Rhinoplasty is the aesthetic surgical intervention that covers the reshaping of the external nasal pyramid. It includes aesthetic and functional aspects, and addresses developmental or acquired pathology. Characteristically, it is associated with significant psychological overlay and due to the complex three-dimensional nasal structure it is the object of intense patient scrutiny involving fine detail from multiple angles. Nasal physiology characteristics dictate that aesthetic alterations can have profound physiological effects that need to be considered carefully in the design and execution of rhinoplasty surgery.

Abstract Communication of goals and realistic expectations between the surgeon and patient is a crucial step of the aesthetic rhinoplasty. Three-dimensional imaging technology allows for sharing of simulated outcomes in the office setting, thereby facilitating this process. This article highlights the use of three-dimensional rhinoplasty simulation in preoperative assessment and the senior author’s preferred surgical technique in open rhinoplasty.

Introduction and Objectives: Surgical treatment for trigonocephaly aims to eliminate a stigmatizing deformity, yet the severity that captures unwanted attention is unknown. Surgeons intervene at different points of severity, eliciting controversy. This study used eye tracking to investigate when deformity is perceived. Material and Methods: Three-dimensional photogrammetric images of a normal child and a child with trigonocephaly were mathematically deformed, in 10% increments, to create a spectrum of 11 images. These images were shown to participants using an eye tracker. Participants’ gaze patterns were analyzed, and participants were asked if each image looked “normal” or “abnormal.” Results: Sixty-six graduate students were recruited. Average dwell time toward pathologic areas of interest (AOIs) increased proportionally, from 0.77 ± 0.33 seconds at 0% deformity to 1.08 ± 0.75 seconds at 100% deformity ( P < .0001). A majority of participants did not agree an image looked “abnormal” until 90% deformity from any angle. Conclusion: Eye tracking can be used as a proxy for attention threshold toward orbitofrontal deformity. The amount of attention toward orbitofrontal AOIs increased proportionally with severity. Participants did not generally agree there was “abnormality” until deformity was severe. This study supports the assertion that surgical intervention may be best reserved for more severe deformity.

Double lip or macrocheilitis is a rare facial anomaly, mostly congenital in origin. It commonly involves the upper lip than the lower lip. It may occur in isolation or as part of the Ascher’s syndrome. It results due to deposition of excessive areolar tissue and non-inflammatory hyperplasia of labial mucosa gland of pars villosa. It may be acquired as a result of injury to the lips or lip-biting habit. The double lip becomes conspicuous when the lips are retracted during smiling resulting in the characteristic ‘cupid’s bow’ appearance. This disfigurement can pose aesthetic and functional problems and may result in psychological distress. A surgical intervention is must for restoration of functions and to address the aesthetic concerns. The present article reports a case of non-syndromic double upper lip with triple labial frena and its surgical management with laser on one side and with scalpel on the other side.

Background: The low levels of patient satisfaction and confidence in the restoration of the gingival resorption results in impaired quality of life in both functional and psychosocial aspects. It is necessary to manufacture a dental restoration to restore the mastication, phonetic, and aesthetic functions associated with soft tissue repair. Manufacture of gingiva ceramic restorations which are believed to be an alternative to restore the aesthetic function and harmonization of the patient’s teeth. In terms of manufacturing techniques, this restoration has a level of difficulty in achieving a balance between “White aesthetic” and “aesthetic pink”. Objective: This study aims to provide knowledge to the reader of Manufacturing Technique of Metal Ceramic Restoration with Implant-Abutment at Gingival Resorption Case. Reviews: Gingiva ceramic restorations can be used to create esthetic implant-supported restorations when bone and gingival tissues are deficient and surgical replacement of such tissues is not possible. Dental technicians should be able to analyze the three-dimensional shapes of gingival anatomy, color, texture, smile components, the balance of the “pink aesthetic” and “white aesthetic”. Conclusion: Manufacturing Technique of Metal Ceramic Restoration with Implant-Abutment at Gingival Resorption Case including the manufacture of metal coping, oxidation, application of opaque coating, application of the first “white aesthetic” ceramics (Opaque Dentine, Dentine, Enamel and transpa on crown coping restorations), Application of opaque gingiva layer, gingival ceramics build-up "pink aesthetics”, first firing, followed by correction build-up, and second firing, and ends with the glazing process.

