This chapter examines the relationship between parliamentarism and the legislative branch. It explores the evolution of the legislative branch, leading to disillusionment with the rationalized law-making factory, a venture run by political parties beyond the reach of constitutional rules. The rise of democratically bred party rule is positioned between the forces favouring free debate versus effective decision-making in the legislature. The chapter analyses the institutional make-up and internal operations of the legislature, the role of the opposition in the legislative assembly, and explores the benefits of bicameralism for boosting the powers of the legislative branch. Finally, it looks at the law-making process and its outsourcing via delegating legislative powers to the executive.

Abstract Introduction. Identification of the process of decision making by nurses is a basis for better preparation of future nurses to an independent, and at the same time, effective decision making. This is related with the provision of high quality nursing services. Aim. The objective of the presented study was identification of the decision making models applied by Polish nurses, and investigation of the relationship between specificity of work in individual wards and the applied model of decision making. Material and methods. The research instrument was the Finnish 56-item questionnaire form examining decision making by nurses. This questionnaire was translated and adjusted to the Polish conditions, and its psychometric properties were confirmed concerning validity and reliability. The study covered nurses employed in conservative treatment wards (n=977), surgical wards (n=361) and intensive care units (n=293); a total number of 1631 Polish nurses employed in the hospitals was examined. Results. Analysis of data showed that nurses from various wards in the study applied four models of decision making: analytical, intuitive, analytical-intuitive, and intuitive-analytical. Selection of the model used was associated with the specificity of work in individual wards. Conclusions. The studies confirmed that during the process of decision making the nurses used both analytical and intuitive approaches, according to the type of ward and the specificity of the work of a nurse.

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between cognitive distortions and decision-making skills among Al-Quds University students. Methodology: The current research was performed on a sample of (264) male and female students chosen using the random method. Both of cognitive distortions and decision-making skills measurements have been used. Validity and reliability of the study instruments were tested, and it was clear that the instruments were sufficiently reliable (stable) enough to meet the objectives of the study. Main Findings: Findings showed a negative relationship between cognitive distortions and decision-making skills among Al-Quds University students, and also suggested that the means for the total score of cognitive distortions and decision-making skills were moderate. Over-thinking reflected the dominant domain of cognitive distortions. Findings also revealed differences in cognitive distortions in favor of females, Faculty of Humanities, and residents of the village. Applications of the study: The strength of the negative relationship between distortions and decision-making can be deduced, as there is a need to improve students’ understanding of the risks of cognitive distortions, and seek to enhance the ability of decision-making skills. Novelty: Decision-making is one of the cognitive processes resulted from multiple-choice. Cognitive distortions influence decision-making skills. Thus, the purpose of this study was to overcome the barriers to negative thinking and to improve student capacity for appropriate and effective decision-making skills. We can obtain this using a direct relationship between cognitive distortions and decision-making skills.

With the advancement of information technology and the substantial increase in the production and usage of data, analytics has become an important new tool for effective decision-making processes in the organizations. The evolution of management to a digital and data-driven orientation has also caused a significant shift in the position of HRM from a more operational role to a strategic business partnership. With expeditious digitalization, along with the inevitable influence of globalization, human resource analytics (HRA) has rapidly become a crucial tool for organizations in all industries. Recent examples and catastrophic experiences, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have proven the vital role of HR analytics for organizations to survive in times of crisis. This chapter aims to summarize what HR analytics is, how it should be implemented and utilized, and how it will be effective and play a crucial role for organizations in order to be able to survive in a crisis situation.

There are three constitutional branches: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch, and they are the product of our constitution, our Basic Laws. They are of equal status, and the relationship between them is one of “checks and balances”. This system is designed to assure that each branch operates within the confines of its authority, for no branch may have unlimited powers. The purpose of checks and balances is not effective government; its purpose is to guarantee freedom. In this system of powers, the task of the judicial branch is to adjudicate conflicts according to the laws. For that purpose, the judicial branch has to perform three principal functions. The first is concerned with determining the facts. From the entirety of the facts, one should determine those facts which are relevant to adjudicating the conflict. The second function is concerned with determining the law. The third function is concerned with applying the law to the facts, and drawing the appropriate judicial conclusion.

This chapter discusses a radical solution to the problem that many protected areas are not in the right places to achieve maximum conservation benefit. The radical solution involves replacing underperforming protected areas with new ones that achieve more for conservation. Such a system revision was successfully undertaken in Bhutan as long ago as 1993. This chapter argues that designing robust policies and processes around reserve replacement will (i) force a thorough assessment of the role of protected areas against a clear set of conservation objectives, (ii) upgrade a poorly performing system of protected areas into a system that achieves better conservation outcomes for the same, or even a lower, overall budget, and (iii) allow for sober, transparent, and effective decision-making when parts of existing protected areas are under threat from development.

In business, most of companies focus on growing their profits. Besides considering profit from each product, they also focus on the relationship among products in order to support effective decision making, gain more profits and attract their customers, e.g. shelf arrangement, product displays, or product marketing, etc. Some high utility association rules have been proposed, however, they consume much memory and require long time processing. This paper proposes LHAR (Lattice-based for mining High utility Association Rules) algorithm to mine high utility association rules based on a lattice of high utility itemsets. The LHAR algorithm aims to generates high utility association rules during the process of building lattice of high utility itemsets, and thus it needs less memory and runtime
