We developed a Surface Differential Scanning Calorimeter for the quantitative analyses of thermodynamic and heat transfer properties of thin fibrous and porous samples. It has been demonstrated that the calorimeter is capable of measuring cooling power as well as temperature decrease in a reliable and reproducible way. Considering its low cost the equipment can be a valuable option for studying cooling/heating systems in laboratory settings.

The configuration of LED street lamp is important for its high security and low cost requirements. The modular method is introduced to design LED street lamp with independent light source and heat dissipation structure. In the single module heat pipe technology radiator is used to improve the LED street lamp of the cooling efficiency. For the 60W LED module, the optical lens are designed with the angles of 60 ° and 30 ° respectively and the average temperature is 329 K on each observation sides of the module.

In the hot stamping process, die gap may affect cooling efficiency of the die and the condition of stress-strain. When other conditions are same, die gap were taken for 0.9t, t, 1.1 t, 1.2 t, t is sheetthickness. Temperature field and thickness distribution of the parts are simulated by ANSYS/LS-DYNA module, it is discovered that the distribution of temperature and thickness is uniform when the die gap is 1t and 1.1t. Finally, an experimental is designed to verify the simulation accuracy.

Near- α titanium alloys have extensive applications in high temperature structural components of aircrafts. To manufacture complex-shaped titanium alloy panel parts with desired microstructure and good properties, an innovative low-cost hot stamping process for titanium alloy was studied in this paper. Firstly, a series of hot tensile tests and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) observations were performed to investigate hot deformation characteristics and identify typical microstructural evolutions. The optimal forming temperature range is determined to be from 750 °C to 900 °C for hot stamping of TA15. In addition, a unified mechanisms-based material model for TA15 titanium alloy based on the softening mechanisms of recrystallization and damage was established, which enables to precisely predict stress-strain behaviors and potentially to be implemented into Finite Element (FE) simulations for designing the reasonable processing window of structural parts for the aerospace industry.

During the process of hot stamping, due to the deformations of sheet metals are mainly bending and shallow drawing, as well as to prevent the temperature strikingly drop caused by the local contact of sheet metal and die, the hot stamping tool usually does not set up blank-holder. And this leads to the occurrence of local wrinkles in some types of hot stamping parts, which affect the quality of the parts. Through the hot stamping tool design and process test of a car ́s B pillar, it discovered that the local wrinkle in the part ́s big end is more severe. As a result the program was modified by taking advantage of the forming principle of the counter punch to improve the design of upper tool (die), which eliminated the local wrinkle in the big end and improved the contact cooling efficiency, consequently ensured the hot forming parts ́ quality and reduced the production rhythm.

The preservation of fresh produce can provide rural households with better diets all-year round and income by reducing their deterioration. Promotion of low-cost temporary storage technologies requires evidence of their effectiveness to attain conducive conditions. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of an evaporative charcoal cooler for the preservation of tomatoes and kales. The cooler microclimate and outdoor conditions were investigated by measuring the air temperature and relative humidity. During the study period, the maximum temperature difference between the cooler and the outdoors was found to be 9.2 °C while the maximum relative humidity difference was 36.8%. Due to the presence of light rain and, consequently, low solar radiation, the temperature and relative humidity differences were significantly reduced. Despite the light rain, the cooler still registered a maximum relative humidity of 83.5% and a maximum cooling efficiency of 91.5%. Overall, the cooler demonstrated promising results in terms of favourable microclimate conditions, the shelf-life and colour changes for tomatoes and kales.
