Developing and Simulation Research of the Control Model and Control Strategy of Static Frequency Converter

Chapter 9 is devoted to simulation research showing the influence of changes of the power train’s parameters and control strategy on the vehicle’s energy consumption, depending on different driving conditions. The control strategy role is to manage how much energy, frankly speaking, how much of the torque-speed relations referring to the power alteration, are flowing to or from each component. In this way, the components of the hybrid power train have to be integrated with a control strategy, and of course, with its energetic parameters to achieve the optimal design for a given set of constraints. The hybrid power train is very complex and non-linear to its every component. One effective method of system optimization is numerical computation, the simulation, as in the case of the multivalent suboptimal procedure regarding the number of electrical mechanical drive’s elements, whose simultaneous operation is connected with the proper energy flow control. The minimization of a power train’s internal losses is the target. The quality factor is minimal energy, as well as minimal fuel and electricity consumption. The fuel consumption by the hybrid power train has to be considered in relation to the conventional propelled vehicle. First of all, the commonly chosen statistic driving cycles should be taken into consideration. Unfortunately, this is not enough. The additional tests as for the vehicle’s climbing, acceleration, and power train behavior, referring to real driving situations, are strongly recommended during the drive design process.

Setting up an exclusive left-turn lane and corresponding signal phase for intersection traffic safety and efficiency will decrease the capacity of the intersection when there are less or no left-turn movements. This is especially true during rush hours because of the ineffective use of left-turn lane space and signal phase duration. With the advantages of vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, a novel intersection signal control model is proposed which sets up variable lane direction arrow marking and turns the left-turn lane into a controllable shared lane for left-turn and through movements. The new intersection signal control model and its control strategy are presented and simulated using field data. After comparison with two other intersection control models and control strategies, the new model is validated to improve the intersection capacity in rush hours. Besides, variable lane lines and the corresponding control method are designed and combined with the left-turn waiting area to overcome the shortcomings of the proposed intersection signal control model and control strategy.

The nuclear power crane is required to have high security and stability, as its lifting mechanism and span structure are needed to perform predominantly in serious working conditions. A new vibration analysis and control method on the nuclear power crane is proposed to improve its stability, which is based on magneto rheological fluid damper (MRFD) and switch algorithm control strategy. The simulation is completed through dynamic model and control model. The experiment is accomplished in a serving crane. Both numerical simulated and experimental results show that the vibration of nuclear power crane is suppressed significantly with MRFD. It is proved that MRFD should be taken into consideration in the vibration control of nuclear power crane.

Inventory control strategy of spare parts is an effective way to improve equipment support efficiency and scientific and reasonable inventory policy can make spare parts availability reach the upper limit. Multi-echelon integrated inventory control strategy of equipment spare parts is studied. Three-level integrated inventory control model consisting of rear warehouse, equipment using units and spare parts supplier is established according to the architecture and control program of multi-echelon joint inventory. The algorithm of solving the proposed model is analyzed and a numerical example is provided. The proposed equipment spare parts inventory model can improve inventory quality to a certain degree and decrease the contradictions between inventory and maintenance. The correctness and effectiveness of the proposed model are verified by the example, which provides an effective model for equipment spare parts inventory.

The aim of the paper is to research possibility to use a "hexagon" scheme static frequency converter as controlled intersystem link for two parallel operating power systems with different operating frequencies, or standards for frequency stabilization. The paper aims to study the transformer device operating characteristics that implements the output voltage phase circular rotation principle relative to the input voltage and controlled by power electronics. This goal is achieved through the elaborated "rough" device control strategy, which made it possible to provide controlled AC intersystem link of asynchronous power systems without the use of additional harmonic filters and dampers. Two sectioning modes of adjusting windings were used to apply 24 and 48 position laws of the converter "fine" control. The most significant results are the new technical solution of the frequency converter, as well as the "rough" control strategy. To assess the conversion quality, indicators were used that characterize the degree of stability of the transmitted power and the harmonic distortion of the current. The computational experiments results have shown the effectiveness of the proposed "rough" control strategy. It is proved that 48-position sectioning of the "fine" regulation winding can significantly improve the quality of conversion compare to 24-position. The obtained results significance is that developed technical solution provides acceptable indicators of the frequency conversion quality and transmitted active power stability. In addition, the use of the proposed converter technical solution can significantly reduce the number of windings and control means compare to previously ones studied by the authors

Normal practice in continuous digester operation is to set the production rate through the chip meter speed. This speed is seldom, if ever, adjusted except to change production, and most of the other digester inputs are ratioed to it. The inherent assumption is that constant chip meter speed equates to constant dry mass flow of chips. This is seldom, if ever, true. As a result, the actual production rate, effective alkali (EA)-to-wood and liquor-to-wood ratios may vary substantially from assumed values. This increases process variability and decreases profits. In this report, a new continuous digester production rate control strategy is developed that addresses this shortcoming. A new noncontacting near infrared–based chip moisture sensor is combined with the existing weightometer signal to estimate the actual dry chip mass feedrate entering the digester. The estimated feedrate is then used to implement a novel feedback control strategy that adjusts the chip meter speed to maintain the dry chip feedrate at the target value. The report details the results of applying the new measurements and control strategy to a dual vessel continuous digester.
