The object of the research is the forecast of seismic resistance when strengthening the soil foundations of structures. The purpose of the work is to numerically estimate the total increment of seismic intensity during artificial transformation and strengthening of foundation soils based on the results of geomechanical modeling. The study is based on classical mathematical methods for modeling soil foundations in a flat nonlinear setting. A new approach to determining the total increment of seismic intensity is presented, based on determining the ratio of the values of subsidence of the foundations of buildings and structures before and after soil strengthening. The paper presents the results of predicting changes in seismic resistance for real objects, obtained from the data of engineering and geological surveys and numerical computer models. It was found that due to the transformation of soil foundations, seismic resistance can decrease by more than 0.5 points. This technique can be used both to adjust the scoring for individual objects and to clarify the boundaries of seismic zones on OCP maps.

Цель исследования - охарактеризовать микробиологическую картину стоматита до и после его лечения высокоактивными культурами лактобацилл, дать оценку эффективности их применения при экспериментальном стоматите. Методика. Опыты проводились на 32 самках беспородных белых крыс массой 230 г. Моделирование стоматита включало 2 этапа: моделирование травматического стоматита и воспроизведение бактериального стоматита на базе травматического. У крыс контрольной и опытных серий на всех этапах эксперимента брали мазки с поверхности десен для характеристики микробиоценоза ротовой полости. Результаты. После обработки слизистой оболочки полости рта (СОПР) культурой патогенного штамма Staphylococcus aureus существенно снизились частота встречаемости и количество условно-патогенных микроорганизмов. Лечение стоматита у крыс культурами лактобацилл ( Lactobacillus 11 зв., Lactobacillus 2 п.рта, Lactobacillus 24 д.ст.) и их комбинацией приводило к снижению распространенности S. aureus вплоть до его исчезновения, а также к нормализации количества условно-патогенной микробиоты. Заключение. Исследования показали эффективность использования отдельных высокоактивных штаммов лактобацилл или их комбинации при лечении заболеваний СОПР, в частности бактериального стоматита. Aim. To characterize the microbiological picture of stomatitis in intact rats before and after the treatment with highly active cultured lactobacilli and to evaluate the effectiveness of this treatment in experiments on white rats. Methods. Experiments were carried out on 32 mongrel female white rats weighing 230 g. Smears were taken from the gum surface of control and experimental rats at all stages of the experiment to characterize the oral cavity microbiocenosis. Results. After treatment of the oral cavity with cultured Staphylococcus aureus , the occurrence and quantity of opportunistic microorganisms significantly decreased. The treatment of stomatitis in rats with cultured lactobacillus ( Lactobacillus 11 zv., Lactobacillus 2 p.r., Lactobacillus 24 d.st. and their combination) led to a decrease in S. aureus prevalence up to its extinction and to normalization of the quantitative composition of opportunistic microbiota. Conclusions. The study showed the effieacy of highly active lactobacillus strains individually or their combinations in the treatment of oral diseases, in particular, bacterial stomatitis.

AbstractBackgroundThe comparability of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) results cannot be easily obtained using SI-traceable reference measurement procedures (RPMs) or reference materials, whilst harmonization is more feasible. The aim of this study was to identify and validate a new approach for the harmonization of TSH results.MethodsPercentile normalization was applied to 125,419 TSH results, obtained from seven laboratories using three immunoassays (Access 3rd IS Thyrotropin, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics; Architect System, Abbott Diagnostics and Elecsys, Roche Diagnostics). Recalibration equations (RCAL) were derived by robust regressions using bootstrapped distribution. Two datasets, the first of 119 EQAs, the second of 610, 638 and 639 results from Access, Architect and Elecsys TSH results, respectively, were used to validate RCAL. A dataset of 142,821 TSH values was used to derive reference intervals (RIs) after applying RCAL.ResultsAccess, Abbott and Elecsys TSH distributions were significantly different (p < 0.001). RCAL intercepts and slopes were −0.003 and 0.984 for Access, 0.032 and 1.041 for Architect, −0.031 and 1.003 for Elecsys, respectively. Validation using EQAs showed that before and after RCAL, the coefficients of variation (CVs) or among-assay results decreased from 10.72% to 8.16%. The second validation dataset was used to test RCALs. The median of between-assay differences ranged from −0.0053 to 0.1955 mIU/L of TSH. Elecsys recalibrated to Access (and vice-versa) showed non-significant difference. TSH RI after RCAL resulted in 0.37–5.11 mIU/L overall, 0.49–4.96 mIU/L for females and 0.40–4.92 mIU/L for males. A significant difference across age classes was identified.ConclusionsPercentile normalization and robust regression are valuable tools for deriving RCALs and harmonizing TSH values.

