In order to resolve the corrosion resistance of the Mg-Sr-Al-Y alloy, the micro arc oxidation technology were utilized to fabricated the oxidation coating in this paper. The potassium sodium tartrate (C4O6H4KNa) solution was introduced into the electrolyte solution for improving the coating properties. The effect of the C4O6H4KNa content on the phase composition, surface morphology and potentiodynamic polarization behavior was investigated. Compared with the Mg-Sr-Al-Y matrix alloy, the specimen with sodium citrate had high relatively positive potential and low corrosion current , so it proved that the introduce of the doped C4O6H4KNa would improved the corrosion resistance properties. Key words: Micro arc oxidation, Potassium sodium tartrate (C4O6H4KNa), Polarization behavior, Corrosion resistance properties.

Through semidry process, the wood fiber as reinforced materials and the industrial flue gas desulfurization waste calcinated calcium sulfate hemihydrate as an inorganic adhesive produced the environmental gypsum fiber board. This process is effective on utilization of desulfurization gypsum, which reduced the pollution of the environment and the demand of the natural gypsum, further to protect the natural environment. As green building decoration materials, gypsum fiber board has good prospects for development. The research results show that it is remarkable that the amount of the composite retarder is effective on the static bending strength, internal bond strength, grip screws to impact; the ratio of the wood and plaster is effective on the absorbent thickness expansion rate.

Modeling of the kinetics of the synthesis process for calcium sulfate α-hemihydrate from gypsum formed by flue gas desulfurization (FGD) is important to produce high-performance products with minimal costs and production cycles under hydrothermal conditions. In this study, a model was established by horizontally translating the obtained crystal size distribution (CSD) to the CSD of the stable phase during the transformation process. A simple method was used to obtain the nucleation and growth rates. A nonlinear optimization algorithm method was employed to determine the kinetic parameters. The model can be successfully used to analyze the transformation kinetics of FGD gypsum to α-hemihydrate in an isothermal batch crystallizer. The results showed that the transformation temperature and stirring speed exhibit a significant influence on the crystal growth and nucleation rates of α-hemihydrate, thus altering the transformation time and CSD of the final products. The characteristics obtained by the proposed model can potentially be used in the production of α-hemihydrate.

The goal of studying corrosion process is to find means of minimizing corrosion or prevent it from occurring. The use of inhibitors is one of the most popular methods for corrosion protection. A protective film has been formed on the surface of the mild steel in a neutral aqueous environment using a synergistic mixture of an eco-friendly inhibitor viz., Potassium Sodium Tartrate (SPT) along with polyacrylic acid (PAA) and Zn2+ ions. The inhibiting effect of SPT, PAA and Zn2+ ions have been investigated by gravimetric studies, Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The investigations revealed that SPT acts as an excellent synergist in corrosion inhibition. Optimum concentrations of all the three components of the ternary formulation are established by gravimetric studies. Potentiodynamic polarization studies inferred that this mixture functions as a cathodic inhibitor. EIS studies of the metal/solution interface indicated that the surface film is highly protective against the corrosion of mild steel. Surface characterization techniques (FTIR, SEM, AFM) are also used to ascertain the nature of the protective film. The mechanical aspect of corrosion inhibition is proposed.
