The condition monitoring technology and fault diagnosis technology of mechanical equipment played an important role in the modern engineering. Rolling bearing is the most common component of mechanical equipment which sustains and transfers the load. Therefore, fault diagnosis of rolling bearings has great significance. Fractal theory provides an effective method to describe the complexity and irregularity of the vibration signals of rolling bearings. In this paper a novel multifractal fault diagnosis approach based on time-frequency domain signals was proposed. The method and numerical algorithm of Multi-fractal analysis in time-frequency domain were provided. According to grid typeJand order parameterqin algorithm, the value range ofJand the cut-off condition ofqwere optimized based on the effect on the dimension calculation. Simulation experiments demonstrated that the effective signal identification could be complete by multifractal method in time-frequency domain, which is related to the factors such as signal energy and distribution. And the further fault diagnosis experiments of bearings showed that the multifractal method in time-frequency domain can complete the fault diagnosis, such as the fault judgment and fault types. And the fault detection can be done in the early stage of fault. Therefore, the multifractal method in time-frequency domain used in fault diagnosis of bearing is a practicable method.

As one of the important parts of modern mechanical equipment, the accurate real-time diagnosis of rolling bearing is particularly important. Traditional fault diagnosis methods have some disadvantages, such as low diagnostic accuracy and difficult fault feature extraction. In this paper, a method combining Wavelet transform (WT) and Deformable Convolutional Neural Network (D-CNN) is proposed to realize accurate real-time fault diagnosis of end-to-end rolling bearing. The vibration signal of rolling bearing is taken as the monitoring target. Firstly, the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) algorithm is used to remove the harmonic signal and retain the impact signal and noise. Secondly, the time-frequency map of the signal is obtained by time-frequency transform using Wavelet analysis. Finally, the D-CNN is used for feature extraction and classification. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the method can reach 99.9% under various fault modes, and it can accurately identify the fault of rolling bearing.

Intelligent fault diagnosis algorithm for rolling bearings has received increasing attention. However, in actual industrial environments, most rolling bearings work under severe working conditions of variable speed and strong noise, which makes the performance of many intelligent fault diagnosis methods deteriorate sharply. In this regard, this paper proposes a new intelligent diagnosis algorithm for rolling bearing faults based on a residual dilated pyramid network and full convolutional denoising autoencoder (RDPN-FCDAE). First, a continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is used to convert original vibration signals into time-frequency images. Secondly, a deep two-stage RDPN-FCDAE model is constructed, which is divided into three parts: encoding network, decoding network and classification network. In order to obtain efficient expression of data denoising feature of encoding network, time-frequency images are first input into the encoding-decoding network for unsupervised pre-training. Then pre-trained coding network and classification network are combined into residual dilated pyramid full convolutional network (RDPFCN) for parameter fine-tuning and testing. The proposed method is applied to bearing vibration datasets of test rig with different speeds and noise modes. Compared with representative machine learning and deep learning method, the results show that the algorithm proposed is superior to other methods in diagnostic accuracy, noise robustness and feature segmentation ability.

Due to importance of rolling bearings as one of the most widely used industrial machinery elements, development of proper monitoring and fault diagnosis procedure to prevent malfunctioning and failure of these elements during operation is necessary. For rolling bearing fault detection, it is expected that a desired time-frequency analysis method have good computational efficiency, and have good resolution in both, time and frequency domain. The point of interest in this investigation is the present of an effective method for multi fault diagnosis in such systems with optimizing signal decomposition levels by using wavelet analysis and support vector machine (SVM). The system that is under study is an electric motor which has two rolling bearings, one of them is next to the output shaft and the other one is next to the fan and for each of them there is one normal form and three false forms, which make 8 forms for study. The outcome that we have achieved from wavelet analysis and SVM are fully in agreement with empirical result.

Abstract Mechanical intelligent fault diagnosis is an important method to accurately identify the health status of mechanical equipment. Traditional fault diagnosis methods perform poorly in the diagnosis of rolling bearings under complex conditions. In this paper, a feature transfer learning model based on improved DenseNet and joint distribution adaptation (FT-IDJ) is proposed. With this model, we apply it to implement rolling bearing fault diagnosis. A lightweight DenseNet model is firstly proposed to extract the transferable features of the raw vibration signal. Furthermore, the parameters in the DenseNet are constrained by the domain adaptive regularization term and pseudo label learning. The marginal distribution discrepancy and the conditional distribution discrepancy of the learned transferable features are reduced by this way. The proposed method is validated by the diagnosis experiments with CWRU and Jiangnan University rolling bearing datasets. The experimental results showed that the proposed FT-IDJ has higher classification accuracy than DAN and other eight methods, which demonstrated its effectively learning transferable features from auxiliary data.

