Reducing friction in the coaxial sealing systems of hydraulic cylinders is one of the solutions for increasing the energy efficiency of industrial actuations. This is a requirement, particularly in the case of small velocities that carry the risk of eigen-vibrations and/or stick-slip. The authors discuss the experimental research conducted on three coaxial sealing systems made from thermoplastic polymer and polyurethane type materials. The paper presents the equipment and method used for the experimental determination of static and kinematic friction coefficients and discusses the subsequent results obtained to test different working parameters. The experimentally determined friction coefficients yielded a range of materials recommended for coaxial seals such as to minimize the occurrence of jerky operation.

Abstract Most welding manufacturing of the heavy industry, such as shipbuilding and construction, is carried out in an unstructured workspace. The term Unstructured indicates the production environment is irregular, changeable and without model. In this case, the changeable workpiece position, workpiece shape, environmental background, and environmental illumination should be carefully considered. Because of such complicated characteristics, the welding is currently being relied on the manual operation, resulting in high cost, low efficiency and quality. This work proposes a portable robotic welding system and a novel seam tracking method. Compared to existing methods, it can cope with more complex general spatial curve weld. Firstly, the tracking pose of the robot is modeled by a proposed dual-sequence tracking strategy. On this basis, the working parameters can be adjusted to avoid robot-workpiece collision around the workpiece corners during the tracking process. By associating the forward direction of the welding torch with the viewpoint direction of the camera, it solves the problem that the weld feature points are prone to be lost in the tracking process by conventional methods. Point cloud registration is adopted to globally locate the multi-segment welds in the workpiece, since the system deployment location is not fixed. Various experiments on single or multiple welds under different environmental conditions show that even if the robot is deployed in different positions, it can reach the starting point of the weld smoothly and accurately track along the welds.

The growing concern about fossil energy exhaustion, air pollution, and ecological deprivation has made electric vehicles (EVs) a practical option in contrast to combustion engine-driven vehicles. In any case, driving extent uneasiness is one of the innate inadequacies related with EVs. Massive integration of EV charging load into the power system may be a threat to the distribution network. Spontaneous situation of charging stations in the distribution system and uncoordinated charging will augment the load demand thereby resulting in voltage instability, deterioration of reliability indices, harmonic distortions, and escalated power losses. This chapter will concentrate on breaking down the effect of EV chargers on the working parameters, for example, voltage dependability, unwavering quality, and force misfortune. The examination will be completed on standard test systems. The discoveries of the proposed part will evaluate the effect of EV charging load on the working parameters of the distribution system and help in proposing a framework for charging station planning.

In this paper, studies were conducted by a series of single-factor experiments to investigate the effects of ultrasound types and working parameters on the higher alcohols (HA), phenolic compounds, and color properties of red wine, so as to highlight the importance of the comprehensive consideration on its application. The results indicate that ultrasound devices and working parameters do have some definite influences on the HA of wine; moreover, the ultrasound bath (SB-500DTY) is better than the SCIENTZ-950E and the KQ-300VDE. With the SB-500DTY employed to further investigate its effects on phenols and color properties other than on HA, unexpectedly, some variations of color parameters are opposite to the results ever obtained from other ultrasound conditions. In summary, all these results suggest that both the ultrasound type and parameters should be fully considered or neutralized so as to have a comprehensive evaluation about its application, instead of some contradictory results.

Aiming at the low comprehensive utilization rate of corn straw resources, a straw kneading and cutting conveyor suitable for corn harvester was designed to improve the utilization rate of corn straw resources. The workbench module of ANSYS is used to carry out modal analysis of the two blades, and it is determined that the vibration frequency will not cause damage to the blade sweeping bore. By changing the structure of the movable blade shaft, the speed of the blade shaft can be reduced while ensuring the effect of straw crushing and collecting. In order to determine the best working parameters, three-factor and three-level orthogonal test was carried out with blade arrangement, blade shaft speed and length of feed straw as test factors, and the crushing rate of straw as evaluation index. The results show that the main factors influencing the crushing rate of straw are blade shaft speed, blade arrangement and the minor factor is the length of feed straw. Finally, the optimum combination parameters, blade arrangement, blade shaft speed 400 r/min and whole plant feed with straw, were determined. The corresponding straw crushing rate was 96.39%. The research meets the requirements of straw crushing and can provide technical scheme for comprehensive utilization of corn straw.

