The continual development of technology represents a challenge when preparing engineering students for future employment. At the same time, the way students interact in everyday life is evolving: their extra-curricular life is filled with an enormous amount of stimulus, from online data to rich Web-based social interaction. This chapter provides an assessment of various learning technology-driven methods for enhancing both teaching and learning in the science and engineering disciplines. It describes the past, present, and future drivers for the implementation of hands-on teaching methods, incorporating industry standard software and hardware and the evolution of learning experiments into all-encompassing online environments that include socializing, learning, entertainment, and any other aspect of student life when studying science and engineering.

To remove a growing gap between students’ skills received in vocational high schools and real demands in the workforce, industries should be actively involved not only as external users but to work in curriculum development and learning evaluation. This study describes the process of planning, implementation, and supervision of an industry standard class resulted from collaboration between the school and the industry. This study was a qualitative study using data collection techniques of interviews, observation and documentation. The results revealed (1) the industry and the school were partners in planning the industry standard class including development of curriculum, facilities, infrastructure, teachers, and materials, (2) implementation of the class included theoritical and practical learning, and industry practices, (3) supervision was performed by the industry partner administrating industry standard competency tests, and (4) management of the class consisted of three sequenced stages namely selection of students in the third semester, implementation of industry standardized teaching and learning process from the third semester to the sixth semester, and a competency test in the sixth semester.

Abstract A hydrological and hydraulic engineering analysis has been carried out on the Valens aqueduct system constructed from around AD 345 and serving Constantinople. A GIS analysis of previous field observations combined with a digital elevation model confirmed the aqueduct’s likely route and slope. Macrophysical Climate Modelling revealed that contemporary weather data was an appropriate proxy for the time of the aqueduct’s construction, and modern flow data was obtained for some of the springs that fed the aqueduct. Existing, previously documented remains, especially at intakes, were considered, and the industry standard software HEC–RAS was used to simulate the performance of the aqueduct system with a view to understanding the amount of water it could have delivered to the city, the seasonal variation in supply and the most likely configuration of the aqueduct, where this was not clear from existing archaeology. It was concluded that the most likely configuration for the aqueduct system was a fourth and a fifth century channel continuing separately and in parallel to the city walls, which might have delivered flow the range of 0.73 m3/s in the driest month of October to 1.73 m3/s in the wettest month of March over an average year.

The purpose of this research is to formulate the model of the planning of the Organizer School of industry standard class. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with the location in SMK PIRI 1 Yogyakarta on the package of Light Vehicle Engineering expertise. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and documentary observations. Testing of data validity is done by triangulation of data, auditing, and review of an informant. The technique of analysis through data reduction phase, data presentation, conclusion. The results of the research indicate that the School Planning of industry standard class organizers involves partner industry in synchronizing the industry curriculum with the curriculum of the government into implementation curriculum, student selection, preparation of facilities and infrastructure, teacher competence and teaching materials. Industrial standard class planning is done through the selection phase of students in the third semester, the second phase of the industry-standard teaching and learning process in the third semester until semester VI, the third stage through competency test in the 6th semester.

The COVID-19 situation has a serious global impact on the education system. Thus, the research purpose is aimed to construct the models of online learning strategies for Thailand students on learning management in the coronavirus 2019 scenario. The research methodology was conducted according to the process of the cross-industry standard process for data mining, known as the CRISP-DM model for developing the best research. The data collected 487 students from the University of Phayao (UP), and Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University (RMU) from the 1st semester in academic year 2020. The collected data has been agreed upon in accordance with research ethics. The results of the study revealed that the factors influencing the model consisted of 8 out of 38 attributes, with a high predictive accuracy (85.14%). Finally, the researchers can plan for the management of teaching and learning for students at the University of Phayao to solve the Coronavirus 2019 Scenario in the academic year 2021 and the future.

Wideband and multifunction operation for THz polarization manipulating devices has been desired for a wide range of applications. In this paper, a novel wideband transmissive type polarization manipulator based on metasurfaces is proposed in the THz region. The designed metasurface acts as a multifunctional polarization manipulator, performing linear to circular polarization conversion (LCPC) for relative bandwidth 43.9% (0.94 THz to 1.47 THz) for incident x/y polarizations and a wideband bandpass filter with relative bandwidth 67% (0.713 THz to 1.4346 THz) for incident slant (xy) polarizations. Wideband LCPC operation is achieved using a unique diagonal symmetric structure based on a bilayered metasurface. In order to confirm the validation of proposed results, electromagnetic simulation was carried out in two industry-standard software packages, HFSS and CST, using frequency domain and time domain solvers, respectively. Close agreement between numerical results depicts the validity and reliability of the proposed design. Polarized wave trajectory, equivalent microscopic circuit, physical mechanisms, and impact of different geometrical parameters on the performance is investigated. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first polarization manipulator based on bilayered metasurfaces. The same structure can be used as for LCPC and the transmit reject filter for THz wireless communication, including THz satellite communications, the future of communication. Moreover, they can be used in THz imaging and biomolecular control devices.
