Abstract The results of a previous study (Banks 2018) suggest that the development of scientific writing is more conservative in times of great turbulence. In an attempt to verify this, samples were taken from the Mémoires de l’Académie des Sciences and the Philosophical Transactions for the years 1735, 1785 and 1835. The development over the years 1735 to 1785 was compared to that between 1785 and 1835. Analysis of the grammatical functions and semantic categories of themes and of process types indicates that there is some evidence in favour of the conjecture that scientific writers are more conservative in times of turbulence. Whilst this is not conclusive, it suggests that further research would be fruitful.

The naturalistic fallacy occurs when a person reads a report of scientific research and concludes that the moral implication of the research was included in the article when, in fact, it was not. For example, the fallacy is committed when a study contains the conclusion that TV advertising increases preference for sugar-based foods, but the reader later believes that the study concluded that TV advertising should be controlled. Previous research indicates that the commission of the fallacy was strong when memory for social research was tested. The present study showed that the commission of the fallacy was stronger when the research which was read involved children as subjects compared to adult subjects. Increased empathy for the subjects of a research article strengthens commission of the fallacy.

Long neglected as a primary impetus of study, textual silences abound in such field disciplines as geology, where most field results seem to ‘disappear’ from the published research article. This paper first discusses the nature of textual silence and then proposes a typology of textual silences associated with written scientific discourse. Next, by examining the different disciplinary genres involved in the “recontextualizations” of a fieldwork study in geology, this study seeks to (1) identify textual silence in the various recontextualizations and (2) offer explanations for it.

The aim of this scientific research article is to justify the term “real happiness” and the investigation of this phœnomen in the Latgale region.A number of studies confirmed the link between happiness and the socio-economic conditions in the state. The low standard of living of Latgale’s inhabitants resulted in a fast decline of the number of inhabitants in the region. The unemployment rate in Latgale is the largest rate of unemployment in Latvia. For this reason, the problem of well-being, the integral psychological part of which is a sense of real happiness is very topical in this region. The theoretical interpretation of happiness in this article is based on the interpretation of this phenomenon as the degree of realization of the person's vital values. The term “real happiness” is used in the context of this understanding of happiness. This interpretation allows us to fully study the phenomenon of happiness, in contrast to the hedonistic concept of this phenomenon, according to which happiness is treated only as a pleasure. The author developed methodology „Real Happiness Scales”, were used in the research paper. It was found out that the low level of feeling of real happiness is a topical problem for Latgale people, since 57.53 % can be classified as unhappy according the structure of this phenomenon.

In science and scientific research there is a wide spectre of fields and subfields which are not always strictly confined. Different classifications of sciences are also known. Numerous books have been published regarding scientific research, types of scientific papers and manners in which their results are published. This literature is very detailed and precise within international academic circles, especially the literature that relates to publishing scientific books and doctoral theses. However, there are certain dilemmas and in?consistencies which can confuse a young scientist when writing an original research article. After a brief review of issues pertinent to scientific paper writing, methodology of scientific research and type of papers, this paper shows characteristics and construction of an original research article. It shows a technique of writing a paper in all scientific fields and subfields with special emphasis on natural and engineering sciences and in accordance with international and domestic standards. Wider practical guidelines can be found in the cited literature, so they can be additionally used, if needed.

Choosing a scientific journal for publication of research article or review paper is a universal problem faced by all scientists and PhD students after finishing his/her scientific research. Generally, the authors of pharmaceutical and medical journals are neither paid nor do they expect any financial recompense for their publication. What then is the motivating power behind researcher’s enthusiasm to publish their paper? It is possibly, the pleasure and gratification of being an element of the progression of pharmaceutical sciences and medicine through research and successive publication.Nevertheless, the true worth of a research deception is in its citation by other scientists after publication. Thus, the paper should be read by as several researchers as possible. The aim of this editorial paper is to talk about the significant reasons that the scientist and author should consider and judge while choosing International Journal of Pharmacology, Phytochemistry and Ethnomedicine (IJPPE) for submission and publication, so as to improve and increase the probability of acceptance to add value to their research and study, and most of all guarantee an extensive distribution and readership. Then why not submit and publish your best scientific articles in IJPPE and add value to your research and paper.
