The purpose of this paper is to review decision support system application trend in manufacturing sector. Following the introduction of decision support system, the paper has discussed the application of decision support system in manufacturing sector and identifies the trend in term of decision support system types and their application types. In year 2011 until 2015, the most preferred decision support system were developed by using the model application. It also been found that, most of the developed decision support system are used to support evaluation activities in manufacturing operations. This review provides research trend on decision support system for the recent five years (2011 -2015) in the context of decision support system application in manufacturing industry.

This paper describes the development of decision support system application to assist students who want to enter college so that no one choose the majors incorrectly. This application uses fuzzy logic method because fuzzy logic is very flexible in data which are vague and can be represented as a linguistic variable. The purpose of this application is to assist students to choose available majors at University Multimedia Nusantara which are appropriate with his/her capabilities. This application accepts five kinds of input values i.e. Mathematics, Indonesian, English, Physics, and TIK. Received input will be processed by the calculation of the system for decision-making and the application will generate output that shows how great a match for each majors. With this application, prospective students can find out where the majors that match his/her capabilities. This application has ninety nine percentage of match result accuracy. Index Terms—fuzzy logic, decision support system, UMN, selection of major

This study is to determine whether the characteristics of coffee flavor can be implemented into a decision support system. In this study, the problem is the difficulty in finding coffee experts with adequate understanding and knowledge of coffee. The purpose is to implement Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine the characteristics of coffee flavor and to transfer the knowledge about the taste of coffee to coffee lovers. The expected results are to assist in making a decision support system application in selecting the characteristics of coffee, so that it can provide the advice to the common consumers who want to enjoy and the knowledge about the coffee itself as well.

In this chapter attention is focused on the container terminal optimization problem, given that today most international cargo is transported through seaports and on containerized vessels. In this context, in order to manage a container terminal it is sometimes necessary to develop a Decision Support System (DSS). This chapter investigated the prediction reliability of container terminal simulation models (DSS), through a before and after analysis, taking advantage of some significant investment made by the Salerno Container Terminal (Italy) between 2003 and 2008. In particular, disaggregate and an aggregate simulation models implemented in 2003 were validated with a large set of data acquired in 2008 after some structural and functional terminal modifications. Through this analysis it was possible to study both the mathematical details required for model application and the field of application (prediction reliability) of the different simulation approaches implemented.

Industry 4.0 is an integration between automation and manufacturing industry which requires the use of information technology to implement it. In the operational management framework, there is a supply chain management function that is strongly influenced by quality suppliers. Because choosing a quality new supplier is not an easy thing, we need a reliable application tool and utilizing web-based artificial intelligence technology for the selection of suppliers in the manufacturing industry. The selection of new suppliers is a complex problem because it involves multiple criteria, therefore it is necessary to make a decision support system that is able to complete supplier selection properly. Although the selection of suppliers in the manufacturing industry is not new, in the era of Industry 4.0, a decision support system that is used to choose an absolute supplier based online that must be accessible via the web or mobile application. Therefore the writer's idea in this paper is very relevant to be implemented in the manufacturing industry in all fields in the industrial era 4.0.

The selection process for Student Language Ambassadors at the North Sumatra Language Hall is still subjective in that the assessment may not be based on established criteria or without looking objectively so the selection process is less precise and the resulting decisions are less satisfactory for the students' Language Ambassador participants.  In this study, the authors used a decision support system with the Exprom II method to find the value of weights and criteria, and to find the final grade or to find the value of the Student Language Ambassador ranking. Thus the Decision Support System is needed so that it can help the North Sumatra Language Office in determining Student Language Ambassadors. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to build a decision support system application for selecting Student Language Ambassadors using the Exprom II method so that it can help and facilitate the North Sumatra Language Hall in making decisions choosing Student Language Ambassadors and the decisions determined are satisfactoryKeywords: Decision Support System, Student Language Ambassador, Exprom Method II
