Blockchain is a key technology that has the potential to decentralize the way we store, share, and manage information and data. One of the more recent blockchain platforms that has emerged is Hyperledger Fabric, an open source, permissioned blockchain that was introduced by IBM, first as Hyperledger Fabric v0.6, and then more recently, in 2017, IBM released Hyperledger Fabric v1.0. Although there are many blockchain platforms, there is no clear methodology for evaluating and assessing the different blockchain platforms in terms of their various aspects, such as performance, security, and scalability. In addition, the new version of Hyperledger Fabric was never evaluated against any other blockchain platform. In this paper, we will first conduct a performance analysis of the two versions of Hyperledger Fabric, v0.6 and v1.0. The performance evaluation of the two platforms will be assessed in terms of execution time, latency, and throughput, by varying the workload in each platform up to 10,000 transactions. Second, we will analyze the scalability of the two platforms by varying the number of nodes up to 20 nodes in each platform. Overall, the performance analysis results across all evaluation metrics, scalability, throughput, execution time, and latency, demonstrate that Hyperledger Fabric v1.0 consistently outperforms Hyperledger Fabric v0.6. However, Hyperledger Fabric v1.0 platform performance did not reach the performance level in current traditional database systems under high workload scenarios.

Traditional database systems and languages are very rigid. XML data and query languages are not the exception. Fuzzy set theory is an appropriate tool for solving this problem. In this sense, Fuzzy XQuery was proposed as an extension of the XQUERY standard. This language defines the xs:truth datatype, the xml:truth attribute and allows the definition and use of fuzzy terms in queries. The main goal of this chapter is to show a high coupling implementation of Fuzzy XQuery within eXist-db, an open source XML DBMS. This extension strategy could also be used with other similar tools. This chapter also presents a statistical performance analysis of the extended fuzzy query engine using the XMark benchmark with user defined fuzzy terms. The study presents promising results.

The term Big Data has gained popularity in recent years due to technological developments and the accumulation of data from various sources, mobile devices and sensors. Hbase is a distributed open source environment that uses available disk space optimally and efficiently based on data. It organizes data in a very different way from standard relational databases and works with both structured and unstructured data. This article describes our experience and research on how the execution time for inserting datasets and selecting data depends on the size of the data volumes, the locations (nodes of the same or different networks) from which they send or retrieve and what is the effect of the selected data organization (especially RowKey design) on the execution time.

This paper presents the performance evaluation of RISC – V architecture based processor using Gem5 simulator. The performance analysis metrics such as bandwidth, latency, throughput, branch prediction, pipeline stages and memory hierarchy of the processor architecture are studied using Gem5 simulator. Different simulation models are carried out to arrive the best reference model for RISC-V architecture design and development. In this reference model cache memory functionality feature is verified with the verification methodology called Universal Verification Methodology (UVM). From simulations it is found that both the program and data cache provides optimum performance in terms of execution time, hit rates, miss rate and miss latencies.

Distributed database management systems manage a huge amount of data as well as large and increasingly growing number of users through different types of queries. Therefore, efficient methods for accessing these data volumes will be required to provide a high and an acceptable level of system performance.  Data in these systems are varying in terms of types from texts to images, audios and videos that must be available through an optimized level of replication. Distributed database systems have many parameters like data distribution degree, operation mode and the number of sites and replication. These parameters have played a major role in any performance evaluation study. This paper investigates the main parameters that may affect the system performance, which may help with configuring the distributed database system for enhancing the overall system performance.

Objectives: Tobacco logistics matters greatly in the development of the tobacco industry. Logistics performance evaluation is a sub-part of tobacco enterprise management performance evaluation. The in-depth study of logistics performance evaluation can form a more comprehensive enterprise management performance evaluation system, and provide logistics management tools such as control, diagnosis and coordination for enterprise logistics management. Methods: In this paper, a tobacco enterprise logistics performance evaluation index system is constructed from six aspects, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, informatization, customer service and finance. A tobacco enterprise logistics performance evaluation method based on principal component analysis is put forward. Results: Through calculation, the comprehensive evaluation value of tobacco logistics performance of enterprises X in each year is obtained. The enterprise logistics performance is the worst in 2016. The enterprise logistics performance is the best in 2019. It indicates that the logistics level and ability of tobacco enterprises are improving year by year. Conclusion: Seen from the example, the principal component analysis method can be used to properly evaluate the logistics performance level of tobacco enterprises, and provide objective and quantitative reference data for tobacco enterprises to improve their logistics performance level and benefits.
