Studies of meson production in the pd → 3He X reaction, where X = η, η′ and ω, and their decays are investigated with the WASA-at-COSY facility. The angular distribution of the η in the center of mass of the 3He-η system, have been measured at an excess energy of Q = 61 MeV over the full angular range. The anisotropy expected at the relatively large Q is observed.

Angular distribution data for the elastic scattering of 1.37 GeV alpha particles from several nuclei are analyzed in terms of the three parameter strong absorption model of Frahn and Venter. The fits are quite satisfactory over practically the entire angular range and the best fit parameters are obtained. These are used for the study of the inelastic scattering of alpha particles leading to the collective states in nuclei. A reasonably good fit is obtained without any adjustment of the parameters suggesting thereby the success of the strong absorption model. Deformation parameters are extracted for the collective states in nuclei. Asiat. Soc. Bangladesh, Sci. 40(2): 249-258, December 2014

The main aim of the relativistic heavy-ion experiment is to create extremely hot and dense matter and study the QCD phase structure. With this motivation, experimental program started in the early 1990s at the Brookhaven Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) and the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) followed by Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven and recently at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. These experiments allowed us to study the QCD matter from center-of-mass energies (sNN) 4.75 GeV to 2.76 TeV. Theϕmeson, due to its unique properties, is considered as a good probe to study the QCD matter created in relativistic collisions. In this paper we present a review on the measurements ofϕmeson production in heavy-ion experiments. Mainly, we discuss the energy dependence ofϕmeson invariant yield and the production mechanism, strangeness enhancement, parton energy loss, and partonic collectivity in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Effect of later stage hadronic rescattering on elliptic flow (v2) of proton is also discussed relative to corresponding effect onϕmesonv2.

The measurement of the η meson production in [Formula: see text] reaction has been performed at the Big Karl magnetic spectograph at COSY synchrotron in Jülich. The vector and tensor polarized deuetron beam at the excess energy of Q=16 MeV was used. The preliminary results for the unpolarized cross section are presented here.

The angular distribution of 179 O 05 Me V neutrons scattered from 'He has been measured in an effort to settle" a discrepancy in the phase shifts. The laboratory angular range 25 to 135 was covered. The results are compared with differential cross sections computed from the phase shifts of Dodder and Gammel (1952) and Demanins et al. (1962), and the data are seen to agree best with the former.

The vector correlations between products and reagents of the N (2D) + D 2 reaction are investigated by employing quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) calculation on the accurate DMBE potential energy surface (PES) of the 2A″ state. Stereo-dynamic quantities, including the four generalized polarization-dependent differential cross-sections (PDDCSs), the angular distribution P(θr), the dihedral-angle distribution P(φr), as well as the product rotational angular distribution in the polar form of P(θr, φr), are calculated in the center-of-mass (CM) frame. The results indicate that the product rotational angular momentum j′ not only aligns along the y-axis, but also orients to the negative direction of the y-axis. The isotope effect in the context of chemical stereo-dynamics and influences of different versions of ground-state PESs on vector correlations are shown and discussed.

The yield and angular distribution of the γ rays from the reaction D(p, γ) He3 have been measured with thick heavy-ice targets in the energy range from 24 kev to 48 kev. Assuming a simplified energy dependence the results have been analyzed to give cross sections for p-wave and s-wave capture. At 25 kev in the laboratory system, the cross sections are[Formula: see text]The astrophysical S-factors in the center-of-mass system below 40 kev have been found to be[Formula: see text]for E in center-of-mass kilovolts and[Formula: see text]independent of energy giving a total S-factor for low energies[Formula: see text]with E in center-of-mass kilovolts.

Elastic and inelastic scattering of protons on 7Li, 9Be, and 12C have been studied, using the 100-MeV proton beam from the McGill synchrocyclotron. Differential cross sections for the various groups of scattered protons were measured over an angular range of 5° to 90° (lab). For proton groups resulting from a quadrupole excitation in the target nucleus, the angular distribution was found to increase at scattering angles less than 10°. Angular distributions corresponding to an octupole excitation were observed to decrease at small angles. The results have been compared with existing data in this energy region.

The present work is aimed at the study of the characteristics of particle production in interactions between proton and light nuclei. The features studied are angular distribution, inelasticity, transverse momentum, and center-of-mass momentum of the secondary particles. In order to determine the contribution of multinucleon collisions, the results have been compared with those of proton–nucleon interactions. It has been found that, whereas the features of low-multiplicity events closely resemble the similar events from p–N collisions, those of high-multiplicity events are somewhat modified by the occurrence of intranuclear interactions.

Preliminary results on the differential cross section in dp elastic scattering has been obtained at 1.25 GeV/u with HADES within a large angular range in the center of mass system. The obtained data correspond to large transverse momenta, where a sensitivity to the 2 N and 3 N short range correlations is expected.
