We present an extension of vendor-managed inventory (VMI) problems by considering advertising and pricing policies. Unlike the results available in the literature, the demand is supposed to depend on the retail price and advertising investment policies of the manufacturer and retailers, and is a random variable. Thus, the constructed optimization model for VMI supply chain management is a stochastic bi-level programming problem, where the manufacturer is the upper level decision-maker and the retailers are the lower-level ones. By the expectation method, we first convert the stochastic model into a deterministic mathematical program with complementarity constraints (MPCC). Then, using the partially smoothing technique, the MPCC is transformed into a series of standard smooth optimization subproblems. An algorithm based on gradient information is developed to solve the original model. A sensitivity analysis has been employed to reveal the managerial implications of the constructed model and algorithm: (1) the market parameters of the model generate significant effects on the decision-making of the manufacturer and the retailers, (2) in the VMI mode, much attention should be paid to the holding and shortage costs in the decision-making.

In a VMI service, a central production center (i.e. the vendor) can control the inventory of each retailer according to the optimization of the costs due both to the overfilling/stock-out of the inventories and to the travels required for the deliveries. In this work, an original mathematical programming approach has been formulated and implemented in order to show that under specific but common conditions (the most important of which are: capacity of the retailer warehouse higher than the demand and than the vehicle capacity, a maximum of two drops for travel, unsatisfied demand lost and not backlogged), a true direct delivery VMI service may not be the best solution. Results are shown on a fictional network as well as on a real logistics system represented by a central depot and by a network of petrol service stations, giving evidence to some peculiar aspects of the VMI service which can be useful on their own to enhance the decision making strategies of a logistic company.

This research involved a study exploring the changes in an academic institution expressed through decision-making in a shifting leadership culture. Prior to the study, the school was heavily entrenched in authoritarian and centralized decision-making, but as upper-level administrators were exposed to the concept of collaborative action research, they began making decisions through a reflection and action process. Changing assumptions and attitudes were observed and recorded through interviews at the end of the research period. The research team engaged in sixteen weekly cycles of reflection and action based on an agenda they mutually agreed to and through an analysis of post-research interviews, weekly planning meetings, discussions, and reflection and action cycles. Findings revealed experiences centering around the issues of:  The nature of collaboration- it created discomfort, it created a sense of teamwork, it created difficulty.  The change of environment in the process- team members began to respect each other more, and the process became more enjoyable.  The freedom and change in the process- freedom to voice opinions and to actively listen, the use of experience to lead elsewhere in the school.  How issues of power are better understood by working together- the former process was less collaborative, politics will always be part of the process. As a result of this study, members have started using this decision-making methodology in other areas of administration.

Religiosity covers all aspects of human life values. Consumer decision-making in Muslim product purchase needs to involve religiosity. Muslim fashion is increasingly popular and becomes a potential business for fashion entrepreneurs in Indonesia. This condition evokes a dilemma for the consumers as Muslim fashion users on whether they have to conform to the religious sharia or follow the trend. The purpose of this article is to identify the role of religiosity as a factor affecting Muslim consumers to revisit Muslim fashion stores. This research involved 243 Muslim consumers of several Muslim fashion stores. The results showed that religiosity of Muslim consumers had a direct effect on patronage intention and indirect effect on patronage intention of Muslim fashion stores through Customer Satisfaction. The research findings are directed to managerial implications for Muslim fashion entrepreneurs in relation to consumer religiosity and marketing of Indonesian Muslim fashion products.