Due to the difficulty that excessive feature dimension in fault diagnosis of rolling bearing will lead to the decrease of classification accuracy, a fault diagnosis method based on Xgboost algorithm feature extraction is proposed. When the Xgboost algorithm classifies features, it generates an order of importance of the input features. The time domain features were extracted from the vibration signal of the rolling bearing, the time-frequency features were formed by the singular value of the modal components that were decomposed by the variational mode decomposition. Firstly, the extracted time domain and time-frequency domain features were input into the support vector machine respectively to observe the fault diagnosis accuracy. Then, Xgboost algorithm was used to rank the importance of features and got the accuracy of fault diagnosis. Finally, important features were extracted and the extracted features were input into the support vector machine to observe the fault diagnosis accuracy. The result shows that the fault diagnosis accuracy of rolling bearing is improved after important feature extraction in time domain and time-frequency domain by Xgboost.

In order to improve the prediction accuracy of performance degradation trends of rolling bearings, a method based on the joint approximative diagonalization of eigen-matrices (JADE) and particle swarm optimization support vector machine (PSO-SVM) was proposed. Firstly, the features of the time-domain, frequency-domain, and time-frequency-domain eigenvalues of the vibration signal corresponding to the entire life cycle of the rolling bearing are extracted, and the performance degradation parameters are initially selected by using the monotonicity parameter. Then, a fusion feature that can effectively represent the performance degradation is obtained by using the JADE method. Finally, the prediction model based on PSO-SVM is constructed to predict the performance degradation trend. By comparing with the prediction results obtained by other classical methods, it can be proved that this method can accurately predict the performance degradation trend and the remaining useful life (RUL) of rolling bearings under small sample sizes, and has considerable application potentials.

As the key component to transmit power and torque, the fault diagnosis of rotating machinery is crucial to guarantee the reliable operation of mechanical equipment. Regrettably, sample class imbalance is a common phenomenon in industrial applications, which causes large cross-domain distribution discrepancies for domain adaptation (DA) and results in performance degradation for most of the existing mechanical fault diagnosis approaches. To address this issue, a novel DA approach that simultaneously reduces the cross-domain distribution difference and the geometric difference is proposed, which is defined as MRMI. This work contains three parts to improve the sample class imbalance issue: (1) A novel distance metric method (MVD) is proposed and applied to improve the performance of marginal distribution adaptation. (2) Manifold regularization is combined with instance reweighting to simultaneously explore the intrinsic manifold structure and remove irrelevant source-domain samples adaptively. (3) The ℓ2-norm regularization is applied as the data preprocessing tool to improve the model generalization performance. The gear and rolling bearing datasets with class imbalanced samples are applied to validate the reliability of MRMI. According to the fault diagnosis results, MRMI can significantly outperform competitive approaches under the condition of sample class imbalance.

Aiming at the local fault diagnosis of planetary gearbox gears, a feature extraction method based on improved dynamic time warping (IDTW) is proposed. As a calibration matching algorithm, the dynamic time warping method can detect the differences between a set of time-domain signals. This paper applies the method to fault diagnosis. The method is simpler and more intuitive than feature extraction methods in the frequency domain and the time-frequency domain, avoiding their limitations and disadvantages. Due to the shortcomings of complex calculation, singularity and poor robustness, the paper proposes an improved method. Finally, the method is verified by envelope spectral feature analysis and the local fault diagnosis of gears is realised.

Rolling bearings are vital components in rotary machinery, and their operating condition affects the entire mechanical systems. As one of the most important denoising methods for nonlinear systems, local projection (LP) denoising method can be used to reduce noise effectively. Afterwards, high-order polynomials are utilized to estimate the centroid of the neighborhood to better preserve complete geometry of attractors; thus, high-order local projection (HLP) can improve noise reduction performance. This paper proposed an adaptive high-order local projection (AHLP) denoising method in the field of fault diagnosis of rolling bearings to deal with different kinds of vibration signals of faulty rolling bearings. Optimal orders can be selected corresponding to vibration signals of outer ring fault (ORF) and inner ring fault (IRF) rolling bearings, because they have different nonlinear geometric structures. The vibration signal model of faulty rolling bearing is adopted in numerical simulations, and the characteristic frequencies of simulated signals can be well extracted by the proposed method. Furthermore, two kinds of experimental data have been processed in application researches, and fault frequencies of ORF and IRF rolling bearings can be both clearly extracted by the proposed method. The theoretical derivation, numerical simulations, and application research can indicate that the proposed novel approach is promising in the field of fault diagnosis of rolling bearing.
