Results of instantaneous (with accuracy of a minute) spectra observations for a sample of 113 compact objects, selected from the VLBI survey, are presented. Measurements have been made in 1989.9 at the RATAN–600 at 7 wavelengths of 31, 13, 8.2, 7.6, 3.9, 2.7 and 1.4 cm as a set of our spectra monitoring program.

AbstractCompact objects are of great interest in astrophysical research. There are active research interests in understanding better various aspects of formation and evolution of these objects. In this paper we addressed some problems related to the compact objects mass limit. We employed Einstein field equations (EFEs) to derive the equation of state (EoS). With the assumption of high densities and low temperature of compact sources, the derived equation of state is reduced to polytropic kind. Studying the polytropic equations we obtained similar physical implications, in agreement to previous works. Using the latest version of Mathematica-11 in our numerical analysis, we also obtained similar results except slight differences in accuracy.

Compact radio stars are associated with both galaxies and quasi-stellar objects; and there appears to be no way to distinguish between the radio galaxies and the quasi-stellar radio sources from their radio properties alone.The compact radio sources are opaque at the longer radio wavelengths and have spectra that are either peaked or complex. They have a complex brightness distribution and often contain components less than 0.001 arc sec in size.Many of the compact sources show large intensity variations and in NGC 1275 there is evidence for a change in the angular size during one year.

We present new results of our monitoring program for the superluminal quasar 3C 345 having been in continuous operation since 1968. The photographic B-band observations newly reported were made in 1984-91 during 218 nights. The optical light curve (1965-91) containing all available B-band observations was obtained.

The study of diffuse celestial sources in the ground-inaccessible ultraviolet spectral range is less advanced than UV studies of point and compact sources. The main reason is that the characteristics of instrumentation optimized for the two types of objects are quite different. Studies of diffuse objects are best made with fast focal ratio optics with wide fields of view, whereas studies of point and compact objects are best made with large telescope aperture and high angular resolution. As a result, most space ultraviolet instruments to date (such as the International Ultraviolet Explorer and the forthcoming Hubble Space Telescope) are not well suited to the study of faint, extended diffuse objects in the ultraviolet.

Asplanchna girodi (de Guerne, 1888) is a predatory rotifer of wide distribution in temperate and tropical freshwater ecosystems. Of this species, little is known about its diet and its food preferences under natural conditions, since most of the work related to this aspect has been carried out under laboratory conditions. During a short monitoring program at La García Reservoir, a high Andean equatorial reservoir located in the central region of the department of Antioquia (Colombia), in which this species reached a total density of 2.296,2 ind.L-1, studied the composition of the A. girodi diet based only on the direct observation, under the microscope, of the organisms contained in the stomachs of all the individuals present in the simples. Between June and September 2014, integrated samples composed of five depths were taken monthly at three monitoring stations in the entire water column, with a sampling bottle of 10 L capacity. The collected material was filtered through a 30µm plankton net of mesh eye. It was found that A. girodi, presented a wide trophic preference that included the foraging of a dinoflagellate (Ceratium, Schrank), five species of rotifers and a cladoceran. These results lead to the conclusion that A. girodi is possibly an opportunistic species, since consumption is directed at the species with the highest availability (in this case Ceratium) and with the greatest energy savings, since no investment is made in the search for specific prey and in turn would become an important factor in controlling phytoplankton populations.

The effectiveness of a daily hearing aid monitoring program was evaluated. Routine monitoring was followed by a detailed visual-auditory inspection and by electroacoustic analysis. Results suggested that improvements could be made in the existing program to improve the effectiveness of monitoring procedures. Thus, several changes were made in the inspection program, including the addition of periodic electroacoustic analysis of all hearing aids. One year later, a duplicate study revealed a significant decrease in the incidence of hearing aid malfunction.

I should like to give you a very condensed progress report on some spectrophotometric measurements of objective-prism spectra made in collaboration with H. Leicher at Bonn. The procedure used is almost completely automatic. The measurements are made with the help of a semi-automatic fully digitized registering microphotometer constructed by Hög-Hamburg. The reductions are carried out with the aid of a number of interconnected programmes written for the computer IBM 7090, beginning with the output of the photometer in the form of punched cards and ending with the printing-out of the final two-dimensional classifications.

Ultramicrotomy produces plastic deformation in the surfaces of microtomed TEM specimens which can not generally be observed unless special preparations are made. In this study, a typical biological composite of tissue (infundibular thoracic attachment) infiltrated in the normal manner with an embedding epoxy resin (Epon 812 in a 60/40 mixture) was microtomed with glass and diamond knives, both with 45 degree body angle. Sectioning was done in Portor Blum Mt-2 and Mt-1 microtomes. Sections were collected on formvar coated grids so that both the top side and the bottom side of the sections could be examined. Sections were then placed in a vacuum evaporator and self-shadowed with carbon. Some were chromium shadowed at a 30 degree angle. The sections were then examined in a Phillips 300 TEM at 60kv.Carbon coating (C) or carbon coating with chrom shadowing (C-Ch) makes in effect, single stage replicas of the surfaces of the sections and thus allows the damage in the surfaces to be observable in the TEM. Figure 1 (see key to figures) shows the bottom side of a diamond knife section, carbon self-shadowed and chrom shadowed perpendicular to the cutting direction. Very fine knife marks and surface damage can be observed.

Iron is believed to play an important role in the pathogenesis of ischemic injury. However, the sources of intracellular iron in myocytes are not yet defined. In this study we have attempted to localize iron at various cellular sites of the cardiac tissue with the ferrocyanide technique.Rat hearts were excised under ether anesthesia. They were fixed with coronary perfusion with 3% buffered glutaraldehyde made in 0.1 M cacodylate buffer pH 7.3. Sections, 60 μm in thickness, were cut on a vibratome and were incubated in the medium containing 500 mg of potassium ferrocyanide in 49.5 ml H2O and 0.5 ml concentrated HC1 for 30 minutes at room temperature. Following rinses in the buffer, tissues were dehydrated in ethanol and embedded in Spurr medium.The examination of thin sections revealed intense staining or reaction product in peroxisomes (Fig. 1).
