Abstract This paper studies the silicone rubber insulation coating material used for the modification of overhead bare wires. The influence of two reinforcing fillers of silicone rubber on the density, mechanical properties and electrical properties of insulating coating materials was explored. Finally,25 copies of white carbon black were selected as a reinforcing filler to prepare a low-density, high-strength, and good insulating silicone insulating coating material.

In this work, the growth mechanisms of chemical vapor deposited and metallurgical graphene and their selected mechanical and electrical properties were investigated. The study revealed the influence of the growth mechanisms on monoand poly-crystalline nanostructures of synthesized graphene monolayers. The structure of flake boundaries greatly affects both the mechanical and electrical properties. The key factors are overlapping of the graphene flakes, their degree of mismatch and the presence of π type bonds. All of these issues should be taken into account when developing industrially scaled technologies for graphene manufacturing.

Silicone rubber is an essential construction material in food industry, medicine and in some fields of mechanical engineering, because it has good mechanical, electrical, biological and other special properties. One needs to know these material properties in order to develop silicone sensors. We performed several standard measurements for rubber, like tensile strength, cyclic tensile, bending, fatiguing, stress relaxation tests etc. To investigate the electrical properties, we measured the resistance of silicone during the mechanical tests. The paper summarizes the newest results of our research in connection with mechanical and electrical properties of conductive silicone rubber.

Abstract In this work, an investigation of the pressure-sensing properties of a silicone rubber was conducted. Small amounts of carbon black were added to the silicone during fabrication and the effect on the sensitivity was explored. A full investigation of the mechanical and electrical properties of each composition shows that adding carbon black to the material greatly increases its sensitivity to pressure. This increase in sensitivity appears to be related to improvements in the material’s permittivity, which increases with carbon loading.
