Development of a synorogenic composite sill at deep structural levels of a magmatic arc (Odenwald, Germany). Part 2: Rheological inversion and mullion formation under bulk constriction

The stratigraphic units, structural elements and metamorphic mineral assemblages of a regional metamorphic culmination in the 1.9 Ga Wopmay Orogen are exposed over greater than 30 km of composite structural depth, in a series of oblique sections produced by cross folding. Regional metamorphism developed continuously in three sequential, rapidly changing thermo-tectonic régimes within an evolving continental magmatic arc. At ca . 1900 Ma, stretching of intra-arc crust resulted in the accumulation of clastic sediment and bimodal volcanic rift-fill deposits. The onset (first stage) of regional metamorphism is marked by high- T low P mineral assemblages, condensed metamorphic zonal sequences and extensive areas of high-grade gneisses devoid of associated plutons. These features are interpreted in terms of a high thermal gradient related to stretching and thinning of the continental lithosphere. Five to ten million years after stretching, following deposition of a west-facing sedimentary prism, a suite of 1896—1878 Ma plutons was emplaced into the rift and margin deposits as they underwent subhorizontal shortening and deformation during the Calderian Orogeny. Thrusted and folded syn-orogenic foredeep deposits are also intruded by the syn-tectonic plutons. At high and intermediate structural levels, syn-tectonic metamorphic mineral growth and metamorphic zonal sequences which are spatially related to the plutons, document heat advection into the deforming marginal prism and mark a second stage of regional metamorphism related to the emplacement of the plutonic bodies. Inverted mineral isograds in autochthonous Proterozoic units beneath a basal décollement record downward thermal relaxation of isotherms following east-directed Calderian transport of the deformed, thickened, and still hot marginal prism over a relatively cold basement. Derivation of multi-point P - T trajectories from post-tectonic, poikiloblastic garnets charts metamorphic mineral growth during uplift and erosion of the internal zone, documenting the third (final) stage of regional metamorphism in Wopmay Orogen. The short erosional time interval (less than 11 Ma) between tectonic thickening and the end of uplift constrains the heat required for this last metamorphic stage to be inherited from the two preceding thermo-tectonic régimes: epicontinental stretching and the emplacement of the syn-tectonic plutonic suite.

Information on the conformation of paired helical filaments (PHF) and the neurofilamentous (NF) network is essential for an understanding of the mechanisms involved in the formation of the primary lesions of Alzheimer's disease (AD): tangles and plaques. The structural and chemical relationships between the NF and the PHF have to be clarified in order to discover the etiological factors of this disease. We are investigating by stereo electron microscopic and biochemical techniques frontal lobe biopsies from patients with AD and squid giant axon preparations. The helical nature of the lesion in AD is related to pathological alterations of basic properties of the nervous system due to the helical symmetry that exists at all hierarchic structural levels in the normal brain. Because of this helical symmetry of NF protein assemblies and PHF, the employment of structure reconstruction techniques to determine the conformation, particularly the handedness of these structures, is most promising. Figs. 1-3 are frontal lobe biopsies.

Abstract. While parenting research continues to compare similarities and differences in mothers’ and fathers’ behaviors based on mean values on the respective dimensions, measurement invariance as a prerequisite for these comparisons has seldom been assured. The present study thus subjected the well-known Parenting Stress Index (PSI), widely used in models of family functioning, to a rigorous measurement invariance analysis based on ( N = 214) Austrian couples with children younger than 3 years of age. We evaluated configural, metric, scalar, and uniqueness invariance on item and subscale levels, and tested for structural invariance of means and variances of the PSI parent and child domain by second-order confirmatory factor analyses. As a result, only measurement differences on the scalar levels affected the factor scores, though negligibly. On the structural levels, no differences were found on the PSI child domain across parents, but on the PSI parent domain, mothers reported more stress.

Inflation targeting in Russia implies maintaining stable low inflation at a level of 4% throughout the country. The presence of structural factors in some regions can determine deviations from the all-Russian inflation, which can lead to different effects of monetary policy in Russian regions. In this paper, we analyze regional heterogeneity of inflation and factors of inflation deviations from the national average, estimate structural levels of inflation in the regions of Russian Federation. These estimates confirm the presence of some regional factors of inflation deviations from the all-Russian indicator, such as the difference in productivity growth of the tradable and non-tradable sectors (Balassa—Samuelson effect), effective exchange rates, real incomes and product stocks. In addition, our results confirm the presence of regions with price growth rate above and below monetary policy target. The results of this research can be used for the development of monetary and communication policies.

The regional tectonic conditions of the KSK Contract of Work are located in the mid-Tertiary magmatic arc (Carlile and Mitchell, 1994) which host a number of epithermal gold deposits (eg, Kelian, Indon, Muro) and significant prospects such as Muyup, Masupa Ria, Gunung Mas and Mirah. Copper-gold mineralization in the KSK Contract of Work is associated with a number of intrusions that have occupied the shallow-scale crust at the Mesozoic metamorphic intercellular junction to the south and continuously into the Lower Tertiary sediment toward the water. This intrusion is interpreted to be part of the Oligocene arc of Central Kalimantan (in Carlile and Mitchell 1994) Volcanic rocks and associated volcanoes are older than intrusions, possibly aged Cretaceous and exposed together with all three contacts (Carlile and Mitchell, 1994) some researchers contribute details about the geological and mineralogical background, and some papers for that are published for the Beruang Kanan region and beyond but no one can confirm the genesis type of the Beruang Kanan region The mineralization of the Beruang Kanan area is generally composed by high yields of epithermal sulphide mineralization. with Cu-Au mineralization This high epithermal sulphide deposition coats the upper part of the Cu-Au porphyry precipitate associated with mineralization processes that are generally controlled by the structure

Background: The O. tesota lectin PF2 is a tetrameric protein with subunits of 33 kDa that recognizes only complex carbohydrates, resistant to proteolytic enzymes and has insecticidal activity against Phaseolus beans pest. Objective: To explore PF2 lectin features at different protein structural levels and to evaluate the effect of temperature and pH on its functionality and conformational stability. Methods: PF2 lectin was purified by affinity chromatography. Its primary structure was resolved by mass spectrometry and analyzed by bioinformatic tools, including its tertiary structure homology modeling. The effect of temperature and pH on its conformational traits and stability was addressed by dynamic light scattering, circular dichroism, and intrinsic fluorescence. The hemagglutinating activity was evaluated using a suspension of peripheral blood erythrocytes. Results: The proposed PF2 folding comprises a high content of beta sheets. At pH 7 and 25 °C, the hydrodynamic diameter (Dh) was found to be 12.3 nm which corresponds to the oligomeric native state of PF2 lectin. Dh increased under the other evaluated pH and temperature conditions, suggesting protein aggregation. At basic pH, PF2 exhibited low conformational stability. The native PF2 (pH 7) retained its full hemagglutinating activity up to 45 °C and exhibited one transition state with a melting temperature of 76.8 °C. Conclusion: PF2 showed distinctive characteristics found in legume lectins. The pH influences the functionality and conformational stability of the protein. PF2 lectin displayed a relatively narrow thermostability to the loss of secondary structure and hemagglutinating activity.
