Paedophilia—a sexual preference for the body scheme of pre-pubescent children—is defined as a disorder within the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) of the World Health Organization as well as within the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association. Contrary to popular belief, not all sex offenders who target children are paedophiles, and not all paedophiles commit sexual offences. But quite obviously paedophilia is an emotionally charged and controversial topic, which might be an explanation for putting it out of focus within the healthcare system. Mental health professionals are mainly (and worldwide) not well trained in terms of assessment methods and intervention techniques available to develop and implement effective policies and practices. This presents an obstacle for prevention, in that proactive strategies to protect children from child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation by online offences, such as the consumption or distribution of child abusive images (so-called child pornography), which emphasises the internationally relevant dimension of the issue. The article will address key concerns and questions in dealing with this clinically relevant population, offer insights into a primary prevention approach developed in Germany, and discuss the situation on a European level.

To ensure a proper prevention and combating of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse against children the provisions of the special parts of Moldovan and Romanian Criminal Codes should be in line with art. 18-23 of Lanzarote Convention. However, Moldovan and Romanian Criminal Codes do not reflect entirely these provisions. Unjustified deflections from the provisions of art. 18-23 of Lanzarote Convention have a negative impact on unifying the international provisions on preventing and combating sexual exploitation and sexual abuse against children. To facilitate the compatibility of the special parts of Moldovan and Romanian Criminal Codes with Lanzarote Convention, the authors of this article highlight solutions to improve legal provisions.

This chapter focuses on the macro- and institutional-level impacts of sexual exploitation and abuse. It shows that sexual misconduct in individual missions has far-reaching impacts that reduce international capacities to engage effectively in peace operations and diminish the perceived legitimacy of the international community engaged in peacekeeping and peacebuilding, thereby undermining the international community's capacity to pursue the broader aspirational goals that animate peacekeeping. Sexual misconduct also seeds conflict between different organizational or peacekeeping units as a result of perceived misbehaviors and undermines the morale of peacekeepers and humanitarians. This can result in reduced financial and other support for peace operations and related work and provide fodder for anti-intervention campaigners. Tracking the international responses to the 2015 peacekeeper sexual abuse scandal in the Central African Republic and the 2018 Oxfam sexual exploitation scandal in Haiti, the chapter also explores the global political implications of such scandals.

The role of social workers in safeguarding and child protection has received much critical attention in recent years, in an evolving political and social arena, where policy and practice has shifted following both public outcry of serious case reviews and subsequent policy and practice changes concerning the profession and how it services the needs of the most vulnerable in society. This article seeks to critically examine the current methodology for identifying suspected child sexual abuse signs and indicators, the evolving spectrum of abuse, including critical evaluation of current perspectives on child sexual exploitation.

Purpose Although some research has been done with entertainment workers in KTV bars, little has been done to gain a qualitative understanding of the vulnerabilities of masseuse women. This is due to a prevalent focus on girls under 18 years, thereby excluding most masseuses. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach In total, 98 female participants completed an interview answering both open and closed questions concerning relationships, stigma and discrimination and personal sexual abuse among other topics. Findings This study finds that many women working in the massage parlor industry are vulnerable to various threats, including sexual exploitation and abuse. Dependency structures within the massage parlor as well as with their families seem to play a key role in the life situations that can be positive as well as negative, and in some cases both. Social implications The findings provide a baseline evaluation of the vulnerable conditions of the massage industry for women in Cambodia. Specifically, that stigma, discrimination, physical and sexual abuse, as well as a lack of access to education are all vulnerabilities not commonly covered, especially with adult women working in the entertainment industry. This research has been adapted from the original transcript “Strive, No Matter What” (Miles et al., 2014). Originality/value The paper seeks to understand the reality of life and vulnerabilities as perceived by Phnom Penh’s female masseuses in the lower-priced massage parlors which is largely unknown.

The RS selects relevant research inthe theoretical-practical scope for the bibliographic research. The purpose of this present RS was to know the reality of ESCCA - Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in our country in a phenomenological perspective from the perspective of empirical research. Descriptors in Portuguese: sexual violence against children and adolescents, sexual abuse of children and adolescents, sexual trafficking of children and adolescents, sexual tourism, child pornography and pedophilia; 76 publications were found in the electronic databases: Google academic, Scielo and Portal of journals of Capes, 22 studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria: i) empirical studies: ii) between 1990 and 2011; iii) published in Portuguese; iv) on any kind of exploitation exclusively for the public of children and adolescents. It was verified that the ESCCA problem is loaded with multidimensionality, which is not barred with the violence of socioeconomic oppression and recognition of the human condition; It implies the production of a symbolic system that generates cultural stigma, which impacts on all dimensions of being with local, personal, political and planetary implications. From the theoretical dialogue between the empirical researches of this RS and scholars in the area, it can be concluded that the theme needs to be deepened in its specificities, so that the vulnerable individuals which are invisible and susceptible to all kinds of symbolic violence of our unequal society do not remain in this situation. Keywords: Teaching.
