Abstract In this work, the authors present a robust and integrated procedure for the design of multi-stage gear pumps to be used in dry sump system applications. Based on the target delivery flow rate, rotational speed and fluid properties, the developed iterative method enables to directly obtain the geometrical features and the working parameters of the pump components, such as gearpair specifics, shaft and journal bearing dimensions, clearance values. The methodology is then applied to a case study in order to highlight its features and detail the achievable outcomes. Quality of the results is assessed by means of a CFD analysis, demonstrating the capability to obtain the expected volumetric efficiency.

Amelogenesis Imperfecta (henceforth: AI) is a term used to determine congenital qualitative and quantitative enamel defects, concerning both deciduous and permanent dentition. Classification of AI is based on the phenotype of lesions and is included in numerous types of classifications, among which the Witkop classification is the most popular. Apart from enamel abnormalities, patients afflicted with AI may also have other disorders, e.g. congenital deficiencies of tooth buds, pulp calcification, root and crown resorption, open bite. Aesthetic defects of dentition, pain reported when consuming acidic and hot foods, difficulties in obtaining satisfactory hygiene - all these significantly affect the quality of life of patients with AI. Care provided to these patients is highly specialised and starts as early as in early childhood. Aim. The aim of the study was to describe familial clustering, types, symptoms and treatment of Amelogenesis Imperfecta in members of two families treated at the Department of Orthodontics at the Medical University of Warsaw. Material and methods. The material comprised two unrelated families with clinically manifested symptoms of AI, treated at the Department of Orthodontics at the Medical University of Warsaw. A detailed interview, clinical examination and analysis of radiological documentation were conducted in each family. Results. All patients in the study were suffering from hypoplastic AI, their hygiene was satisfactory, four in five patients had an open bite. Reported symptoms did not differ from those most commonly described in the literature, and included discomfort while eating acidic and hot food, and excessive enamel abrasion. Conclusions. Treatment of patients with AI is multi-stage, multidisciplinary, and aims to restore proper functions of the dentition, as well as to obtain a correct occlusion, skeletal relationships, and to reduce hypersensitivity to thermal and chemical stimuli. Preventive measures are important, and should be introduced early, during the stage of the deciduous dentition, and be related to hygiene briefing and monitoring. Thanks to their manufacturing simplicity, robustness, and consolidated design knowledge, external gear pumps are widely adopted in the automotive fields. With the purpose of leading the design procedure of these positive displacement machines, within this work, the authors integrate in a comprehensive tool the salient equations adopted for the design of the major gear pump features. The presented procedure is devoted to the design of multistage external gear pumps characterized by a singular floating driving shaft supported by fluid-dynamic journal bearings. Focusing the attention on the procedure flexibility, it has been structured in three iterative calculation phases. The core section of the methodology concerns the geometrical design of the involute gear tooth profile. It is oriented to ensure a proper volumetric displacement while complying with the space requirement and the tooth manufacturing limitations. Thus, through the analytical pressure loads estimation combined with the operational parameters, the second calculation step provides the design of the driving shaft and the relevant dimensions of the journal bearings. Finally, by means of a power loss approach, the third macrosection of the procedure leads to estimating the clearances between gear tip and housing. The potentials of the methodology are exposed by describing its applications to a case study of multistage gear pump employed in the dry sump lubrication system of an automotive heavy-duty engine. Each calculation step application is outlined with reference to the proposed analytical formulation and the results of the parameters calibration are presented. Within this context, the procedure is assessed by means of a CFD analysis. The results highlight the accuracy of the methodology on the estimation of the required delivery flow rate. Aside from being accurate, flexible, and reliable, the procedure stands out for being an innovative tool within the multistage gear pump framework.

In the context of food packaging design, customization enhances the value of a product by meeting consumer needs. Personalization is also linked to adaptation, so the properties of the packaging can be improved from several points of view: functional, aesthetic, economic and ecological. Currently, functional and formal properties of packaging are not investigated in depth. However, the study of both properties is the basis for creating a new concept of personalized and sustainable product. In accordance with this approach, a conceptual design procedure of packaging with personalized and adapted geometries based on the digitization of fresh food is proposed in this work. This study is based on the application of advanced technologies for the design and development of food packaging, apples in this work, in order to improve the quality of the packaging. The results obtained show that it is possible to use advanced technologies in the early stages of product design in order to obtain competitive products adapted to new emerging needs.

