To overcome the low efficiency of conventional confocal Raman spectroscopy, many efforts have been devoted to parallelizing the Raman excitation and acquisition, in which the scattering from multiple foci is projected onto different locations on a spectrometer’s CCD, along either its vertical, horizontal dimension, or even both. While the latter projection scheme relieves the limitation on the row numbers of the CCD, the spectra of multiple foci are recorded in one spectral channel, resulting in spectral overlapping. Here, we developed a method under a compressive sensing framework to demultiplex the superimposed spectra of multiple cells during their dynamic processes. Unlike the previous methods which ignore the information connection between the spectra of the cells recorded at different time, the proposed method utilizes a prior that a cell’s spectra acquired at different time have the same sparsity structure in their principal components. Rather than independently demultiplexing the mixed spectra at the individual time intervals, the method demultiplexes the whole spectral sequence acquired continuously during the dynamic process. By penalizing the sparsity combined from all time intervals, the collaborative optimization of the inversion problem gave more accurate recovery results. The performances of the method were substantiated by a 1D Raman tweezers array, which monitored the germination of multiple bacterial spores. The method can be extended to the monitoring of many living cells randomly scattering on a coverslip, and has a potential to improve the throughput by a few orders.

For low-power wireless systems, transmission data volume is a key property, which influences the energy cost and time delay of transmission. In this paper, we introduce compressive sensing to propose a compressed sampling and collaborative reconstruction framework, which enables real-time direction of arrival estimation for wireless sensor array network. In sampling part, random compressed sampling and 1-bit sampling are utilized to reduce sample data volume while making little extra requirement for hardware. In reconstruction part, collaborative reconstruction method is proposed by exploiting similar sparsity structure of acoustic signal from nodes in the same array. Simulation results show that proposed framework can reach similar performances as conventional DoA methods while requiring less than 15% of transmission bandwidth. Also the proposed framework is compared with some data compression algorithms. While simulation results show framework’s superior performance, field experiment data from a prototype system is presented to validate the results.

Samples of low-density, highly disordered silica aerogel with initial bulk density of 0.16 g/cm3, were sintered isothermally in different time intervals at 1000?C. Structural changes during the sintering process have been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. Defect modes of irregular three and four membered rings were observed in the Raman spectra of sintered samples.

Compressive sensing has the ability of reconstruction of signal/image from the compressive measurements which are sensed with a much lower number of samples than a minimum requirement by Nyquist sampling theorem. The random acquisition is widely suggested and used for compressive sensing. In the random acquisition, the randomness of the sparsity structure has been deployed for compressive sampling of the signal/image. The article goes through all the literature up to date and collects the main methods, and simply described the way each of them randomly applies the compressive sensing. This article is a comprehensive review of random acquisition techniques in compressive sensing. Theses techniques have reviews under the main categories of (1) random demodulator, (2) random convolution, (3) modulated wideband converter model, (4) compressive multiplexer diagram, (5) random equivalent sampling, (6) random modulation pre-integration, (7) quadrature analog-to-information converter, (8) randomly triggered modulated-wideband compressive sensing (RT-MWCS).

Abstract Background Depression is a debilitating condition that affects the individual and the family. Objective This study sought to identify potential reciprocal influences between family arguments and depressive symptoms among clinically depressed patients over a 23-year span. Methods The present study employed a longitudinal, observational design with 424 depressed patients. Separate cross-lagged path models examined longitudinal associations for women and men over 23 years while adjusting for age, income, and marital and parental status. Results Among depressed men, more severe baseline depressive symptoms predicted more family arguments 10 years later. Among depressed women, more severe baseline depressive symptoms predicted fewer family arguments 1 year later, while more severe depressive symptoms at 10-year follow-up predicted more family arguments at 23-year follow-up. More family arguments predicted more severe depressive symptoms among women and men, with some variation in the time intervals of these associations. Conclusion These findings suggest that while depressive symptoms may temporarily diminish family arguments among women, such symptoms were associated with more family arguments over longer time intervals. Moreover, family arguments put depressed men and women at risk for more severe depressive symptoms. These results support the use of screening for family arguments and interventions to help depressed individuals develop skills to manage interpersonal conflict.