Decision support systems (DSSs) have been traditionally identified as useful information technology tools in a variety of fields, including the context of cultural heritage. However, to the best of our knowledge, no prior study has developed a DSS framework that incorporates all the main decision areas simultaneously in the context of cultural heritage. We fill this gap by focusing on design-science research and specifically by developing a DSS framework whose features support all the main decision areas for the sustainable management of cultural assets in a comprehensive manner. The main decision-making areas considered in our study encompass demand management, segmentation and communication, pricing, space management, and services management. For these areas, we select appropriate decision-making supporting techniques and data management solutions. The development of our framework, in the form of a web-based system, results in an architectural solution that is able to satisfy critical requirements such as ease of use and response time. We present an application of the innovative DSS framework to a museum and discuss the main managerial implications and future improvements.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) uses pairwise comparison to evaluate alternatives' advantages to a certain criterion. For decision-making problem with many different criteria and alternatives, pairwise comparison causes a prolonged decision-making period and rises fatigue in decision-makers' mentality. A question of practical value is if there exists a way to reduce judgment number and what influence the reduction will have on the overall evaluation of alternative ratings. To answer this question, we introduce scale error and judgment error into AHP judgment matrix. By expanding the scales defined in the AHP, scale error is eliminated. Taking judgment error as random variable, a new estimator to calculate priority vector is presented. In the end, an example is proved to show lowering judgment number will increase the probability of larger errors appearing in priority vector computation.

This study explores consumers’ decision-making in terms of intention to switch to foreign brands from domestic brands when purchasing cell phones and sports shoes. A survey of 584 undergraduates in Guangdong, China, shows that domestic brands retain their low quality-conscious, low fashion-and-recreational-conscious and low price-conscious customers and attract low brand-conscious and high choice-confused buyers from foreign brands. Foreign brands typically retain their consumers who are highly conscious of fashion and recreation and keep and draw customers with low choice confusion. High-price-conscious consumers and those who are highly brand-confused will assess foreign and domestic brands when searching for bargains. Regarding managerial implications, local brands should offer products of high quality at low pricesand constantly invest in R&D; foreign brands may expand their customer bases and build interactive brand channels; all companies can retain brand-confused customers with preferential packages and design their marketing strategies based on decision-making styles of their target consumers.

Energy and mining reporting have to conduct for the exploration company in order to make control while exploration. Government control can perform by making profiling of energy and mining data that exist in the area as consideration in taking policy or decision. Stages of energy and mining reporting are very important to do especially in areas that have energy and mining resources such as Musi Banyuasin regency. Profiling can performed by mapping the location of energy and mining results using a geographic information system (GIS) to organize data between explorers and governments. Based on these conditions GIS was developed using a technique that prioritizes user needs with extreme programming development techniques. The result of GIS development shows that the processing of data becomes information based on spatial and non-spatial data with the final result of energy and mining report. The report presented can be used as a report to the relevant parties as an effort to open data of energy and mining as material in decision-making or policy. Geographic information system generated systematically developed using extreme programming approach with five stages of exploration, planning, iteration, production and maintenance so that it can run funtionaly according to its function

In today's competitive environment, enterprises should use their resources correctly; they should continuously improve themselves and work efficiently. It is important to evaluate the performances of the units under the same conditions in enterprises according to each other, to see the current situations and to determine appropriate improvements in necessary points. One of the commonly used approaches to performance evaluation is Data Envelopment Analysis. Many approaches have been developed for the Data Envelopment Analysis model, and Goal programming using in multi-objective decision making solutions approaches is one of them. Goal Programming gives decision-makers the opportunity to evaluate many objectives together in the decision-making process. In this study, classical Data Envelopment Analysis and weighted goal programming approach for multi-criteria data envelopment analysis model was applied in the evaluation process of the projects worked in an automotive supplier industry. A knowledge system has also been proposed in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the projects periodically and to include new projects or conditions into the evaluation.

There are many buildings with various conditions in Indonesia and some of them are not in finest conditions that need maintenance treatment urgently. The absence of building maintenance decision-making tool and limited budget are among main factors that cause unmanageable maintenance program. Therefore, this study has been conducted to propose an optimization model that is capable to determine the most appropriate building maintenance treatment. This study applied Constraint Programming (CP) approach to select the most economical maintenance treatment for a certain building and to allocate annual maintenance budget. CP-based model in this study subjects to constraint of budget and targeted level of building condition. In this study, maintenance treatment options, budget, time period, building deterioration rates, and the minimum standard of building condition were set. The model was run in IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio since the software is very efficient and effective in processing the optimization model. Furthermore, a case study was carried out to run the model involving 41 buildings in a 10-year period, and two different scenarios were conducted to examine the optimization model. The results successfully validated that the model can be a decision-making tool in selecting and prioritizing effective maintenance treatment.
