BACKGROUND Cancer is one of the deadly diseases prevailing worldwide and the patients with cancer are rescued only when the cancer is detected at the very early stage. Early detection of cancer is essential as, in the final stage, the chance of survival is limited. The symptoms of cancers are rigorous and therefore, all the symptoms should be studied properly before the diagnosis. OBJECTIVE Propose an automatic prediction system for classifying cancer to malignant or benign. METHODS This paper introduces the novel strategy based on the JayaAnt lion optimization-based Deep recurrent neural network (JayaALO-based DeepRNN) for cancer classification. The steps followed in the developed model are data normalization, data transformation, feature dimension detection, and classification. The first step is the data normalization. The goal of data normalization is to eliminate data redundancy and to mitigate the storage of objects in a relational database that maintains the same information in several places. After that, the data transformation is carried out based on log transformation that generates the patterns using more interpretable and helps fulfill the supposition, and to reduce skew. Also, the non-negative matrix factorization is employed for reducing the feature dimension. Finally, the proposed JayaALO-based DeepRNN method effectively classifies cancer-based on the reduced dimension features to produce a satisfactory result. RESULTS The proposed JayaALO-based DeepRNN showed improved results with maximal accuracy of 95.97%, the maximal sensitivity of 95.95%, and the maximal specificity of 96.96%. CONCLUSIONS The resulted output of the proposed JayaALO-based DeepRNN is used for cancer classification.

AbstractPrevious studies have associated visual working memory (VWM) capacity with the use of internal attention. Retrocues, which direct internal attention to a particular object or feature dimension, can improve VWM performance (i.e., retrocue benefit, RCB). However, so far, no study has investigated the relationship between VWM capacity and the magnitudes of RCBs obtained from object-based and dimension-based retrocues. The present study explored individual differences in the magnitudes of object- and dimension-based RCBs and their relationships with VWM capacity. Participants completed a VWM capacity measurement, an object-based cue task, and a dimension-based cue task. We confirmed that both object- and dimension-based retrocues could improve VWM performance. We also found a significant positive correlation between the magnitudes of object- and dimension-based RCB indexes, suggesting a partly overlapping mechanism between the use of object- and dimension-based retrocues. However, our results provided no evidence for a correlation between VWM capacity and the magnitudes of the object- or dimension-based RCBs. Although inadequate attention control is usually assumed to be associated with VWM capacity, the results suggest that the internal attention mechanism for using retrocues in VWM retention is independent of VWM capacity.

Abstract Identification of human individuals within a group of 39 persons using micro-Doppler (μ-D) features has been investigated. Deep convolutional neural networks with two different training procedures have been used to perform classification. Visualization of the inner network layers revealed the sections of the input image most relevant when determining the class label of the target. A convolutional block attention module is added to provide a weighted feature vector in the channel and feature dimension, highlighting the relevant μ-D feature-filled areas in the image and improving classification performance.

Based on surface electromyography (sEMG), a novel recognition method to distinguish six types of human primary taste sensations was developed, and the recognition accuracy was 74.46%. The sEMG signals were acquired under the stimuli of no taste substance, distilled vinegar, white granulated sugar, instant coffee powder, refined salt, and Ajinomoto. Then, signals were preprocessed with the following steps: sample augments, removal of trend items, high-pass filter, and adaptive power frequency notch. Signals were classified with random forest and the classifier gave a five-fold cross-validation accuracy of 74.46%, which manifested the feasibility of the recognition task. To further improve the model performance, we explored the impact of feature dimension, electrode distribution, and subject diversity. Accordingly, we provided an optimized feature combination that reduced the number of feature types from 21 to 4, a preferable selection of electrode positions that reduced the number of channels from 6 to 4, and an analysis of the relation between subject diversity and model performance. This study provides guidance for further research on taste sensation recognition with sEMG.

The influencing factors of coal and gas outburst are complex, now the accuracy and efficiency of outburst prediction and are not high, in order to obtain the effective features from influencing factors and realize the accurate and fast dynamic prediction of coal and gas outburst, this article proposes an outburst prediction model based on the coupling of feature selection and intelligent optimization classifier. Firstly, in view of the redundancy and irrelevance of the influencing factors of coal and gas outburst, we use Boruta feature selection method obtain the optimal feature subset from influencing factors of coal and gas outburst. Secondly, based on Apriori association rules mining method, the internal association relationship between coal and gas outburst influencing factors is mined, and the strong association rules existing in the influencing factors and samples that affect the classification of coal and gas outburst are extracted. Finally, svm is used to classify coal and gas outbursts based on the above obtained optimal feature subset and sample data, and Bayesian optimization algorithm is used to optimize the kernel parameters of svm, and the coal and gas outburst pattern recognition prediction model is established, which is compared with the existing coal and gas outbursts prediction model in literatures. Compared with the method of feature selection and association rules mining alone, the proposed model achieves the highest prediction accuracy of 93% when the feature dimension is 3, which is higher than that of Apriori association rules and Boruta feature selection, and the classification accuracy is significantly improved, However, the feature dimension decreased significantly; The results show that the proposed model is better than other prediction models, which further verifies the accuracy and applicability of the coupling prediction model, and has high stability and robustness.

A feature selection method based on mutual information and support vector machine (SVM) is proposed in order to eliminate redundant feature and improve classification accuracy. First, local correlation between features and overall correlation is calculated by mutual information. The correlation reflects the information inclusion relationship between features, so the features are evaluated and redundant features are eliminated with analyzing the correlation. Subsequently, the concept of mean impact value (MIV) is defined and the influence degree of input variables on output variables for SVM network based on MIV is calculated. The importance weights of the features described with MIV are sorted by descending order. Finally, the SVM classifier is used to implement feature selection according to the classification accuracy of feature combination which takes MIV order of feature as a reference. The simulation experiments are carried out with three standard data sets of UCI, and the results show that this method can not only effectively reduce the feature dimension and high classification accuracy, but also ensure good robustness.
