Since crises have become an inevitable, natural feature of the business world, managing brands during crisis has also become an important source of competitive advantage. Thus, there is a growing need to understand determinants of crisis, which have become an integral part of today's world. The aim of this chapter is to explain the determinants of successful brand management during crises based on the case of Turkey. Crises may arise for various reasons, such as natural disasters, accidents, financial/political/product harm-related problems, product recall incidents, and many others. Since brands are very affected by many dynamic forces—political-economic-social and technological—brand managers need to be prepared to overcome crises without harming the brand equity. Moreover, the integration of brand management theory, which originated and was dominated by Western researchers, with recent case examples from an emerging country, constitutes the originality of the chapter. In this chapter, two boycott cases, an airplane disaster case and a product recall case, from Turkey are summarized to contribute to the existing Western literature.

Relevant literature and research on the multiracial population will be provided, including multiracial identity development models and common microaggressions that often occur within this population. Point of care ultrasonography (POCUS) has evolved as a valuable adjunct to physical examination in the recent past and various medical specialties have embraced it. However, POCUS training and scope of practice remain relatively undefined in nephrology. The utility of diagnostic POCUS beyond kidney and vascular access is under-recognized. Assessment of fluid status is a frequent dilemma faced by nephrologists in day-to-day practice where multi-organ POCUS can enhance the sensitivity of conventional physical examination. POCUS also reduces fragmentation of care, facilitates timely diagnosis, and expedites management. While the need for further imaging studies is obviated in selected cases, POCUS is not meant to serve as an alternative to consultative imaging. In addition, utility of POCUS depends on the skills and experience of the operator, which in turn depends on the quality of training. In this review, we discuss the rationale behind nephrologists performing POCUS, discuss case examples to illustrate the basic principles of focused ultrasonography, and share our experience-based opinion about developing a POCUS training program at the institutional level.

The article examines the main works of Kazakhstani and foreign authors and reflects the basic principles of tax budgeting. The purpose of the article is to assess the need to apply tax budgeting in a rapidly changing tax environment, as well as a more detailed study of the process of phased budgeting. Attention is paid to improving the quality of generating information on taxes, since changes in tax legislation lead to an additional increase in the tax burden in the company. The author's ideas on the reclassification of the types of the traditional approach according to the time components are put forward, and also, based on the results of other sources, the method of expert assessments is distinguished, which is defined as an auxiliary approach by the authors. The main factors influencing the efficiency of tax planning are described and proposals are made for the use of a “flexible” tax budgeting system, due to the introduction of regular amendments to tax legislation. A model of the formation of a “flexible” budget is presented, which reflects the main components of tax revenues and expenses of the organization. The authors noted the key points that make it possible to optimize the procedure for identifying deviations, as well as to take into account unaccounted factors and errors by creating additional reserves for tax payments of previous periods. The above recommendations are generalized and the final results do not take into account the specifics of the organization. In this regard, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the accounting policy of the taxpayer.

In the final chapter, I am concerned with the confirmation of the subject as a transcendent category in the moment of self-recognition whereby the finite identity is rejected in favour of the infinite Self. Zel’dovich’s The Target employs the sublime as a drama of subject-formation—both as a story of emergence and obliteration—whereby the limits of the self are conceived as a movement away from the self into the topography of solitary subjectivity confronted with open-ended being. The subject becomes an excess of discourse itself, that is, it centres on self-preservation which ensures infinity in stasis. The subject enters the divine state of amnesia after cataclysmic disruptions: the subject is no longer a tyrannous architect of the fallen world but a pre-eminent observer of the unfolding universe. I am particularly interested in the cinematic materiality of the sublime and the immateriality of subjectivity existing outside the temporal framework of history. I centre on issues of scale and amplification as matters of cultural vibration in a post-apocalyptic world. I conclude by demonstrating how Zel’dovich’s The Target with focuses on transient spaces and the epiphany of the universal monad. Thus, this chapter summates the key points presented in the book.
