We provided numerical analysis using Computational Fluid Dynamics tools to find out the effects of the systems interaction in representative car park building and different configuration of smoke control systems. We conducted the qualitative and quantitative research to obtain the patterns and times of the sprinklers activation. We analysed the influence of Smoke Control System on the effectiveness of the Sprinkler System. As a results of the research we created general conclusions which can be used as a set of guidelines during designing process. Moreover some results can encourage other scientists for further numerical analysis or real scale tests.

Fire prevention system of subway station plays an important role in ensuring passenger safety. The Shenyang Youth Street subway station fire prevention system safety was studied, applying performance-based fire protection design analysis method, using of FDS simulation software on the station fire prevention safety system for the calculation and analysis. Three working conditions were set when subway fire happens. Fire smoke flow characteristics and the distribution of temperature, CO concentration and visibility were analyzed and compared. The results show that the automatic sprinkler system and smoke control system have great effect on the preventing spread of fire. In the automatic sprinkler system and smoke control system conditions, fire hazards have not reached the standards of passengers tolerance.

In the event of a fire in a building equipped with air-pressure smoke-control equipment, if the smoke-control system is operated with a closed fire door, then the smoke discharge results in difficulty in opening the door. In this study, an optimal solution was devised to solve the problem of negative pressure generation in building corridors, and the proposed solution was verified using CONTAMW, a numerical analysis program for smoke-retardant facilities. Thus, it was confirmed that negative pressure in a corridor could be resolved by installing flap and automotive pressure dampers between the corridor and annex.

The main purpose of this article is to describe the principles of CO ventilation in car parks and to provide a brief description of smoke extraction and control system. It provides information on the possibilities provided by jet ventilation. In closed car park, inRomania, we use for CO and smoke extraction system fans and a lot of ducts. In many country of theEurope, they use for this jet ventilation system, without ducts, characterized by low installation and energy costs.

A smoke exhaust system must be installed basically in all high-rise buildings in Japan, in order to eliminate smoke and gas from combustible materials and ensure safe evacuation effectively. However, a new problem, i.e., the difficulty of opening and closing doors when a smoke exhaust fan is operating, has occurred since air-tightness has been improved in high-rise buildings. There are therefore many cases recently where a pressurized smoke control system is adopted. In this paper, the basic concept of this system is described and the pressurized smoke control system that is used in Harumi Triton Square, one of the largest high-rise buildings in Japan.
