With the rapid urbanization in recent decades, resource shortage and environmental damage have hindered the process of urban sustainable development (SD). As a yardstick of sustainable development, the evaluation of resources and environment carrying capacity (RECC) and its decoupling relationship with social comprehensive development index (SCDI) are of great significance. In this paper, RECC and SCDI are taken as research objects to establish resource and environment system evaluation index system and social comprehensive development level evaluation index system, respectively. Then, the RECC and SCDI of 17 cities in Hubei province during 2009–2018 are calculated by the projection pursuit model based on genetic algorithm, and their spatial-temporal variance characteristics are analyzed. On this basis, the RECC-SCDI Tapio decoupling model is constructed to explore the decoupling relationship between RECC and SCDI. The result shows that: (1) The RECC of Hubei shows a V-shaped development trend during 2009–2018. The SCDI of Hubei rose steadily during 2009–2018. (2) RECC in western and eastern Hubei Province is higher than that in central Hubei Province. SCDI in eastern and central Hubei Province is higher than that in the west. (3) 11 of the 17 cities in Hubei Province have got rid of excessive dependence on resources environment for social development. The study could contribute to scientific and effective policies be formulated by government to promote urban sustainable development.

Brownfield is post-industrial soil resulting from different anthropogenic activities and located in urban centers of cities. Due to the scarcity of urban land and the complexity of renovating old cities, and considering that brownfield research in Pakistan is still in its infancy, defining and evaluating brownfield is necessary for solving environmental issues and promoting sustainable development. Therefore, this study aims to develop a pioneer consensus-based brownfield definition, guidelines, and an evaluation index system to evaluate brownfield redevelopment in Pakistan. Initially, a comprehensive literature review was performed to gather key elements of brownfield definitions and create an evaluation index system. These indicators were further evaluated by different experts through the Delphi Method to develop a final questionnaire. Then, data were collected from relevant stakeholders. An illustrative example using three ideal schemes (housing society, eco-industrial park, and commercial market) is described to apply the evaluation index system. A new methodology combining Triangular Fuzzy Numbers (TFNs) and Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) was introduced to assess three ideal schemes. Finally, a pioneer brownfield definition, guidelines, and evaluation index system for brownfield redevelopment were developed, and a further index system was verified through an illustrative example. The standard brownfield definition, guidelines, and established index system is based on the Pakistani context. Due to changes in rules and regulation, and different land characteristics, these findings cannot be generalized to all developing countries. Therefore, further studies must validate the results in their own context. This study will foster brownfield redevelopment implementation in Pakistan and promote sustainable development.

The implemented performance of enterprise’s patent strategy is an important component to measure its comprehensive benefits. It is of strategic significance for an enterprise to evaluate objectively its implemented performance of patent strategy. From the perspective of sustainable development, according to the 4 aspects of creation, application, protection and management of patent, the essay constitutes preliminarily a comprehensive evaluation index system of the implemented performance of enterprise’s patent strategy which is composed of a set of 21 indexes on the basis of an amount of domestic and foreign literature survey, case study and expert consultation, and analyzes the evaluation model and method of implemented performance of enterprise’s patent strategy with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and through a real case. The essay thinks the constitution of evaluation index system should obey a series of basic principles of objectivity, systematization, science and conciseness and the evaluation in essence is multi-object, multi-factor and multi-layer. Therefore, it is effective and feasible to select the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation method.

Since the evaluation index system of sustainable development for farmland shelterbelt is a compound system with network and multi-index, it is difficult to evaluate effectively by common methods. In this paper, a set of evaluation index system of sustainable development for farmland shelterbelt network based on ANP method is established, and the evaluation index system is quantified with SD software. The method can improve the evaluating system of previous studies on the sustainable development of farmland shelterbelt, and make the evaluation results have more directive significance for farmland shelterbelt management.

Urban sustainable development is a compound system (consisted of urban economy, social background, natural environment and urban civilization) whose core lays on the minimalization of environment pollution and the cost of natural resources without impairing urban economy and life quality. It aims to achieve a harmonious development between society, economy, environment and resource, and to keep a virtuous ecological cycle as well. Based on this theory, this paper divided the urban sustainable development system into four sub-systems, namely, economy, society, nature and civilization, with a corresponding evaluation index system set. Further, by applying entropy evaluation method, the actual level of Tianjin sustainable development was evaluated. According to research result, though fast sustainable development has been achieved, Tianjin still has the tendency to slow down, so positive measures should be taken to incent a harmonious and swift development of each sub-systems and to maintain a stable and consistent development of Tianjin.

From the view of sustainable development, the evaluation model of the real estate industry development was constructed based on literature research. 20 initial indexes were chosen as evaluation indexes of the of real estate industry development. The indicator data of 32 provinces in China was collected and processed. Through EFA and CFA of the model, the 3-dimension evaluation index system with 10 indexes was formed with good reliability and validity. Finally, the relevant management strategy was proposed. The evaluation index system has important application value to evaluate and monitor the sustainable development of the real estate industry.

On the one hand, resource-based cities have played a great role to the economic growth of our country. On the other hand, they have also caused great destruction to China's economic development. The sustainable development evaluation of resource-based cities is a new topic, and its theory and method system remain to be discussed. Taking Pingdingshan City , Henan Province as an example, this paper discusses the evaluation method of sustainable development of resource-based cities. Combining the methods of scientific and practical, typical and comparable, dynamic and operable, comprehensive and hierarchical, taking AHP comprehensive evaluation as the foundation, from resource support ability, environment support ability, social support ability, and economic support ability, this evaluation method choose 47 index to evaluate the sustainable development of resource-based cities. The comprehensive evaluation index system of this paper strives to comprehensive reflect the process of sustainable development of resource-based cities, and hopes to provide some reference for policy making for the sustainable development of resource-based cities.
