The standardization of IHC has been a critical issue since 1977. The most significant challenge for the standardization of routine IHC may be the adverse influence of formalin, which is in part due to variable periods of formalin-fixation ranging from 12 hours to days or weeks, resulting in variable intensity of immunostaining for formalin sensitive antigens. The world-wide use of the AR technique for IHC in both clinical and research histopathology has demonstrated that the AR is a breakthrough in pathology. Based on numerous studies of AR-IHC with excellent results for a variety of interesting markers used in diagnostic pathology, the possibility has been raised that AR technique may be useful in the standardization of IHC. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the possibility of standardization of IHC based on the ‘test battery‘ approach for establishing an optimal protocol of AR in order to achieve a state of ‘maximal retrieval’, showing a equal comparability of AR-IHC staining of archival paraffin-embedded tissues under varying periods of formalin-fixation.

The explosive expansion of the World Wide Web (WWW) is the biggest event in the Internet. Since its public introduction in 1991, the WWW has become an important channel for electronic commerce, information access, and publication. However, the long waiting time for accessing web pages has become a critical issue, especially with the popularity of multimedia technology and the exponential increase in the number of Web users. Although various technologies and techniques have been implemented to alleviate the situation and to comfort the impatient users, there is still the need to carry out fundamental research to investigate what constitutes an acceptable waiting time for a typical WWW user. This research not only evaluates Nielsen’s hypothesis of 15 seconds as the maximum waiting time of WWW users, but also provides approximate distributions of waiting time of WWW users.

During the past two decades, advances in computer technologies combined with telecommunication technologies have lead to the development of the Internet and its most popular application, the World Wide Web. Like many other technologies, the WWW has not been free of problems and challenges. A Delphi technique was utilized to assess a list of issues identified in the existing literature. In addition to this list, the panel of experts who participated in the Delphi study identified other critical issues and eventually ranked them in their order of priority and importance. The critical issue identified in this study provides closer insights into issues affecting the overall utilization and management of Web-enabled technologies and offers many implications and challenges for businesses, governments, and the user community.

In this article I examine how Deleuzian-inspired assemblage theory allows us to offer a new challenge to the enlightenment categories of thought that have dominated archaeological thinking. The history of archaeological thought, whilst superficially a series of paradigm shifts, can be retold as arguments constructed within distinctions between ideas and materials, present and past, and culture and nature. At the heart of all of these has been the critical issue of representation, of how the gap between people and the world can be bridged. In the last decade or so, however, archaeologists have begun to make a more significant challenge to these ideas, and have attempted to offer a critique of our enlightenment heritage that is ontologically, rather than epistemologically, inspired. Drawing on the manner in which assemblages allow for the vibrancy of matter, are non-anthropocentric, multiscalar and more-than-representational, this article argues that Deleuzian thought offers the best chance to rework our understanding of the past in this manner. This is explored through a case study of three scales of analysis of Neolithic Britain.

AbstractFe XIV 530.3 nm coronal emission line observations have been used for the estimation of the green solar corona rotation. A homogeneous data set, created from measurements of the world-wide coronagraphic network, has been examined with a help of correlation analysis to reveal the averaged synodic rotation period as a function of latitude and time over the epoch from 1947 to 1991.The values of the synodic rotation period obtained for this epoch for the whole range of latitudes and a latitude band ±30° are 27.52±0.12 days and 26.95±0.21 days, resp. A differential rotation of green solar corona, with local period maxima around ±60° and minimum of the rotation period at the equator, was confirmed. No clear cyclic variation of the rotation has been found for examinated epoch but some monotonic trends for some time intervals are presented.A detailed investigation of the original data and their correlation functions has shown that an existence of sufficiently reliable tracers is not evident for the whole set of examinated data. This should be taken into account in future more precise estimations of the green corona rotation period.

The limited fossil reserves, spiraling price and environmental impact due to usage of fossil fuels leads the world wide researchers’ interest in using alternative renewable and environment safe fuels that can meet the energy demand. Biodiesel is an emerging renewable alternative fuel to conventional diesel which can be produced from both edible and non-edible oils, animal fats, algae etc. The society is in dire need of using renewable fuels as an immediate control measure to mitigate the pollution level. In this work an attempt is made to review the requisite and access the capability of the biodiesel in improving the environmental degradation.
