The electroconductive AZO@TiO2whiskers have been successfully preparedviacoating Al doped ZnO onto TiO2whisker. The orthogonal tests were employed to optimize the synthetic conditions. The crystallographic structure and the morphology of the AZO@TiO2whiskers and the polypropylene nonwoven fabrics modified with AZO@TiO2whiskers were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, four-probe meter, and electrometer. The results showed the AZO@TiO2whiskers exhibited good electroconductive performance. Moreover, the polypropylene nonwoven fabrics modified with AZO@TiO2whiskers revealed excellent antistatic performance indicating wide application of AZO@TiO2whiskers in the antistatic textiles.

The Al2O3-doped ZnO(AZO) films were deposited on the glasses by means of RF magnetron sputtering technology. The films were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Profile-system respectively. The effect of substrate temperature on the structure of the AZO films is investigated. As a result, the properties of the AZO thin films are remarkably influenced by the substrate temperature , especially in the range of 200°C to 500 °C. The film prepared at the substrate temperature of 400°C possesses the best crystalline.

Al-doped ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by sonochemical method from zinc acetate dehydrate and aluminum acetate as starting precursors. The deionized (DI) water was selected as the solvent. Sonication of the precursor was performed by a Sonics Model VCX 750 for 30 minutes until precipitated product was finally obtained. The as-precipitated powders were calcined at different temperature range of 550-1100 °C for 2 hr. For all samples, their crystal structures were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and surface morphologies were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The XRD results revealed that, the purity of as-synthesized powders increases when the calcination temperature increases. Moreover, it is noticed that the AlZnO partial peaks will appear when the as-synthesized powders were calcined at 800 – 1000 °C. In addition, SEM micrographs show the increase of agglomeration and the particles when the calcination temperature increases.

Talc/TiO2 composite particle was prepared with TiO2 coating on the surfaces of the talc particles by mechano-chemical method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to investigate the microstructures and morphologies of the composite particles. The mechanism of the mechano-chemical reaction was researched by infrared spectra (IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The prepared talc/TiO2 composite particle has similar pigment properties compared with TiO2, with its hiding power 10.45[Formula: see text]g/cm3 and whiteness 97.49%. The results show that TiO2 coated evenly on the surfaces of the talc particles by Si–O–Ti and Mg–O–Ti bonds through surface dehydroxylation reaction.

BCN–TiO2 was prepared by doping Ti(OH)4 with graphite-like structure BCN in an annealing process at 400[°C] for 2[h]. The catalyst samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Graphite-like structure BCN was detected by XRD. The results showed that with graphite-like structure BCN doped in, the crystal size became smaller than pure TiO2. Also B, C, N were detected in crystal lattice of TiO2, in which Boron was in the form of Bx+, Carbon substituted some of the lattice oxygen atoms as Ti-C, and Nitrogen was in the form of Ti-N and Ti-O-N.

The effect of the neodymium content on mechanical properties of the electro-brush plated nanoAl2O3/Ni composite coating was investigated in this paper. The microstructure and phase structure were studied with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The hardness and abrasion properties of several coatings with different neodymium content were studied by nanoindentation test and friction / wear experiment. Results show that the coatings are much finer and more compact when the neodymium was added, and the hardness and abrasion property of the coatings with neodymium were improved obviously. Besides, the small cracks conduced by the upgrowth stress in the coatings were ameliorated when the rare earth neodymium was added. The improvement mechanism was further discussed.

Ultrafine fibers were electrospun from polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/N,N-dimethyl formamide (DMF) solution as a precursor of carbon nanofibers. The effects of solution concentration, applied voltage and flow rate on preparation and morphologies of electrospun PAN fibers were investigated. Morphologies of the green fibers, stabilized fibers and carbonized fibers were compared by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The diameter of PAN nanofibers is about 450nm and the distribution of diameter is well-proportioned. Characterization of the elements changes of fibers were performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

In this paper, the effects of briquetting pressure on the performance of in-situ formed Sialon in Al2O3-C refractory bricks are investigated. The phase compositions and microstructure of the Al2O3-C refractory were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).The results show the briquetting pressure hardly has effect on the phase of the sintered specimens, two new phases of Sialon with a Z value of 2 and SiC formed. The micrographs of Sialon crystals have the shape of both column and tabular column, but with a cone tip in the specimens sintered at 200MPa and 300MPa and smooth tip in specimens sintered at 400MPa and 500MPa.
