Online learning, also known as e-learning, is the result of the evolution of distance learning that has developed following technological developments, especially information technology. Before the pandemic, online learning was only one alternative that enriched the learning process. Various courses are implemented by combining offline and online learning processes called blended learning. Through the Learning Management System (LMS), the Department of Architecture Unhas combines offline and online learning in studio-based design courses. Lecturers and students are trained to carry out the stages of the learning process guided by online procedures. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has made online learning the only way to keep the learning process going as planned. The sudden shift of studio-based courses from offline to totally online resulted in a change in the learning environment and experience. This study found that the online learning process is largely determined by the availability of learning materials and instruction in the LMS, the distance between learning space and time, the learning experience and the meaning of independent learning perceived by students. The study involved student participants at all semester levels, academic administration staff, lecturers, and student parents.

The Academic Information System (in Indonesian often abbreviated as SIAKAD) is a system developed to manage student data that aims at facilitating online academic administration activities. It aims to provide academic information services in the form of web applications, where teachers can independently create student academic reports to synchronize data into the DAPODIK system, a primary education data system, and develop academic information systems using web assembly according to user experience (UX) and developer experience (DX). The research method consists of field studies and literature related to web assembly, primary education data (DAPODIK), and the Academic Information System (SIAKAD). This information system and database were built using the Convention Over Configuration paradigm. The design phase used a prototyping model to graphically represent the system workflow and used an experimental research approach. Moreover, the study used an integrated modeling language (UML), and a Database Management System using PostgreSQL, and alpha testing for model testing. The Client Application was built using the C# programming language for users to generate student academic reports every semester. Processing data transactions using web assembly took less time than the traditional web, which was less than 300 milliseconds.

IT security management is essential for organizations to notice the occurring risks and opportunities because they will profoundly affect the ongoing business processes within the organization. The Satya Wacana Academic Information System, more often called SIASAT, is an IT component playing an essential role in running core business processes at Satya Wacana Christian University under the control of the Information Systems and Technology Bureau. At this time, the implementation of SIASAT has been going well, but there are still some obstacles. Lack of human resources is one of the findings and one it becomes of the most significant risks as it affects the use of infrastructure and information security. This research was conducted using the international standard ISO/IEC 27001:2013, prioritizing information security by taking a planning clause focusing on risk assessment. From the results of this study, there were nine recommendations given. Some of which were the most important, i.e., creating separated standard operating procedure documents for SIASAT, which previously were still affiliated with the Academic Administration Bureau; distributing job descriptions; and providing clear and documented access rights for everyone. It is expected that this research can reduce the occurring risks and can be considered for establishing improvements to enhance academic services in the future.

Background: In a time of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, digital social support can prove helpful in buffering the stress and anxiety especially for students whose lives were being affected both socially and academically. The present study aims to explore the emotional and informational social support available to students during the online transformation of their education. It further investigates factors affecting anxiety and stress among students.Design and Methods: An online survey was administered among 479 undergraduate students at a private university in Saudi Arabia from 2nd March till 17th June 2020. Descriptive analysis was used to report the findings of students’ self-reported data. Results: The results revealed that more than 70% of the students reported that they were satisfied with the informational and emotional support available to them via digital platforms. However, they felt less connected with the teachers and academic administration. Feeling sick (46%), being locked down at homes and isolation (43%) were major causes of stress and anxiety. 71% of the students reported their ability to keep themselves busy, however, only 55% of students mentioned that they did not feel lonely while confined to their homes. In these circumstances, the continuation of studies via online platforms helped students reduce stress and anxiety (52%).Conclusions: Although this online transformation was not planned, the university was able to provide adequate informational support to the students. However, students were dependent upon friends, family and relatives for emotional support. The results of the study point towards the need of training for teachers and academic administrative staff in order to better address students’ needs for social support during the crisis.  The results also contribute to the body of data reporting the various effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on students in a way to reach a sustainable framework for supporting students.