The development of design activity uses technical suports that allow the architect to record the evolution of your idea or communication with it. Historically, the support that has been used is the graphical representation, which, as a intelligence technology, joins with the creative and cognitive processes of the individual, allowing communication with their imagination and also to all individuals involved in projecting. The representations graphically materialized, calls drawing,  are important in the practice of architecture because they represent the evolution of the design process. The drawing means the way in which design is conducted, tested, controlled and ultimately appears performed. In this context the drawings of the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio play a special role in the history of architecture, because it makes clear how he understood and thought the architecture. At that time, the graphical representation of the space acquired an importance that had not previously, incorporating a greater number of alternative representation, highlighting the aesthetic concerns and the current building techniques. A lot of drawings produced by Palladio, shows how he was deeply convinced of eloquence and priority of images to understand the architecture, more than any other form of discursive explanation. In this sense, this work investigates the drawings of Palladio as a tool at the process of design solutions translation. The reading of the project through the design has been used to study designs and architectural objects or certain styles or specific authorship of an architect. Here the method is used for reading the project of Villa Pisani in Bagnolo (1542). Using two and three dimensional drawings, represented by plan, section and volumetry, it is intended to make explicit certain aspects underlying the architectural work, as questions of proportion and symmetry. It is expected that, at the work of Palladio, this method allows to compare and understand drawings, in order to analyze mutations and replications and  search of new meanings, readings and interpretations.

Craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery is a challenging field. First it aims to restore primary functions and second to preserve craniofacial anatomical features like symmetry and harmony. Three-dimensional (3D) printed biomodels have been widely adopted in medical fields by providing tactile feedback and a superior appreciation of visuospatial relationship between anatomical structures. Craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery was one of the first areas to implement 3D printing technology in their practice. Biomodeling has been used in craniofacial reconstruction of traumatic injuries, congenital disorders, tumor removal, iatrogenic injuries (e.g., decompressive craniectomies), orthognathic surgery, and implantology. 3D printing has proven to improve and enable an optimization of preoperative planning, develop intraoperative guidance tools, reduce operative time, and significantly improve the biofunctional and the aesthetic outcome. This technology has also shown great potential in enriching the teaching of medical students and surgical residents. The aim of this review is to present the current status of 3D printing technology and its practical and innovative applications, specifically in craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery, illustrated with two clinical cases where the 3D printing technology was successfully used.

The most outstanding feature of face is the nose which is in furthering than any other feature to facial characteristics. Furthermore, the appealing aspects of the nose is an essential olfactory organ. Over and beyond the aesthetic and functional aspects the client's reaction to his/her own nose as well as the reaction of the people around to it impacts to the psychic characteristics. A non-probability purposive sample of this cross - sectional descriptive study was consisted of 100 young male and female in Kurdish ethnicity, their ages ranged between 21-25 years. The main objective of the study is conducted to assess the cosmetic factors, contribute to Rhinoplasty among both genders at Raparin District. The data collecting period were during the (December 15th, 2019 to January 5th, 2020). A self-administration questionnaire was used for data collection and it was designed according guidelines, literatures, and articles concerning Rhinoplasty; which consisted of 26 variables. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 23. The study results revealed that most of participants (67%) were female when only (17%) of them were married, however, more than half (67%) were students. Whenever, they about (56%) were barely sufficient in their monthly income. Moreover, about (61%) of participants interested to surgically alter the appearance of their nose, closely two-third (74%) of participants wanted to surgically change the function of their nose. Therefore, almost (87%) of participant relatives have been operated with Rhinoplasty. Also, the study demonstrated there is a statistically significant relationship between cosmetic factors contributing to Rhinoplasty with age (p=0.035) and occupation (p=0.037). When, there were strongly statistically significant association between cosmetic un-functional factors contributing to Rhinoplasty with level of education (p=0.003). The study recommended to plastic surgeons evaluate patients carefully before Rhinoplasty surgery to get rid of unnecessary surgeries because there are lots of complications related to Rhinoplasty and the psychological needs of the patients who undergo Rhinoplasty should be considered.

ABSTRACTThree-dimensional correlative light and electron microscopy (3D CLEM) are attaining popularity as a potential technique to explore the functional aspects of a cell together with high-resolution ultrastructural details across the cell volume. In order to perform such a 3D CLEM experiment, there is an imperative requirement for multi-modal probes that are both fluorescent and electron-dense. These multi-modal probes will serve as landmarks in matching up the large full cell volume datasets acquired by different imaging modalities. Fluorescent nanodiamonds (FNDs) are a unique nanosized, fluorescent, and electron-dense material from the nanocarbon family. We hereby propose a novel and straightforward method for executing 3D CLEM using FNDs as multi-modal landmarks. We demonstrate that FNDs is biocompatible and easily identified both in living cell fluorescence imaging and in serial block-face scanning electron microscopy (SB-EM). We illustrate the 3D CLEM method by registering multi-modal datasets.
