Here, we report a new member of rV5-like phages, Escherichia phage vB_EcoM-Pr121LW, isolated from soil samples and lytic against different serogroups of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) strains. With molecular properties that contain no antibiotic resistance, virulence, or lysogenic genes, this phage is a potential biocontrol agent against STEC.

ABSTRACT The complete genome sequence of a Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) O26:H11 strain, MBT-5 (sequence type 21 [ST21], stx1a, stx2a, eae, ehxA), and two draft genome sequences of Listeria monocytogenes strains MBT-6 and MBT-7 belonging to the virulent sequence types 1 (ST1, clonal complex 1 [CC1]) and 59 (ST59, CC59), respectively, were determined. The strains were isolated in 2015 from ready-to-eat mixed greens in Germany.

Plasmid-mediated polymyxin resistance encoded by mcr-1 has increased public health concerns due to the potential for rapid horizontal transfer. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of colistin-resistant Escherichia coli Antibiotic Resistance Isolate Bank number 0346, harboring a plasmid-borne mcr-1 gene.

ABSTRACT The genome sequence of Rhizobium sp. strain 76, a bacterium isolated from the hyphosphere of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum, is reported here. Genome sequencing and assembly yielded 5,375,961 bases with a 59.14% G+C content, comprising two chromosomes and one plasmid.

ABSTRACT Bacteriophage OSYSP is a new anti-Escherichia coli O157:H7 phage isolated from municipal wastewater in Ohio. OSYSP is potent against enterohemorrhagic E. coli and is a candidate biocontrol agent for food and therapeutic applications. In this paper, we present the important genetic features of this phage based on its complete genome sequence.

Although isolation of the bacteriophages (phages) specific to Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) is increasing, the number of those specific to STEC non-O157 strains, instead of STEC O157, with whole-genome sequencing characterization is relatively low. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of a T7-like lytic phage against STEC O45.

ABSTRACT The Shiga toxin-encoding phage SH2026Stx1 was isolated from Escherichia coli O157:H7 strain 2026. SH2026Stx1 and its detoxified derivative can infect a broad range of E. coli strains, including commensal, enteropathogenic, and enteroaggregative strains. We report here the complete genome sequence of phage SH2026Stx1 and its important features.

Although numerous Shiga toxin (Stx)-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) strains have been sequenced, genomic information on Stx-converting phages, highly related to the primary virulence factors of STEC, is scarce. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a Stx-converting phage induced from an outbreak STEC O145 strain.

ABSTRACTThe chemically mutagenizedEscherichia colistrain AS19 was isolated on the basis of its enhanced sensitivity to different antibiotics, in particular to actinomycin. The strain was later modified to study rRNA modifications that confer antibiotic resistance. Here, we present the genome sequence of the variantE. coliAS19-RrmA-.

Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of bacteriophage PhiG17, which is virulent to Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains and was isolated from cattle feces in the North West province of South Africa. This report presents the major genetic features of the phage PhiG17 based on its whole-genome sequence.
