In cases of suspected arson, a body may be intentionally burnt to cause loss of life, dispose of remains, or conceal identification. A primary focus of a fire investigation, particularly involving human remains, is to establish the cause of the fire; this often includes the forensic analysis of fire debris for the detection of ignitable liquid residues (ILRs). Commercial containers for the collection of fire debris evidence include metal cans, glass jars, and polymer/nylon bags of limited size. This presents a complication in cases where the fire debris consists of an intact, or partially intact, human cadaver. This study proposed the use of a body bag as an alternative sampling container. A method was developed and tested for the collection and analysis of ILRs from burnt porcine remains contained within a body bag using dynamic headspace sampling (using an Easy-VOC™ hand-held manually operated grab-sampler and stainless steel sorbent tubes containing Tenax TA) followed by thermal desorption comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TD-GC×GC-TOFMS). The results demonstrated that a body bag containing remains burnt with gasoline tested positive for the presence of gasoline, while blank body bag controls and a body bag containing remains burnt without gasoline tested negative. The proposed method permits the collection of headspace samples from burnt remains before the remains are removed from the crime scene, limiting the potential for contamination and the loss of volatiles during transit and storage.

Introdution: Vitality of periodontal ligament (PDL) cells is very critical for replantation of complete avulsion teeth due to traumatic injuries. This is important for transferring an avulsed tooth to clinic for replantation that which Medias used for storage. This study aimed to compare the vitality of PDL cells of sheep teeth cultured in different storage medias including α-Minimum Essential Medium (αMEM), Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium (DMEM), Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS), and mint extract Methods: In this lab trial study, PDL cells were obtained from 124 healthy anterior and posterior sheep teeth and cultured in αMEM, DMEM, HBSS, and mint extract for periods of  2, 6, 24, 48, 72, or 96 hours (24 groups). For each solution, positive control group were PDL cells without incubation in any storage media. For each group, there was a negative control considered cells growing in dry plate with no medium. After exposure of PDL cells to scheduled solution for scheduled incubation time, centrifuge was performed for 10 minutes at rate of 2000G. Then cell percipitates were added into the solution of collagenase (3mgr/ml) and Dispase (4mgr/ml to cell precipitates, which were incubated at 37° C for 60 minutes. After washing cellular suspension in PBS, vitality of the cells was assessed by Trypan blue exclusion, on a neobar slide by magnification of 200X. The data were analyzed statistically using 2-way ANOVA test by SPSS version 15. Results: Statistically significant differences in efficacy of different medias were obtained at least between two media (P=0.0001). PDL cells cultured in αMEM and mint extract showed 90% and 52.22% vitality representing, respectively, the best and the weakest storage media. Conclusion: αMEM can be a suitable transport medium up to 96 hours to preserve the vitality of the PDL cells of avulsed teeth. There is a reverse correlation between the viability of PDL cells and incubation time, increasing the time decreases the viability.

JCAMP-DX has, for several years, been the standard form for the exchange of infrared spectral data. More recently JCAMP-DX protocols have been published for chemical structure data and for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. This publication presents a new JCAMP-DX data exchange protocol for mass spectrometry, covering the transport of single spectra, spectral series, and raw data files. The protocol can be implemented on any computer system and storage media. It is completely manufacturer independent. As with previous publications in this series, the aim is to provide reliable data transfer without loss of information regardless of the hardware or software involved. A comparison to the work on a binary protocol currently being carried out by the Analytical Instrument Association is also presented.

With the pervasive usage of sensing systems and IoT things, the importance of security has increased. Attempts towards breaching IoT security systems by attackers are on upsurge. Many intrusions in embedded systems, sensing equipment and IoT things have occurred in the past. Though there are cyber security tools like Antivirus, Intrusion detection and prevention systems available for securing the digital devices and its networks. However, a forensic methodology to be followed for the analysis and investigation to detect origin cause of network incidents is lacking. This paper derives a comprehensive preventive cyber forensic process model with honeypots for the digital IoT investigation process which is formal, that can assist in the court of law in defining the reliability of the investigative process. One year data of various attacks to the IoT network has been recorded by the honeypots for this study. The newly derived model HIM has been validated using various methods and instead of converging on a particular aspect of investigation, it details the entire lifecycle of IoT forensic investigation. The model is targeted to address the forensic analysts’ requirements and the need of legal fraternity for a forensic model. The process model follows a preventive method which reduce further attacks on network.

This study aims to examine the influence of the media and the storage period on the viability of clove seeds. The study was conducted at the Ambon Plant Crops Protection and Protection Center laboratory. The study used a factorial completely randomized design with two types of factors and three replications. The storage media consists of 3 levels, namely: Without the storage media, the media for storing rice husk and the media for storing sawdust. The second factor is the storage period consists of 4 levels, namely: 10 days storage, 20 days storage, 30 days storage and 40 days storage. The parameters measured were germination power, germination rate, and vigor index. Storage media and storage period significantly affected germination and vigor indexes but did not significantly affect germination rates. The results showed that the sawdust storage media was a good medium for storing clove seeds (Syzygium aromaticum L.). This can be seen in the results of the average germination of clove seeds stored in powder storage media with a storage time of 10 days giving better results of 85% compared to rice husks at a storage time of 10 days with a germination percentage of 65%.  Keywords: clove seeds, save media, save period   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh media dan periode simpan terhadap viabilitas benih cengkeh. Digital forensics is a field that concerned with finding and presenting evidence sourced from digital devices, such as computers and mobile phones. Most of the forensic analysis software is proprietary, and eventually, specialized analysis software is developed in both the private and public sectors. This paper presents an alternative of forensic analysis tools for digital forensics, which specifically to analyze evidence through keyword indexing and searching. Keyword Indexing and Searching Tool (KIST) is proposed to analyze evidence of interest from WhatsApp chat text files using keyword searching techniques and based on incident types. The tool was developed by adopting the Prototyping model as its methodology. KIST includes modules such as add, edit, remove, display the indexed files, and to add WhatsApp chat text files. Subsequently, the tool is tested using functionality testing and user testing. Functionality testing shows all key functions are working as intended, while users testing indicates the majority of respondents are agree that the tool is able to index and search keyword and display forensic analysis results.
