BackgroundAripiprazole (ARI) is often prescribed alone or in combination with other second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) to treat patients with schizophrenia. However, this may increase the potential clinical significance of drug–drug interactions. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is an important and fundamental tool both when administering ARI alone and in combination with other SGAs to monitor ARI pharmacokinetics, adjust the dosage and thereby achieve more effective and safer treatment.AimsThis study retrospectively investigated the effects of four SGA comedications (clozapine, risperidone, quetiapine (QTP) and olanzapine) and other potential factors (sex, age and ARI dose) on the serum concentrations of ARI and dehydroaripiprazole (DARI) in Chinese patients with schizophrenia using TDM data.MethodsHigh-performance liquid chromatography was used to test the serum concentrations of ARI, DARI and ARI+DARI. In addition, steady-state dose-adjusted serum concentrations (ie, concentration-to-dose ratios, C:D ratios) of ARI, DARI and ARI+DARI; sex; age; ARI dose and SGA comedication dose between 299 inpatients with schizophrenia who received ARI or SGA comedication were all collected and analysed. Spearman’s correlation and multiple linear regression analysis were used to evaluate bivariate associations between ARI dose and serum ARI and DARI concentrations and describe the effect of independent variables on serum ARI and DARI concentrations, respectively.ResultsThere were significant differences in the C:D ratios of ARI (χ2=−3.21, p=0.001) and ARI+DARI (χ2=−2.50, p=0.01) between the ARI and SGA groups, as well as in the C:D ratios of ARI (χ2=−3.59, p<0.001) and ARI+DARI (χ2=−3.10, p=0.002) between the female patients in the two groups. Of the four SGAs, only QTP had significant effects on the C:D ratios of ARI (Z=−4.12, p<0.001) and ARI+DARI (Z=−3.62, p<0.001) when compared with the ARI group in the whole sample and on the C:D ratios of ARI, DARI and ARI+DARI (Z=−3.96, p<0.001; Z=−2.22, p=0.03; Z=−3.75, p<0.001, respectively) in women when compared with their counterparts in the ARI group.ConclusionComedication with SGAs resulted in lower C:D ratios of ARI and ARI+DARI compared with ARI monotherapy, and comedication with QTP resulted in lower C:D ratios of ARI and ARI+DARI than ARI monotherapy. Despite this statistical significance of our findings, whether the presently observed effect has clinical significance requires exploration by further research. TDM and dosage regulation of ARI should be performed in Chinese inpatients with schizophrenia who are receiving SGA comedication (especially QTP) to maintain a safe and effective dose-adjusted serum concentration of ARI and DARI.

Iridoids, the largest class of monoterpenoids, are widespread group of substances present in various plant organisms. This study is devoted to investigation of the hepatoprotective activity of a series of iridoid compounds with application of a quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) analysis. The investigated activity was based on in vitro experimental data, where iridoids' effects on CCl4-induced hepatocytes' damage were obtained. The QSAR analysis was carried out using a combination of genetic algorithm for variable selection and multiple linear regression analysis. A set of calculated descriptors was used for modeling, including quantum-chemical descriptors. Several high-performance models were developed and the best model describing the hepatoprotective activity of iridoids is proposed. The model obtained in this study shows not only a statistical significance, but also excellent predictive ability. The obtained model can be used to estimate the hepatoprotective activity of new substituted iridoids.

Peran yang sangat vital dalam mewujudkan prestasi kinerja seorang karyawan adalah dirinya sendiri. Bagaimana dia memiliki semangat dan etos kerja yang tinggi untuk dapat memberikan pengaruh positif pada lingkungannya. Karyawan yang memiliki pemikiran yang luhur mengenai pekerjaannya dapat bekerja dengan tulus. Suatu pandangan dan sikap terhadap kerja dikenal dengan istilah etos kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan uji teoritik mengenai pengaruh etos kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan PT. AE. Untuk menguji pengaruh variabel etos kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan digunakan analisis regresi linear berganda dengan menyebar 132 kuesioner pada karyawan PT. AE. An outlook and attitude towards work is known as the work ethic. This study aims to perform a theoretical test on the effect of the work ethic on the performance of employees of PT. AE. To test the effect of variables on the</strong> <strong>performance of the employee's work ethic multiple linear regression analysis was used, by spread 132 questionnaires to employees of PT. AE. Having analyzed the results obtained R square 0.724 with 0.000 significance (p &lt;0.05), which means the work ethic significant influence on employee performance amounted to 72.4%. This paper proposes the back-propagation neural network (BPN) and applies it to estimate the slump of high-performance concrete (HPC). It is known that HPC is a highly complex material whose behaviour is difficult to model, especially for slump. To estimate the slump, it is a nonlinear function of the content of all concrete ingredients, including cement, fly ash, blast furnace slag, water, superplasticizer, and coarse and fine aggregate. Therefore, slump estimation is set as a function of the content of these seven concrete ingredients and additional four important ratios. The results show that BPN obtains a more accurate mathematical equation through learning procedures which outperforms the traditional multiple linear regression analysis (RA), with lower estimating errors for predicting the HPC slump.

AbstractIn pursuit of better CRTh2 receptor antagonist agents, QSAR studies were performed on a series of 2,4-disubstituted phenoxyacetic acid derivatives. Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis was performed to derive QSAR models which were further evaluated for statistical significance and predictive power by internal and external validation. The best QSAR model was selected; having the correlation coefficient R = 0.904, standard error of estimation SEE = 0.456 and the cross validated squared correlation coefficient Q 2 = 0.739. Predictive ability of the selected model was also confirmed by the leave one out cross validation method and by leave 33 % out Q 2 = 0.688. The QSAR model indicates that the descriptors (logP, SI3, LM, and DVZ) play an important role in the CRTh2 receptor antagonist activities. Results of the present study may be useful in the designing of more potent 2,4-disubstituted phenoxyacetic acid derivatives as CRTh2 receptor antagonist agents.

Background. The number of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) on China market is continuously increasing. It is necessary to investigate the relationships between the front-end styling features of SUVs and head injuries at the styling design stage for improving the pedestrian protection performance and product development efficiency. Methods. Styling feature parameters were extracted from the SUV side contour line. And simplified finite element models were established based on the 78 SUV side contour lines. Pedestrian headform impact simulations were performed and validated. The head injury criterion of 15 ms (HIC15) at four wrap-around distances was obtained. A multiple linear regression analysis method was employed to describe the relationships between the styling feature parameters and the HIC15 at each impact point. Results. The relationship between the selected styling features and the HIC15 showed reasonable correlations, and the regression models and the selected independent variables showed statistical significance. Conclusions. The regression equations obtained by multiple linear regression can be used to assess the performance of SUV styling in protecting pedestrians’ heads and provide styling designers with technical guidance regarding their artistic creations.
