This article reports a study according to the tenets of empirical methodology in addressing research questions. The project tests the principles of using geographical vocabulary in Emily Dickinson’s verse. It focuses on the study of stylistic and semantic aspects of the usage of geographical vocabulary. The results demonstrate the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the usage of geographical vocabulary. Emily Dickinson’s poems are full of geographical names, which she uses with both positive and negative connotations. As we can see, the negative connotations prevail. The results point out how Emily Dickinson manipulates geographical names at all levels of the language. In addition, the findings indicate specific color gamma of Emily Dickinson’s poems. The use of colors is different for each geographical object; especially it applies to the names of countries, towns etc. Emily Dickinson associates every continent with its own unique color. These findings demonstrate the individual style of Emily Dickinson, which is distinctive among other poets.

As the most historically and culturally valuable city district in Nanning, Xingning Block has gradually formed its own unique color characteristics and architectural style in the slow process of urban historical development, showing the unique local customs and architectural features. However, restricted by the specific development conditions, many undesirable aspects can be found in the overall architectural landscape color of some nodes on the block, such as lack of systematic planning, poor material matching, messy building color, as well as various challenges of contemporary social development to the architectural environmental color on the block. The architectural environmental color of urban traditional blocks is an important part of the specific history, culture and spirit of the times of a city, which plays a vital role in the development and change of the city. Therefore, how to effectively and reasonably do a good job in sustainable urban planning and development is an issue that must attract the attention of competent authorities at all levels, scientific research institutions and planning practitioners.

ABSTRACT A new species of Ituglanis associated to the grasslands of the Pampa biome is described from the rio Uruguai basin, southern Brazil. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by the low number of ribs and by a unique color pattern composed of an outer layer with scattered round black blotches equivalent in size to the eye circumference over a reddish brown background on the lateral surface of the body. We provide the genetic sequences of the mitochondrial gene Cytochrome c Oxydase subunit I (COI) for three of the paratypes and discuss aspects about the recent discovery of the new species.

We studied the relationship between color afterimages and complementary colors. The hues of afterimages of 24 inducer hues, uniformly distributed over the rgb color circle, were measured by an iterative method of adjustment. The judgment of equality of hue of the afterimage and a synthesized patch was effectively judged at the moment immediately after the switch-off of the inducer, when the synthesized patch went through any number of iterative adjustments. The two patches—both phenomenally present, but only one optically presented—appeared to the left and right of a fixation mark that was fixated throughout the whole procedure. Thus, both patches were present in eccentric vision. The hues of afterimages were found to be quite different from the hue of the complementary of the inducer. Almost one half of the color circle (orange to chartreuse) leads to afterimage hues in a narrow region of purples. This implies that color circles based on diametrically opposed inducer–afterimage hues are necessarily inconsistent. Yet, perhaps surprisingly, the relation between primary and afterimage hues is still approximately an involution (they are reciprocally related).

Getih sambang leaves (Hemigraphis Colorata. Hall. F) are plants that have a distinctive and unique color, namely the upper surface of the leaf is green and the bottom of the leaf is burgundy where sambang leaves contain anthocyanin compounds. Anthocyanin is the color pigment in plants that forms the basis of the use of natural indicators. This study aims to prove whether getih cucumber leaves can be used as an acid-base indicator, to determine the type of acid-base titration that is suitable for indicators of getih cucumber leaves, and to find out what the pH-changing color route of getih cucumber leaves is. The method used is extraction, namely maceration. Wee leaves are macerated by using methanol as a solvent for 24 hours. The extract was previously tested using HCl solution and NaOH solution as a test to prove the presence of anthocyanin. The results obtained in this study, getih sambang leaf extract can be used as an indicator of acid base, and also the type of acid-base titration that is suitable for use in the indicator of getih leaf extract extract precisely on the titration of strong-base strong acid, and strong weak base-acid It is best used as a substitute for the phenolphthalein indicator. In titration of strong and weak acids and bases, it is good to be used as a substitute for the indicator of methyl orange. The pH range obtained from the getih sambang leaf extract is pH 4-7 (red-purple).
