Objective: While a number of studies have dealt with the psychosocial consequences of transplantation for patients, we know comparatively little about the strains faced by their spouses. The present study investigates the psychosocial health of transplant patients and their spouses, as well as the link between these groups’ physical and psychosocial status, on the one hand, and their degree of burnout and level of life satisfaction on the other. Design: In a cross-sectional study, 121 patients and their spouses are surveyed by questionnaire following heart, lung, liver, or kidney transplant. Methods: The psychosocial parameters investigated in both patients and spouses are sense of coherence, quality of life, quality of the relationship, life satisfaction, and burnout. Results: Patients rate the quality of the relationship higher than their partners do, and they are more satisfied with the relationship than their spouses are (p < .001). Regression analyses show that patients’ life satisfaction is associated with quality of the relationship. Evidence of a full burnout syndrome can be found in three of the patients and two of the spouses. Burnout in the case of both patients and their partners is associated with limitations in one’s own sense of coherence and in one’s mental and physical health (multiple R2 = 0.79 for patients and 0.76 for spouses). Conclusion: Because of the importance of the couple’s relationship, psychosocial counseling should pay more attention to relationship satisfaction. Psychotherapeutic techniques should be used to improve the sense of coherence in both patient and spouse.

Kidney transplantation is the famous and most important choice of treatment of renal replacement therapies (RRTs) because of its positive impact on morbidity, survival and cost. The health related quality of life is becoming important outcome. Quality of life is usually impaired in patients who have renal transplant because of renal transplant patients have anxiety, lack of social, physical and emotional support and diminished ability to take care of themselves. The basic purpose of renal transplantation is to achieve maximum quality of life with minimum side effects. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted at Rukhsana Akhtar Bahria International Orchard Hospital Lahore after approval from institution board of university of Lahore. 36 patients were enrolled in study by using purposive sampling technique. After taking informed consent all Kidney transplant patients aged between 18 years to 60 years, visited the post-transplantation OPD and continuously in follow-up sessions were included in study. A validated and standard WHO questionnaire of “Kidney Disease and Quality of Life (KDQOL-36™)” was used for data collection. Data was entered and analyzed in SPSS version.21.Chi-square test was applied to find out significant association between qualitative variables. P -Value < 0.05will be considered as statistically significant. Results: Majority of patients were from 40-49 years 10(27.0%). Females were more as compared to men (20(55.6) vs 16(44.4%)). 10(27.8) patients can read and write and 8(22.2%) have done matriculation. More patients live in Urban area as compared to rural area(19(52.8%) vs 17(47.2%)).8(22.2%) patients have less than 1 year of post kidney transplantation time and 19(52.8%) have 1 to 3 years. All the seven domains of KDQOL show poor QOL. General Health, Physical function and physical and emotional function shows average QOL and Emotional, social, daily activities and overall KDQOL shows poor QOL. There was insignificant association with age, gender, education; residential area and Post kidney transplantation length of time (years)(p-value > 0.05). Conclusions: After renal transplantation HRQOL becomes very important factor. After kidney transplantation HRQOL depends on many factors. It was concluded from current study that the HRQOL was not as good as it should be. Over the period of transplantation time patient’s quality of life remain same. The society, government, family, and medical staff need to support patients so they can also improve their QOL. Key word: Renal Diseases, Kidney transplant, Quality of life, KDQOL-36

Meanwhile, the growth variable (p value=0,052) has nothing to do with the quality of life of the elderly. The partnership variable has a significant relationship with the quality of life of the elderly (ρ-value<0,05) with a sig. of 0,000 on the quality of life of the elderly. It is recommended for puskesmas to improve health services for the elderly by conducting home visits to carry out direct monitoring of the elderly.

The present study examined the relationship between inter-role conflict and life satisfaction in a sample of working mothers. It also explored Sense of Coherence as a moderating variable in the relationship. Given the exploratory nature of the study, a cross-sectional, correlational design was adopted. Self-report data were collected from 40 working mothers from the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Statistical analysis found that there was a significant inverse relationship between inter-role conflict and life satisfaction. Sense of Coherence was found to be a significant moderator of the inter-role conflict and life satisfaction relationship. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed in terms of the findings.

BACKGROUND Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis with facial skin involved, leading to physical and emotional problems, which greatly affected quality of life (QoL) of patients. Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and willingness to pay (WTP) are well-established instruments assessing the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), while very few studies have been focused on this topic about rosacea in China. OBJECTIVE To investigate HRQoL in Chinese rosacea patients assessed by DLQI and WTP and investigate potential predictors for patients with HRQoL severely affected. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on 973 patients with rosacea. Sociodemographic data, clinical features and DLQI were collected, and WTP was assessed by three standardized items. Multivariable logistic analysis was performed to investigate independent factors influencing QoL. RESULTS 921 questionnaires were accomplished by participants. The mean DLQI score was 11.6 (median 11). Patients were willing to pay an average of $1050.2 or € 896.2 (median $431.4 or € 368.1) for complete cure. 33.3% would like to pay more than 20% of their monthly income to achieve sustainable control. There were positive correlations between WTP with DLQI (P < .05). DLQI could be independently impacted by age (21-30 and 31-40, OR = 3.242 and 3.617, respectively), the occupational requirement of appearance (high, OR = 4.410), disease duration (< 2 years, OR = 1.582), oedema (OR = 1.844) and severity of flushing, burning, stinging and pruritus (severe, OR = 2.003, 1.981, 2.491, 2.249, respectively). There were no significant associations between WTP and most of the clinical factors. CONCLUSIONS The QoL was negatively affected and should not be ignored among rosacea patients in China. Patients aged 21-40y, having occupational requirement of appearance, with the disease duration less than 2 years, and suffering severe flushing and related symptoms were more likely to have severe or very severe limitation of QoL.
