AbstractAlthough annotation is a widely-researched topic in Corpus Linguistics (CL), its potential role in Data Driven Learning (DDL) has not been addressed in depth by Foreign Language Teaching (FLT) practitioners. Furthermore, most of the research in the use of DDL methods pays little attention to annotation in the design and implementation of corpus-based/driven language teaching.In this paper, we set out to examine the process of development of SACODEYL Annotator, an application that seeks to assist SACODEYL system users in annotating XML multilingual corpora. First, we discuss the role of annotation in DDL and the dominating paradigm in general corpus applications. In the context of the language classroom, we argue that it is essential that corpora should be pedagogically motivated (Braun, 2005 and 2007a). Then, we move on to deal with the analysis and design stages of our annotation solution by illustrating its main features. Some of these include a user friendly hierarchical and extensible taxonomy tree to facilitate the learner-oriented annotation of the corpora; real-time graphics representation of the annotated corpus matching the XML TEI-compliant (Text Encoding Initiative) standard, as well as an intuitive management of the different data sections and associated metadata.SACODEYL (System Aided Compilation and Open Distribution of European Youth Language) is an EU funded MINERVA project which aims to develop an ICT-based system for the assisted compilation and open distribution of multimedia European teen talk in the context of language education. This research lays emphasis on the functionalities of the application within the SACODEYL context. However, our paper addresses similarly the needs of potential multimedia language corpus administrators in general on the lookout for powerful annotation assisting software. SACODEYL Annotator is free to use and can be downloaded from our website.

This paper presents the nonstationary nonmaneuvering target interception with all possible desired impact angles in a two-dimensional (2D) aerial engagement scenario, where the target can move in any direction. The paper also considers the field-of-view (FOV) constraint for designing the guidance law so that the target is always visible while following the missile trajectory in the entire engagement time, which makes it feasible for real world applications. The guidance law is based on the pure proportional navigation (PPN) to achieve any impact angle of the entire angular spectrum. The proposed guidance law is then simulated for intercepting a nonstationary nonmaneuvering target using a kinematic model of a missile to demonstrate the efficacy of the presented scheme. A comparison with the related work existing in the literature has also been added to establish the superiority of the present work.

Background  Interactive tools like data dashboards enable users both to view and interact with data. In today’s data-driven environment it is a priority for researchers and practitioners alike to be able to develop interactive data visualisation tools easily and where possible at a low cost. Aims  Here, we provide a guide on how to develop and create an interactive online data dashboard in R, using the COVID-19 tracker for Health and Hospital Regions in Queensland, Australia as an example. We detail a series of steps and explain choices made to design, develop, and easily maintain the dashboard and publish it online. Data and methods  The dashboard visualises publicly available data from the Queensland Health web page. We used the programming language R and its free software environment. The dashboard webpage is hosted publicly on GitHub Pages updated via GitHub Desktop. Results  Our interactive dashboard is available at https://qcpr.github.io/. Conclusions  Interactive dashboards have many applications such as dissemination of research and other data. This guide and the supplementary material can be adjusted to develop a new dashboard for a different set of data and needs.