To solve problems that exist in optimal design such as falling into local optimal solution easily and low efficiency in collaborative optimization, a new mix strategy optimization method combined design of experiments (DOE) with gradient optimization (GO) was proposed. In order to reduce the effect on the result of optimization made by the designers decision, DOE for preliminary analysis of the function model was used, and the optimal values obtained in DOE stage was taken as the initial values of design variables in GO stage in the new optimization method. The reducer MDO problem was taken as a example to confirm the global degree, efficiency, and accuracy of the method. The results show the optimization method could not only avoid falling into local solution, but also have an obvious superiority in treating the complex collaborative optimization problems.

ABSTRACT The half-life of 7α-3H-dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), sodium 7α-3H-DHEA sulfate, and biosynthetic 7α-3H-DHEA sulfatide has been determined in guinea-pigs. Following the isolation of the individual compounds from plasma at various time intervals the half-life was found to be 2:30 and 3:00 minutes for DHEA sulfate, 7:15 and 8:15 minutes for free DHEA and 23 and 28 minutes for DHEA sulfatide. This data seems to support the hypothesis that steroid sulfatides may represent a labile transport form of steroid sulfates.

Creating appropriate conditions for a stable development of the individual, society and state, and simultaneously providing a high level of protection of national interests, has been identified as a priority of the Ukrainian national security policy. The Ukrainian state ought to review all challenges and threats and adopt a new national security strategy. Current circumstances require the National Security Strategy of Ukraine of 2015 to become an integral functional element of the security and defence sector. The National Security Strategy has to become an open and mandatory document developed solely for the practical purpose of comprehensive protection of national security and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The implementation of these priorities is to be ensured through the restoration of peace and state sovereignty in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, by implementing a complex set of international, legal, political, diplomatic, security, humanitarian, and economic measures. The key implementation goal should focus on the establishment of the principles of safe and legal country, free in its choice of domestic and foreign political options and development tendencies. External threats are rather more dangerous than internal, but the content of geopolitical security is primarily based on the organic combination of external and internal security. The imperfection of national security legislation and the low efficiency of its implementation are the reason for malfunctioning of the defence sector, which makes ensuring the full realization of national interests impossible.

Forage annual and perennial grasses are the difficult subject for molecular and genetic studies because of the problem with obtaining qualitative genomic DNA for PCR, due of high content of proteins, polysaccharides and polyphenols. The known methods of DNA extraction or the numerous commercial kits allow isolating purified nucleic acids from the leaf tissue, but characterized by low efficiency at seedlings using. The modified method of DNA isolation, based on the SDS-extraction buffer (sodium dodecil sulfate), is presented in this study. Significant modifications were introduced in the reagents compound and the steps of procedure accordingly to used type of plant tissue and the result was positive at usage on the bulking samples, as well as on the individual genotypes (the only seedling). Reliability of this method and the functionality of the obtained DNA samples were tested in PCR with different molecular markers (SSR, SRAP and PawS) in researches on revealing of forage legume grasses DNA polymorphism. The general advantages of the proposed method are simplicity and effectiveness, the possibility to isolate qualitative DNA without toxic reagents application, as well as relatively low cost and availability of reagents. This method can be useful for studying the genetic biodiversity and for decision the different tasks, required the rapid analysis of large plant populations.

A study was conducted on the manifestation of the categorical effect of the perception of faces of the Caucasian and Mongoloid type under different time conditions of exposure of images. It was shown that at time intervals from 200 cm to 1 s, the effect of manifestation is different. It is shown that with increasing exposure time of stimulus images, the accuracy of solving the discriminatory AVX problem for all pairs of images in the transition series increases. Moreover, the manifestations of the classical effect of categorization of perception are observed only when demonstrating images for 200 ms. The hypothesis about the relationship between the accuracy of solving the discriminatory task and the individual characteristics of the subjects was also tested. In general, this hypothesis has not been confirmed. However, at the level of the trend, a relationship was found between individual accuracy in solving the discriminatory AVX problem and the strength of the nervous system, diagnosed using the Tapping test method.
