The objective of this paper is to compare field test results obtained in a stiff sensitive clay from Quebec using prebored, instrumented sharp cone tests (ISCTs) with those deduced from prebored and self-boring pressuremeter tests (PMTs and SBPMTs, respectively) and vane shear tests (VSTs). Comparisons are also made with triaxial test results. It is shown that undrained shear strengths Su deduced from PMTs and ISCTs are greatly overestimated with respect to the values inferred from SBPMTs and VSTs. As for the shear modulus G, the opposite is true. These discrepancies are considered to arise from initial disturbance and unloading caused by drilling of pilot holes in the case of PMTs and ISCTs. Interpretation problems may be also related to the existence of very high lateral pressures at rest in the clay deposit.

Abstract: This study aims to produce guidance products that have acceptance criteria. The type of research used is development using the research design of Borg and Gall. The stages used in this research are information gathering, planning, initial field testing, developing the initial product format, product revision, main field testing, and product revision or refining the main field test results. The data obtained in the form of quantitative data with the gregory model interrater agreement. The subjects in the field test consisted of two BK experts, two media experts, and two potential product users. The assessment conducted by the expert refers to the criteria for product acceptance which includes aspects of accuracy, aspects of usability, and aspects of eligibility. Based on the results of the field test the assessment results obtained from BK experts have a validity index of 0.73 which is categorized as "high", the assessment of media experts is 1.00 which is categorized as "very high", and from potential users that is 1.00 which is categorized as "very high ", so it can be concluded that the guidelines developed meet the product acceptance criteria.

A review of a uniquely designed floated jack-up concrete slab to isolate fourteen movie theaters on multiple floors within a multi-use building. The jack-up boxes were engineered and custom tailored to increase airborne sound transmission loss performance while achieving a very high vibration isolation efficiency specified. Field test results were obtained to validate the floating jack-up concrete's acoustical performance.

In the paper, the bond between a composite strengthening system consisting of steel textiles embedded into an inorganic matrix (steel reinforced grout, SRG) and the concrete substrate, is investigated. An experimental investigation was carried out on medium density SRG specimens; direct shear tests were conducted on 20 specimens to analyze the effect of the bond length, and the age of the composite strip on the SRG-to-concrete bond behavior. In particular, the tests were conducted considering five bond length (100, 200, 250, 330, and 450 mm), and the composite strip’s age 14th, 21st, and 28th day after the bonding. Test results in the form of peak load, failure modes and, bond-slip diagrams were presented and discussed. A finite element model developed through commercial software to replicate the behavior of SRG strips, is also proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed numerical model was validated by the comparison between its predictions and experimental results.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate outdoor PM2.5 infiltration into multifamily homes according to the building characteristics using regression models. Field test results from 23 multifamily homes were analyzed to investigate the infiltration factor and building characteristics including floor area, volume, outer surface area, building age, and airtightness. Correlation and regression analysis were then conducted to identify the building factor that is most strongly associated with the infiltration of outdoor PM2.5. The field tests revealed that the average PM2.5 infiltration factor was 0.71 (±0.19). The correlation analysis of the building characteristics and PM2.5 infiltration factor revealed that building airtightness metrics (ACH50, ELA/FA, and NL) had a statistically significant (p < 0.05) positive correlation (r = 0.70, 0.69, and 0.68, respectively) with the infiltration factor. Following the correlation analysis, a regression model for predicting PM2.5 infiltration based on the ACH50 airtightness index was proposed. The study confirmed that the outdoor-origin PM2.5 concentration in highly leaky units could be up to 1.59 times higher than that in airtight units.

Two of the most important parameters in dynamic analysis involving soils are the dynamic shear modulus and the damping ratio. In this study, a series of tests were performed on gravels. For comparison, some other tests carried out by other researchers were also collected. The test results show that normalized shear modulus and damping ratio vary with the shear strain amplitude, (1) normalized shear modulus decreases with the increase of dynamic shear strain amplitude, and as the confining pressure increases, the test data points move from the low end toward the high end; (2) damping ratio increases with the increase of shear strain amplitude, damping ratio is dependent on confining pressure where an increase in confining pressure decreased damping ratio. According to the test results, a reference formula is proposed to evaluate the maximum dynamic shear modulus, the best-fit curve and standard deviation bounds for the range of data points are also proposed.
