Retrofitting works has become increasingly important in the construction industry, as it plays an effective role in providing solutions to maintain, upgrade or change the functions to the existing or aged buildings. Very often, safety issues of retrofitting works are underestimated because there may be unreported accidents in small projects and there is no separate classification of accident statistics for the retrofitting works within the construction industry. As safety climate is widely regarded as a contributing factor to safety performance, the aim of this research was to examine the relationship between safety climate and safety performance in retrofitting works context. The safety climate questionnaire NOSACQ-50 has been employed to measure safety climate in retrofitting works. Field patrols were undertaken to distribute the safety questionnaires to the local worksites that undertake retrofits in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. 264 valid questionnaires were collected. SEM was employed to examine the existence and strength of the relationship between safety climate and safety performance. PLS-SEM was utilised to estimate the parameters of the structural model. The model has exposed a positive relationship between safety climate and safety performance in retrofitting context. This research was the first to examine the relationship between the second order latent variables. A positive relationship (0.60 with 36 percent of explained variance) was found between safety climate and safety performance.

We conceptualize that safety culture (SC) has a positive impact on employee’s safety performance by reducing their psychosocial hazard. A higher level of safety culture environment reduces psychosocial hazards by improving the employee performance towards safety concerns. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how psychosocial hazard mediates the relationship between safety culture and safety performance. Data were collected from 380 production employees in three states of Malaysia from the upstream oil and gas sector. Structural equation modeling was implemented to test the suggested hypotheses. The proposed model was evaluated using structural equation modeling. A stratified sampling with a Likert 5-point scale was used to distribute the questionnaires. Furthermore, the proposed model was tested using the simulation of the structural equation and partial. All hypotheses results showed strong support. According to our findings, all hypotheses are significant. A review of prior studies was used to select the items of the dimension for the data collection. Safety culture was assessed with psychosocial hazard to determine its direct and indirect impact on safety performance. Results suggested that to enhance safety performance (leading and lagging), psychosocial concerns in the workplace environments should be taken into consideration by employees. In addition, the findings showed that the psychosocial hazard fully mediates the relationship between safety culture and safety performance.

Purpose: Finding out the relationship model among the climate of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH), behavior intention on OSH performance to prevent the needlestick injury (NSI) based on (TPB) Theory Planed Behaviour. Method: using a mixed method approach of qualitative and quantitative. Data from the questionnaires of SEM, observation, documentation and interviews were analyzed qualitatively. The population was all nurses at Hospiltal of dr.Sardjito in Yogyakarta, the sample consisted of 289 respondents of  purposive random with the accuracy level of 5%. Result: OSH climate consisting of attitude, norm and Perceived Behavior Control (PBC) effect on intention (safety intention). Indirect OSH climate influence on safety performance, but it must through intention. Intention directly affects safety performance in the form of behavior to implement NSI prevention procedure (NSI). Conclusion: attitudes to risk, attitudes to leader’s commitment as role models, and group norms, as well as beliefs in the ability to perform safety & health procedures determine the safety climate that will lead to an intention to safety & health behavior as OSH performance. The procedures preparation and implementation of NSI prevention should consider the model of this research result in order to work safely and healthy.

Introduction: Safety performance is defined as efforts undertaken by organizations with the crucial aim of curtailing accidents and injuries to workers. It plays a crucial role in an organization aiming to achieve an anticipated outcome. A plethora of studies have found positive association between safety culture and safety performance of organizations. However, little is known on how the mechanism through which organizational safety culture exerts its influence on safety performance. Thus, this study investigates the indirect effect of safety management system in the relationship between organizational safety culture and safety performance. Methods: This study employs the use of a 5-point Likert questionnaire to collect data from 134 respondents who are head of safety officers in F&B industries located in Lagos, Nigeria. SmartPLS 2.0 was used for data analysis. Results: Results from path analysis revealed that safety culture and safety management system positively relate to safety performance. Furthermore, the mediation analysis indicated an indirect effect of safety management system in the relationship between safety culture and safety performance. Conclusion: It is concluded that though safety culture has a significant positive relationship on safety performance, however its effect will be more if F&B organizations create and constantly implement a robust safety management system.

We developed and tested a model linking safety innovation intention with safety innovation behavior and safety performance. Participants were 407 employees of blasting, chemical, mining, and other high-risk industries in China. The results indicated that safety innovation intention was positively associated with safety performance, and safety innovation behavior played a partial mediating role in this relationship. In addition, safety climate moderated the relationship between safety innovation intention and safety innovation behavior, which mediated the interaction of safety climate and safety innovation behavior in predicting safety performance. The results support the importance of the effect of organizations' subjective intention and climate on their innovation behavior and performance in the safety domain.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate factors affecting safety climate, safety culture, safety performance, and the effect of safety climate and culture on safety performance in Fırat University Medical Faculty Hospital. Method: The population of this cross-sectional, descriptive study consisted of doctors, midwives, nurses and other medical staff (1454 people) working at Fırat University Medical Faculty Hospital. The minimum sample size of the study was calculated as 616 with a 95% confidence interval and 3% margin of error using the Epi Info program. The data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of personal information form, safety climate scale, safety culture scale and safety performance scale. The Kolmogrov-Smirnov, Man-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, chi-square test, ROC, internal reliability, simple linear regression and multivariate linear regression analysis were used in data analysis. Results: The median age of the participants was 31.0. Of the participants, 50.6% were women, 61.9% were married and 38.0% had graduate or higher levels of education. It was determined that those who had information on occupational accidents and diseases had higher perceptions of safety climate, safety culture and safety performance. Furthermore, safety climate, safety culture and safety performance were positively correlated. As a result of simple linear regression, it was determined that the security climate explained 12.1% and the security culture 17.6% of security performance. Conclusion: It was concluded that trainings should be increased and repeated periodically, reporting near-miss events should be facilitated. Finally, occupational health and safety unit should be established, and inspections should be increased.