All machining processes involve vibrations generated by structural sources such as a machine’s moving parts or by the interaction between cutting tools and work-pieces. Relative vibrations between the work-pieces and the cutting tool are the most relevant from the point of view of the regenerative chatter phenomenon. In fact, these vibrations can lead to a chip yregeneration effect, which results in unwanted consequences, rapidly degenerating towards a very poor quality of surface finishing or, in case of severe chatter conditions, to machine-tool or work-piece damage. In the past decades, two different approaches for chatter avoidance were proposed by the scientific community, and they are commonly referred to as Out-of-Process (OuP) and in-Process (iP) solutions. The OuP solutions are off-line approaches, which allow to properly set the working parameters before machining starts. Ip solutions are on-line techniques, which allow to dynamically change the working parameters during machining by using single or multiple sensors. By monitoring the machining process, iP algorithms try to keep the machining process in stable working conditions while keeping high productivity levels. This study dealt with a novel iP chatter-detection strategy based on the Power Spectral Density (PSD) analysis and on the Wavelet Packet Decomposition (WPD) of different sensor signals. The preliminary results demonstrate the stability and feasibility of proposed indicators for chatter detection in industrial application.

In view of the complicated hydraulic system, the many driving parts and the great load variation in the combine harvester, and on-line monitoring methods of hydraulic actuating parts such as cutting tables, conveyors and threshing drums were studied. By analyzing the working principle of the hydraulic system of the combine harvester, a mathematical model of the hydraulic system of the combine harvester was established; a simulation model for the fault diagnosis of the hydraulic system of the combine harvester was established based on AMESim. The load signal was introduced to simulate the feeding amount, and the simulation test was carried out. According to the simulation analysis results, the best position of each monitoring point was determined. The on-line monitoring system of the hydraulic actuators of the combine harvester was designed by using LabView, which can collect and display the working parameters of the main working parts of a combine harvester in real time, and alarm the user to faulty working conditions. The field experiment results show that the function and precision of the monitoring system completely meet the requirements of field operation condition monitoring of combine harvesters. The accuracy rate of the fault alarm is 96.5%, and the automatic diagnosis time of the fault alarm is less than 1 min and 18 s, which greatly improves the operation efficiency of the combine harvester.

During oil fields operation, gas is extracted along with oil. In this article it is suggested to use jet pumps for utilization of the associated oil gas, burning of which causes environmental degradation and poses a potential threat to the human body. In order to determine the possibility of simultaneous application of a sucker-rod pump, which is driven by a rocking machine, and a jet pump (ejector) in the oil well, it is necessary to estimate the distribution of pressure along the borehole from the bottomhole to the mouth for two cases: when the well is operated only be the sucker-rod pump and while additional installation of the oil-gas jet pump above its dynamic level. For this purpose, commonly known methods of Poettman-Carpenter and Baksendel were used. In addition, the equations of high-pressure and low-pressure oil-gas jet pumps were obtained for the case, when the working stream of the jet pump is a gas-oil production mixture and the injected stream is a gas from the annulus of the well. The values which are included in the resulting equations are interrelated and can only be found in a certain sequence. Therefore, a special methodology has been developed for the practical usage of these equations in order to calculate the working parameters of a jet pump based on the given independent working parameters of the oil well. Using this methodology, which was implemented in computer programs, many operating parameters were calculated both for the well and for the jet pump itself (pressures, densities of working, injected and mixed flows, flow velocities and other parameters in control sections). According to the results of calculations, graphs were built that indicate a number of regularities during the oil well operation with such a jet pump. The main result of the performed research is a recommendation list on the choice of the oil-gas jet pump location inside the selected oil well and generalization of the principles for choosing the perfect location of such ejectors for other wells. The novelty of the proposed study lays in a systematic approach to rod pump and our patented ejector pump operation in the oil and chrome plating of pump parts. The result of scientific research is a sound method of determining the rational location of the ejector in the oil well and the calculation of its geometry, which will provide a complete selection of petroleum gas released into the annulus of the oil well. To ensure reliable operation of jet and plunger pumps in oil wells, it is proposed to use reinforcement of parts (bushings, plungers, rods, etc.) by electrochemical chromium plating in a flowing electrolyte. This has significantly increased the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the operational surfaces of these parts and, accordingly, the service life of the pumps. Such measures will contribute to oil production intensification from wells and improve the environmental condition of oil fields.
