Abstract A farmercorporation-based seed production system is needed to bring seeds closer to farmers. Its developmen requires support from several institutions related to the policy of providing seeds for farmers. This study aims to determine the role of the institution in the farmer-based hybrid maize production system. Five institutions evaluated for their role, namely Indonesian Cereals Research Institute (ICERI) as a source of seeds and technology, Assessment for Agricultural Technology (AIAT) as aassistence for application technology in the field, Agricultural Service Office as a policymaker in available seed for farmer, Seed Certification and Inspection Center (SSO) as the supervisor of seed quality, and the grower local as an absorber of the results by farmer groups. The role of the institution is observed through: socialization activity, field observations, and discussions. The results showed that all institutions have gave various supports. ICERI has provided seeds in a timelymanner, the right quality and the right quantity, and also conducts regular training and monitoring to provide instructions for implementing good technology application to farmers and by farmers it is considered very good. AIAT provides field assistance for the application of production technology, but the activities are considered by farmers to be inadequate, the staff of Agriculture Service continue to motivate farmers and farmers are deemed adequate. SCIC as a seed supervisor continues to assist farmers in the field, in addition to monitoring irregularities, it also continues to provide guidance to farmers in accordance withthe standar operational procedure of hybrid maize seeds and is considered very good by farmers. Then the seed producers who absorb the results of the farmers have carried out excellent guidance such as placing quality control personnel in the field to control implementation, absorbing farmers’ products at an agreed price, building a processing unit in the site area, and by the farmers it is considered very good. With adequate support from related institutions, farmers continue to be motivated to produce hybrid maize seeds, which were originally only 100 ha in Minahasa district, then expanded to surrounding districts, sothat the area production increase from 253,4 ha in 2019 to 480 ha in 2020.

Abstract The development of agriculture through technological processes in the field of agriculture is a dynamic of society that results in certain changes in its socio-economic life. The changes that occur in the farming community of hybrid corn seed production include changes in social aspects and economic aspects. In an effort to increase the production and productivity of hybrid corn, quality seeds are needed. To obtain quality seeds, internal and external monitoring is required in accordance with the management of seed quality standards. In seed production, there are two obstacles that are often faced, including social constraints in setting planting distance and time isolation, roguing, and detasseling. Economic constraints are caused by limited capital owned by farmers and the marketing system that is tied to the rights of seed licensors. To anticipate the obstacles that arise in the farming community, the role of the government is needed to take various steps and policies that can support farmers in dealing with their problems. In this case, government support is highly expected in determining the mapping of the seed area so that it can guarantee the purity of the crop in seed production.

Just-in-time JIT, as the name implies, is to produce goods just-in-time for use or sale. It is a Japanese manufacturing management method developed by TaiichiOhno, father of Toyota production system in the 1970s which had its motivation in the Japanese urge to develop better and efficient technique capable of rebuilding their economy after the 2nd World War by focusing on elimination of waste in all forms. In the case of service processing distribution network the customers always needs the right material at right time in right quantity and in right quality for achieving this goal for customer satisfaction the service processing distributors always tries to perform better and better by using new methodology. In this research we will tries to find the role of JIT for achieving customer satisfaction in service processing and distribution network.

The hydration pattern associated with the physiological quality of seeds can be an early indicator for the evaluation of seed quality. The present study aimed to evaluate the hydration pattern of seeds subjected, or not, to water restriction, and to relate these patterns to their physiological quality. The physiological quality of seeds from five maize strains (L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5) and four hybrids (HT1, HT2, HS1, and HS2) was initially determined using seed germination and vigor tests (accelerated ageing and electric conductivity). A completely randomized experimental design was used with four repeats for the physiological analyses and a regression analysis was performed in order to assess the behavior of the seeds over time. The hydration curve was determined by imbibing the seeds in distilled water (0.0 control) and in a -0.9-MPa osmotic solution of polyethylene glycol 6000. Water uptake by the seeds was found to follow a triphasic pattern in the absence of water stress (0.0 MPa); however, when exposed to a -0.9- MPa osmotic potential, an extended phase II was observed. Diversity was observed between the strains in terms of the hydration pattern of the seeds, which can influence the physiological quality of the hybrid seeds. Regarding the hybrids, a positive relationship was observed between the shortest time to root protrusion and the quality of the seeds, both with or without water restriction, which allows us to conclude that hydration pattern can be used as a parameter for the early evaluation of physiological quality in hybrid maize seeds.

The effort to increase hybrid maize in Indonesia is one of the government's crucial programs. Given that multinational companies still master hybrid corn seed technology, farmers need to become independent seed producers with the introduction of technology. Despite the difficulty level of technology, capital and resources are limited. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of hybrid corn seed technology using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) approach in the demonstration plot of maize nurseries in Kendal Regency in 2018-2019. We surveyed at the end of 2019 activities to 33 farmers and 12 assisting officers. The result of this research is the level of interest suitability and technology performance of hybrid corn seeds of 82.61 percent. The average competent value of interest is 4.39, and the performance value is 3.63. Three attributes that have a high level of significance, but whose performance is not yet optimal are rouging, detasselling, and machine seed processing. In the future, evaluate the three attributes as an effort to produce quality hybrid maize seeds at the farmer level on a large scale that can be activated.

The character of growth and production of hybrid maize seeds in Bima URI 20 used a three-way cross. The female elders of Bima 4 variety and male elders (G180 / Mr14 x Nei 9008P). The research objective was to see the relationship between growth and three-bonded mother trees in the production of Bima 20 URI hybrid maize seeds. The research was conducted in Kendal Regency with an area of 2 hectares in MK-1 2019 through the OFCOR (On-Farm Client-Oriented Research) approach. This research uses descriptive analysis and the relationship between variables. The results showed that genetic and environmental factors influenced the growth of parent seeds. Rise of male elders 96.5%, female elders 98.6%, Tall plants 208.5 cm, male elders 148.4 cm, ear height 74.1 cm, male elders 57.9 cm, age the female flowers 50.35, and male flowers 47.8. The results of the assessment test for the parameters of ear weight assessment, seed weight per ear, and 1000 dry seed weight resulted in a value of 0.8-0.9 that indicated that the characters had a strong effect on plant productivity and growth.

Proper irrigation management is critical to conserve and protect water resources and to properly manage nutrients in the home landscape. How lawns and landscapes are irrigated directly impacts the natural environment, so landscape maintenance professionals and homeowners must adopt environmentally-friendly approaches to irrigation management. After selecting the right plant for the right place, water is the next critical factor to establish and maintain a healthy lawn and landscape. Fertilization is another important component of lawn and landscape maintenance, and irrigation must be applied correctly, especially following fertilization, to minimize potential nutrient losses. This publication supplements other UF/IFAS Extension publications that also include information on the role of soil and the root zone in irrigation management. This publication is designed to help UF/IFAS Extension county agents prepare materials to directly address nutrient losses from lawns and landscapes caused by inadequate irrigation management practices.
