This paper presents a hybrid dynamic vibration absorber (HDVA) that is able to assign tunable zeros and poles to a closed-loop primary system. A detailed procedure is presented to design the HDVA and match closed-loop response of a primary system to a prototype transfer function, subject to a modest constraint that the prototype is minimum-phase with relative degree 2.