The flexible aircraft panel parts are easy to deform during the assembly process, the deformation can directly affect the assembly accuracy of the aircraft panel, and further affect the assembly quality of the aircraft fuselage. In order to evaluate the assembly accuracy of the aircraft panel in multi-stage assembly process with N-2-1 locating scheme, this paper proposes an assembly variation analyzing approach, considering the effect of the contact force between the panel skin and the fixture components on the deformation of the panel in the assembly process. The mathematical models are established to conclude the contact force between the panel skin and the fixture components in multi-stage assembly process of the panel with N-2-1 locating scheme, and the effect of the contact force between the skin and the fixture components on the deformation of the panel in assembly is investigated. An assembly variation model is built for the aircraft panel considering the variation sources including the manufacturing error of the flexible panel parts, fixture error, and the deformation of the panel in multi-stage assembly process considering the effect of the contact force. Finally, the proposed assembly variation analyzing approach for the aircraft panel is tested with a case study.

Purpose Misophonia is a sound tolerance disorder condition in certain sounds that trigger intense emotional or physiological responses. While some persons may experience misophonia, a few patients suffer from misophonia. However, there is a dearth of literature on audiological assessment and management of persons with misophonia. The purpose of this report is to discuss the assessment of misophonia and highlight the management option that helped a patient with misophonia. Method A case study of a 26-year-old woman with the complaint of decreased tolerance to specific sounds affecting quality of life is reported. Audiological assessment differentiated misophonia from hyperacusis. Management included retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy based on the principles described by P. J. Jastreboff and Jastreboff (2014). A misophonia questionnaire was administered at regular intervals to monitor the effectiveness of therapy. Results A detailed case history and audiological evaluations including pure-tone audiogram and Johnson Hyperacusis Index revealed the presence of misophonia. The patient benefitted from intervention, and the scores of the misophonia questionnaire indicated a decrease in the severity of the problem. Conclusions It is important to differentially diagnose misophonia and hyperacusis in persons with sound tolerance disorders. Retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy can help patients who suffer from misophonia.

This paper presents a successful behavioral case study in treatment of chronic refractory cough in a 60-year-old adult female. The efficacy for speech-language pathology treating chronic cough is discussed along with description of treatment regime. Discussion focuses on therapy approaches used and the patient's report of changes in quality of life and frequency, duration, and severity reduction of her cough after treatment.

So far, in implementing school strategies, they tend not to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT), despite the availability of ICT resources available. Stages of strategic management are needed to generate the vision, mission, objectives, policy, program, budget, and procedures as well as control and evaluation process as an effort to utilize ICT to improve school quality. Based on the interpretation and the results of the study, it is concluded that schools have organized stages in strategic management that enable schools to have a quality profile. The impact of effective utilization of ICTs for schools is the achievement of effective school management, as per the National Education Standards, which is characterized by effective planning, implementation, control, and evaluation of school ICTs.The purpose of this study is to get a general description, describe, and reveal the Strategic Management of Information and Communication Technology Utilization to Improve the Quality of School Learning in Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational High School and Garut 1 Vocational High School, both on environmental analysis, strategic formulation, implementation and strategic evaluation. The research method used in this research is the case study method, because the problems studied occur in the place and situation of Ciledug Al Musaddadiyah Vocational School and Vocational High School 1 Garut. The use of case study models in this study is based on the consideration that to provide an overview of the strategic management activities of the use of ICTs carried out at vocational high schools with the ultimate goal of being able to improve the quality of school learning. Based on observations in the field of SMK 1 Garut and SMK Al Musaddadiyah Ciledug Garut is one of the public schools and private schools that have these advantages.

In this article, we evaluate the effectiveness of Cone Beam Computed Tomography, through a case study, in assessing the complication of intracranial bleeding during an endovascular treatment of brain arteriovenous malformation when compared to Multislice-Detector Computed Tomography performed immediately after the procedure. The image quality of Cone Beam Computed Tomography has enough diagnostic value in differentiating between haemorrhage, embolic materials and the arteriovenous malformation nidus to facilitate physicians to decide for further management of the patient.
