The article deals with the theology, composition and literary form of the narrations which constitute the prologue part of the book of Genesis (1, 1-11, 26). During the second half of the 19th and at the turn of the 20th cent., following the emergence of the Documentary hypothesis as well as the comparison of the Holy Scripture with the newly-discovered literary monuments of Ancient Near East, the greater part of the narrations that constitute the Prologue were labeled myths and ancient Hebrew folklore (J. Wellhausen, H. Gunkel, J. Frazer). In addition to the then detected Near Eastern parallels, this new attitude towards the narrations of the Prologue was fostered by its lack of a clearly expressed historical dedication and the symbolic form of their exposition. Defending the traditional view of the Prologue as sacred history and prophetic revelation, bishop Kassian (Bezobrazov) proposed to consider all the biblical narrations that contain theophanies as metahistorical. Archpriest Sergey Bulgakov, A. F. Losev and B. P. Vysheslavtsev, who analyzed the phenomenon of myth-making, called the Biblical narration of the origins of the world a myth, but in a sense different from that proposed by Gunkel and Frazer. They have founded a new and positive conception according to which a myth is not fi but rather a kind of reality based upon mystical experience. The author of the article analyzes each of the terms enumerated - «history», «myth», «metahistory» - in their use relating them to the Prologue; he also examines the possibility of their harmonizing with the traditional ecclesiastical view of this part of the book of Genesis.

This study aims to describe symbolic form of sign used to describe the emotions of Pasutri Gaje comic characters. Theoretically, this study discusses tropes symbols as additional elements whose existence has a major influence on conveying the emotions of the characters to the readers. This is a descriptive qualitative study. Apply the theory of semiotics proposed by Ferdinand de Saussure about dichotomy signifie dan significant and Pierce about triadic feature of sign.  Datas sourced from picture of online comic Pasutri Gaje season 1 until episode 13 season 3. Datas is collected by observing method with recording and note-taking technique. Data were analysed by extralingual equivalent methods and comparative relational techniques. Data presented used formal and informal method.             There seven kind of emotions symbol called tropes symbol used in comic. There were cross popin for angry sign, sweat drops to clumsy sign, drool to show feeling tempted, chibi to show childish side, dog ear/tail to express innocence in expecting something, blush to express feeling embarrassed, and shadow over face to show extreme anger. Tropes symbols fulfills the element of signification in accordance with the concept proposed by Pierce hence it can convey the emotional situation of character to the readers.

Compromising Positions argues that sex scandals aren’t really about sex. Rather, they are a form of cultural theater—a moment of highly visible, public storytelling—the purpose of which is to use specific racial and gendered symbols to create a collective sense of national worth and strength. To arrive at this conclusion, the book charts the ways in which attitudes about gender, race, and religion are woven together to create a certain sort of rhetoric about what America is, who is eligible to formally represent it, and what types of religiosity such leaders must display in order to legitimize their power. The book shows that Americans simultaneously condemn and excuse the sexual indiscretions of their politicians depending on the degree to which those politicians reinforce longstanding, evangelical symbols—many of which are heavily raced and gendered—that are associated with “American values” and a “Christian nation.” Such values include not just moral fortitude but also strength, courage, and conquest. The upshot is that sex scandals are less likely to occur at cultural moments when the public is open to reading a politician’s moral lapse as a symbolic form of national dominance. Put simply, when he is perceived as strong, domineering, and necessary for national health, many people will find ways to either forget his illicit sex or somehow read it as an American act.

AbstractMicrovascular blood flow is crucial for tissue and organ function and is often severely affected by diseases. Therefore, investigating the microvasculature under different pathological circumstances is essential to understand the role of the microcirculation in health and sickness. Microvascular blood flow is generally investigated with Intravital Video Microscopy (IVM), and the captured images are stored on a computer for later off-line analysis. The analysis of these images is a manual and challenging process, evaluating experiments very time consuming and susceptible to human error. Since more advanced digital cameras are used in IVM, the experimental data volume will also increase significantly. This study presents a new two-step image processing algorithm that uses a trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to functionally analyze IVM microscopic images without the need for manual analysis. While the first step uses a modified vessel segmentation algorithm to extract the location of vessel-like structures, the second step uses a 3D-CNN to assess whether the vessel-like structures have blood flowing in it or not. We demonstrate that our two-step algorithm can efficiently analyze IVM image data with high accuracy (83%). To our knowledge, this is the first application of machine learning for the functional analysis of microvascular blood flow in vivo.

A codesign methodology is proposed which is suitable for control-dominated systems but can also be extended to more complex ones. Its main purpose is to optimize the trade-off between hardware performance and software reprogrammability and reconfigurability. The methodology proposed intends to cover the development of the whole system. It deals in greater detail with the steps that can be made without the need for any particular assumption regarding the target architecture. These steps concern splitting up the specification of the system into a set of individually synthesizable elements, and then grouping them for the subsequent mapping stage. In order to decrease the complexity of each partitioning attempt, a two step algorithm is proposed, thus permitting a wide exploration of possible solutions. The methodology is based on the TTL language, an extension of the T-LOTOS Formal Description Technique which provides a large amount of operators as well as a formal basis. Finally, an example pointing out the complete design cycle, excepting the allocation stage is provided.
