Thin-walled stiffened panels are fundamental structural components that form the primary structure of the ship hull. The effectiveness of the stiffener configuration design needs to be assessed because members are unavoidably subjected to various load types during operations. In this situation, assessment is required to quantify the responses and determine the relationship between the structural resistance and input parameters. The aim of this work was to obtain structural resistance data on the stiffened side hull of a medium-sized tanker with various model configurations by using finite element analysis with different loading parameters, i.e., load type and angle, as the main inputs. The results indicate that stiffener configurations subjected to loads at the center and random positions influence the effectiveness in reducing the deformation. The results show that the stiffener is more effective when the location of the force is very close to the stiffener. Therefore, higher strength can be obtained with a design in which the area that is not supported by the stiffener is minimized.

Experimental research on square and octagonal concrete filled thin-walled steel tube long columns of 6 specimens in axial compression and 8 specimens in eccentric compression is undertaken. The relationship of global buckling bearing capacity of the columns and local buckling of the steel tubes is obtained. The test indicates that local buckling occurs in steel tube of each column before it reaches ultimate capacity, and has little effect on global buckling performance. The ultimate load decreases obviously with the increase of slender ratio and eccentricity. The ductility of columns increases with the increase of steel ratio in composite sections. Composite beam element of ANSYS is adopted in the finite element analysis. The theoretical results are agreed well with test..

This paper proposes a computation method using the equivalent magnetic circuit to analyze the driving force for the non-contact permanent magnet linear drive system. In this device, the magnetic driving force is related to the rotation angle of driving wheels. The relationship is verified by finite element analysis and measuring experiments. The result of finite element simulation is in good agreement with the model established by the equivalent magnetic circuit. Then experiments of displacement control are carried out to test the dynamic characteristic of this system. The controller of the system adopts the combination control of displacement and angle. The results indicate that the system has good performance in steady-state error and response speed, while the maximum overshoot needs to be reduced.

Shadow work continues to witness a significant uptick in the context of mobile shopping. Therefore, we question whether shadow work perceived by mobile shoppers may become a bigger problem, create fatigue for mobile shoppers, and lead them to discontinue the use of mobile shopping apps. This study examines the relationship between shadow work and the discontinuance of mobile shopping apps. Data from a total of 266 completed surveys were collected by a market research firm. We adopted partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess both the measurement and structural components of the model. The results show that both information overload and system feature overload positively influence individuals’ shadow work. This study explores the concept of shadow work in the context of mobile shopping apps. Specifically, the study developed the relationships between the antecedents and consequences of shadow work in the mobile shopping context. The main contribution of our study is that it introduces an integrative model of shadow work in the mobile shopping context, highlighting the importance of shadow work.

This paper shows the finite element simulation of a representative specimen from the firewall section in the AEROMARMI ESTELA M1 aircraft. This specimen is manufactured in glass and carbon / epoxy laminates. The specimen is subjected to a load which direction and magnitude are determined by a previous dynamic loads study [10], taking into account the maximum load factor allowed by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for utilitarian aircrafts [11]. A representative specimen is manufactured with the same features of the firewall. Meanwhile a fix is built in order to introduce the load directions on the representative specimen. The relationship between load and displacement is plotted for this representative specimen, whence the maximum displacement at the specific load is obtained, afterwards it is compared with the finite element model, which is modified in its laminate thicknesses in order to decrease the deviation error; subsequently this features could be applied to perform the whole firewall analysis in a future model [10].

As the thermal deformation significantly impacts the accuracy of precision positioning stage, it is necessary to realize the thermal error. The thermal deformation of the positioning stage is simulated by the finite element analysis. The relationship between the temperature variation and thermal error is fitted third-order polynomial function whose parameters are determined by genetic algorithm neural network (GANN). The operators of the GANN are optimized through a parametric study. The results show that the model can describe the relationship between the temperature and thermal deformation well.