The term springback is defined as the change in geometry of a component after forming, when the forces are removed from forming tools. As springback affects the final shape of the part, it can lead to significant difficulties in the assembly of component when springback is not proper. This problem leads to fabrication of inconsistent sheet metal parts; the elastic strain recovery in the material after the tooling is removed. Bendingis the plastic deformation of metals about a linear axis called the bending axis with little or no change in the surface area. Bending types of forming operations have been used widely in sheet metal forming industries to produce structural stamping parts such as braces, brackets, supports, hinges, angles, frames, channel and other nonsymmetrical sheet metal parts. Among them, quite a few efforts have been made to obtain a deep understanding of the springback phenomenon. The beam theory has been applied to formulate the curvature before and after loading of pipe. This research work has focused on study effect of springback effect with a new approach. The ANSYS software is used to analyze spring back effect. The detail study of this springback effect is presented in this paper.

One of the environmental problems caused by the increasing growth of the industry.Industrial waste generated that goes into the soil can alter soil properties. This studyreviewing the nature of the soil as a result of the distribution of residual waste CPO (CrudePalm Oil) industry mills. This study uses the characteristics of resistivity and soil nutrientproperties. Soil resistivity properties were tested by making a model before and after thedistribution of waste residue does CPO. Then validated against field measurements, fieldmeasurements comparing the data with the model. To see the changes in nutrient content ofsoil Laboratory Testing properties of soil nutrient changes. The results showed that theresistivity properties change and nutrient content of the soil before and after the distributionof waste residue subjected CPO. Soil resistivity values that have mixed by CPO residualwaste is higher than the value of soil resistivity is not mixed waste palm oil residues, while thecontent of soil nutrients among other properties, increasing soil pH, Include content C-Organic (%) / Inceneration, P-Available (ppm) / Bray-1, N-Total (%) / Kjedahl decreaseddramatically.

For analyzing and evaluating the deformation features of channel goaf foundation and its effect on superstructure, according to the foundation reinforcement engineering of Ji-Liang Channel Check Gate, the comparative analysis on the differential settlement between the unfavorable foundation and natural foundation was performed by numerical simulation with FLAC3D. The computer results showed that the present foundation had obvious effect on the stability and security of the superstructure, so the engineering treatment are needed. Based on technical-economic comprehensive analysis among three treatment methods for strengthening the channel golf foundation with different kinds of filling, the reasonable method is put forward in this paper. By comparing mechanical characteristic of flashboard in channel goaf before and after strengthening, we confirmed the foundation stability of channel goaf and the security of the ground building which can satisfy the long term usage requirements.

A bad initialization of output-error (OE) technique can lead to an inappropriate identification results. In this paper, we introduce a solution to this problem; the basic idea is to estimate the parameters and the fractional order of the noninteger system by a new approach of least-squares (LS) method based on repeated fractional integration to initialize OE technique. It will be shown that LS method offers a good initialization to OE algorithm and leads to acceptable identification results. The performance of the proposed method is shown through numerical simulation examples.

In order to build a reliable index to monitor the depth of anesthesia (DOA), many algorithms have been proposed in recent years, one of which is sample entropy (SampEn), a commonly used and important tool to measure the regularity of data series. However, SampEn only estimates the complexity of signals on one time scale. In this study, a new approach is introduced using multiscale entropy (MSE) considering the structure information over different time scales. The entropy values over different time scales calculated through MSE are applied as the input data to train an artificial neural network (ANN) model using bispectral index (BIS) or expert assessment of conscious level (EACL) as the target. To test the performance of the new index’s sensitivity to artifacts, we compared the results before and after filtration by multivariate empirical mode decomposition (MEMD). The new approach via ANN is utilized in real EEG signals collected from 26 patients before and after filtering by MEMD, respectively; the results show that is a higher correlation between index from the proposed approach and the gold standard compared with SampEn. Moreover, the proposed approach is more structurally robust to noise and artifacts which indicates that it can be used for monitoring the DOA more accurately.

Students generally do not understand how basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) material fits into all of their engineering courses. Basic material is presented in introductory courses but the relationship of the material to subsequent courses is unclear to the student since the practical relevance of the material is not necessarily presented. Students generally hit the “reset button” after each course not realizing the importance of basic STEM material. The capstone experience is supposed to “tie all the pieces together” but this occurs too late in the student’s educational career. A new multisemester interwoven dynamic systems project has been initiated to better integrate the material from differential equations, mathematical methods, laboratory measurements and dynamic systems across several semesters/courses so that the students can better understand the relationship of basic STEM material to an ongoing problem. This paper highlights the overall concept to be addressed by the new approach. The description of the project and modules under development are discussed.
