Rational and orderly passenger organization in subway station can improve travel efficiency and safety. How to improve the efficiency of security check, which has a significant impact on the passenger organization, to reduce passengers staying time in the terminal level has the potential to improve service satisfaction. The Weidong Station of Line 1 of Nanchang Metro was selected as the research object. Anylogic software was used to simulate the process of arrival, ticket purchase, security check, gate-crossing machine etc. The results indicate that the dynamic adjustment of security checkpoints and fast passage for passengers without luggage can improve the security efficiency and relieve the congestion in the station hall.

Scientific and effective operation control of the Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project (MRP) is crucial to ensure water conveyance safety. As the longest water transfer project in China, its operation is confronted with unprecedented difficulties since it is controlled by a large number of check gates and diversion gates, subject to multiple constraints, and has no online regulation reservoirs. No automatic control models have been successfully put into use yet. This paper firstly introduced an expanded downstream depth operation method, and then scheduled the delivery using the volume balance principle and chartography according to the possible combination of flow change of the check gate, water volume change of the pool and flow change of diversions. Next, an improved real-time control model was established on the basis of PI controller, and the models were integrated into an automatic system for daily operation. Finally, a case study was carried out. Results showed that water level variations could be controlled within the target interval (0.25 m), and users’ demands could be met five times more rapidly. In addition, the total times of check gate operation could be reduced almost two times. The findings could promote the intelligent operation of the MRP.

Currently, the concept of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) is reaching most companies by changing the characteristics of their production systems. The aim of this study was to determine the possibilities of applying I4.0 concepts and tools to the product development process in a small- to medium-sized enterprise (SME)—a food processing technology supplier that offers individually tailored solutions. The study employs the case study methodology along with conceptual studies. Based on the available I4.0 concepts/technologies, the areas of the process that could be improved were identified. The study concludes with proposing several modifications in the process in the context of I4.0. Some of the process stages can be shortened by implementing I4.0 tools. It was found that the length of the process can be shortened from 36 to 26 months, and possible gains also include energy savings. Technological tools, referred to as augmented/virtual reality, along with simulations and virtual manufacturing, seem to have particular applicability. The energy savings estimation emerged as a check gate evaluating if technological implementations are justified. Directions for further research with reference to I4.0 and studied processes are determined.

To realize demand-oriented operations in the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project, this paper proposed a pool operation method that a variation interval of water level at the upstream of the check gate is allowed. In this method, water users’ demand for flow changes can be satisfied as much as possible. Accordingly, downstream water depth is kept to fluctuate within a certain range, which is determined considering the canal safety, the operation frequency of check gates and the pool delay. The method is tested using the self-developed simulation platform for the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project, which is established based on the Saint-Venant equations and programmed with the language Fortran. Results show that the flow changes demanded by water users, either increase or decrease, can be achieved effectively, while the water level variations can meet the restrictions for canal operation safety, and the frequency of gate adjustment is practically acceptable as well. Therefore, the operation method of allowing variation interval of downstream water level is suitable in the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project at the current stage.

Here we propose two practical protocols to concentrate entanglement between separate nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers in less entangled state via coupling to microtoroidal resonators. We construct the parity check gate of the N-V center and microtoroidal resonator systems via the interaction with the ancillary photon input-output process near the microtoroidal resonators. Thus the parity of the N-V center state can be readout by the measurement on the ancillary photon. Then we introduce the parity check operations to entanglement concentration protocols. Considering current techniques, we also discuss the feasibility of our proposal and its experimental challenges.

For analyzing and evaluating the deformation features of channel goaf foundation and its effect on superstructure, according to the foundation reinforcement engineering of Ji-Liang Channel Check Gate, the comparative analysis on the differential settlement between the unfavorable foundation and natural foundation was performed by numerical simulation with FLAC3D. The computer results showed that the present foundation had obvious effect on the stability and security of the superstructure, so the engineering treatment are needed. Based on technical-economic comprehensive analysis among three treatment methods for strengthening the channel golf foundation with different kinds of filling, the reasonable method is put forward in this paper. By comparing mechanical characteristic of flashboard in channel goaf before and after strengthening, we confirmed the foundation stability of channel goaf and the security of the ground building which can satisfy the long term usage requirements.
