The sulphur fertilizing experiment was introduced in the cropping year of 2001/2002, with winter rapeseed. The experiment was performed on a farm in Magyarhomorog, Hajdú-Bihar County. By selecting the location for the experiment, we had to consider the effect of the hard winter that was very unfavourable for rapeseed production, as there was serious frost damage on the sown area previously used for the experiment. In the arable land experiment, results of three different doses of treatment were compared in two replicates, on meadow soil. FitoHorm 32 S solution was used as a sulphur fertilizer, in doses of 3, 6 and 10 l/ha. Evaluating the results, we tried to find a correlation between the amount of fertilizer and the amount of seed-crop or the oil content of the seed. The nitrogen and sulphur contents of the samples were determined using classical methods and an Elementar VarioMax analyser. By this way, it was possible to examine not only the role of Sulphur in rapeseed production, but also to compare and evaluate results obtained by Kjeldahl and the modern, environmentally-friendly combustion method.

This paper explains the role of bismuth in the luminescence enhancement of Y2O3 :Eu nanophosphors prepared by Combustion method. Bi ions serve as effective sensitizers for visible emitting rare earths for Light Emitting Diodes. From the X-ray diffraction studies, bismuth co-activated nanophosphors exhibit an early crystallization. Bismuth incorporation not only results in the luminescence enhancement at 612 nm, due to 5D0 to 7F2 transition but also reduces the processing temperature for intense photoemission.

In the present study, CoO, which is hard to synthesize because of the chemical activity of cobalt metal, and the popular Co3O4 have been successfully controlled produced by a salt-assisted combustion method (SACM), in which Co(NO3)2•6H2O, polyethylene glycol (PEG2000) were chosen as oxidant and fuel respectively. The CoO and Co3O4 nanoparticles were investigated by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), x-ray diffraction (XRD), simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) and N2 adsorption. It is found that the pure CoO were obtained whatever adjusting the weight ratio of Co(NO3)2•6H2O and PEG2000 in the absence of inert salt. While, well-dispersed Co3O4 nanoparticles with a high specific surface area were successfully obtained with the introduction of NaCl or KCl in the system, which results from the fact that the introduction of inert inorganic salt as a agglomeration inhibitor into the redox mixture precursor led to the breakup of fractal nanocrystallite agglomerates. A mechanism was proposed to illustrate the possible formation processes and the role of the inert inorganic salt.

The objective of this work has been the synthesis of wollastonite by solution combustion method. The novelty of this work has been obtaining the crystalline phase without the need of thermal treatments after the synthesis. For this purpose, urea was used as fuel. Calcium nitrate was selected as a source of calcium and colloidal silica served as a source of silicon. The effect of the amount of fuel on the combustion process was investigated. Temperature of the combustion reaction was followed by digital pyrometry. The obtained products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and specific surface area. The results showed that the combustion synthesis provides nanostructured powders characterized by a high surface area. When excess of urea was used, wollastonite-2M was obtained with a submicronic structure.

Photoluminescence in the blue and green regions is observed for the first time in nanocrystals of Nd2Zr2O7 synthesized by gel combustion method. This emission is attributed to the presence of oxygen vacancies.

Abstract Double perovskite-type oxide Ca2BMoO6 materials, where B = Cr, La and Sm, were prepared by the sol-gel auto-combustion method for the first time. The role of different B-site cations on their synthesis, structures, and magnetic properties was investigated. The synthesis progress was followed by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and the samples’ structure was investigated by X-ray diffraction. The increase of the ionic radii B leads to the decrease of the t-value which reflects the structural distortion from the ideal cubic perovskite. Magnetization measurements were made with a SQUID magnetometer. All compounds are ferimagnetic and magnetic properties are indirectly influenced by the distortion degree of the lattice and disorder on the B/B’ positions
