In the last years, many analyses from acoustic signal processing have been used for different applications. In most cases, these sensor systems are based on the determination of times of flight for signals from every transducer. This paper presents a flat plate generalization method for impact detection and location over linear links or bars-based structures. The use of three piezoelectric sensors allow to achieve the position and impact time while the use of additional sensors lets cover a larger area of detection and avoid wrong timing difference measurements. An experimental setup and some experimental results are briefly presented.

An experimental setup for performance of reverse mirage spectroscopy at CO2 laser wavelengths on liquid samples having high values of absorption coefficients is described. One and the same liquid is used as both the absorbing and deflecting medium. The Rosencwaig-Gersho theory has been applied, and the choice of experimental conditions that would enable determination of absorption coefficient β from the magnitude of photothermal signals measured at two different probe beam distances (probing locations) is discussed. The usefulness of this technique (essentially not inhibited by the requirements imposed on the sample's thickness) is tested on methanol having absorption coefficients β close to 300 cm−1 in the wavelength region covered by CO2 laser emission.

Inspired in a recent theoretical work for the determination of the Mueller matrix, using as incidence a single classically entangled polarization state (F. Töppel et al., New J. Phys. 16 (2014) 073019), an experimental setup is proposed and tested.  The open space and two wave plate retarders are used as the transparent, nondepolarizing samples under study. Results show some experimental improvements are necessary in order to implement accurately the theoretical proposal in which this work is based.

This paper presents a very detailed description of a new cylindrical constant volume combustion chamber designed for laminar burning velocity determination of gaseous mixtures at ambient temperature and initial pressure up to 6 bar. The experimental setup, the experimental procedure and the determination of the range of flame radius for laminar burning determination are all described in details. The laminar burning velocity of twelve synthetic biogas mixtures has been studied. Initial pressure varying between 1 and 5 bar, equivalence ratios, f, between 0.7 and 1.1 and percentage dilution, with a mixture of CO2 and N2, between 35 and 55% have been considered. Five experiments were run for each mixture providing a maximum percentage standard deviation of 8.11%. However, for two third of the mixtures this value is lower than 3.55%. A comparison with simulation using PREMIX for both GRI-Mech 3.0 and San Diego mechanisms has provided closer agreement for mixtures with equivalence ratio closer to stoichiometry whereas for f = 0.7 the deviation is larger than 15% for all pressures. Mixtures with lower equivalence ratio, higher dilution percentage and higher initial pressure presents the lower values of laminar burning velocity.

This paper presents the experimental determination of the moment of inertia of USM e-UAV by using pendulum method. Compound pendulum experiment is used to determine the moment of inertia about x and y axes while the moment of inertia about z-axis is determined using bifilar torsion pendulum method. An experimental setup is developed with appropriate dimension to accommodate USM e-UAV. Experimental data are presented and discussed.

Abstract. The implementation of electrical drive trains in modern vehicles is a new challenge for EMC development. This contribution depicts a variety of investigations on magnetic field coupling of automotive high-voltage (HV) systems in order to fulfil the requirements of an EMR-optimized designing. The theoretical background is discussed within the scope of current analysis, including the determination of current paths and spectral behaviour. It furthermore presents models of shielded HV cables with particular focus on the magnetic shielding efficiency. Derived findings are validated by experimental measurements of a state-of-the-art demonstrator on system level. Finally EMC design rules are discussed in the context of minimized magnetic fields.
