In this research, a novel design and operation of solar-based charging system for battery vehicle for a 50 km run is proposed. The proposal is aimed at replacing 110 existing diesel vehicles with 39 electric buses. Several operation scenarios for the charging stations are proposed and analyzed. Scenarios include two different battery charging methodologies and one hybrid option between electric buses and diesel vehicles. An energy model of the adapted electric buses is developed first. After that, load demand and needs including number of daily trips, number of passengers per hour, and hourly energy consumption are determined based on the developed model and gathered information. Results show that a 5.7 MWp photovoltaic system is required to power this transportation line with a loss of load probability of 5% and a trip cost per passenger of 2.05 USD. The simple payback period of the system is found to be 10 years, which is 40% of the system’s lifetime. The amount of CO2 mitigated by the proposed system is estimated as 1,629,387 (kg/year). The social impact of the proposed project is found acceptable; whereas, most of the current employees will keep their jobs with higher salaries by about 145% and less working hours by 50%. Moreover, it is expected that the proposed project will significantly increase the reliability, convenience, and sustainability of the transportation process.

Fuel-based transportation is one of the major contributors to poor air quality in the United States. Electric Vehicle (EV) is potentially the cleanest transportation technology to our environment. This research developed a spatial suitability model to identify optimal geographic locations for installing EV charging stations for travelling public. The model takes into account a variety of positive and negative factors to identify prime locations for installing EV charging stations in Wasatch Front, Utah, where automobile emission causes severe air pollution due to atmospheric inversion condition near the valley floor. A walkable factor grid was created to store index scores from input factor layers to determine prime locations. 27 input factors including land use, demographics, employment centers etc. were analyzed. Each factor layer was analyzed to produce a summary statistic table to determine the site suitability. Potential locations that exhibit high EV charging usage were identified and scored. A hot spot map was created to demonstrate high, moderate, and low suitability areas for installing EV charging stations. A spatially well distributed EV charging system was then developed, aiming to reduce “range anxiety” from traveling public. This spatial methodology addresses the complex problem of locating and establishing a robust EV charging station infrastructure for decision makers to build a clean transportation infrastructure, and eventually improve environment pollution.

This article deals with the major challenge of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in urban areas—installing as many fast charging stations as necessary and using them as efficiently as possible, while considering grid level power limitations. A smart fast charging station with four vehicle access points and an intelligent load management algorithm based on the combined charging system interface is presented. The shortcomings of present implementations of the combined charging system communication protocol are identified and discussed. Practical experiments and simulations of different charging scenarios validate the concept and show that the concept can increase the utilization time and the supplied energy by a factor of 2.4 compared to typical charging station installations.

An Electric Vehicle (EV) uses one or more traction motors or electric motors for propulsion. Nowadays the Electric Vehicle charging process is grim. An Electric Vehicle employs the concept of getting charged every time the vehicle is done travelling till a certain distance. The abate cost, alluring userfriendly method to maintain and its environment friendly nature makes the EV populous among many people. Yet, there pertains an issue to charge the vehicle as there are not many charging stations installed at every place. In this paper, we provide, block chain based vehicle charging system with reliable transaction. The vehicle has an inbuilt RFID tag, that is read by the RFID reader in the charging station. The RFID Number is transmitted to the server. The block chain technology is used in the server. If the vehicle goes missing the owner can report the theft to the server if the ID is matched the report is sent to the owner by Short Message Service(SMS) and the charging process will not be initiated. If the ID is not matched then the EV charging starts automatically.

Social Impact : The social structure in India, under the onslaught of the globalization is crumbling yielding place to individualism, materialism and consumerism. The joint family system is almost a thing of past, replaced by the nuclear family. Growing literacy of women, women entering into employment market for, career and to support the family in these days of higher cost of living has created the need for and existence of double income families. Increasing consumerism has changed the value systems and home/social environment where, 'I, 'me' and 'myself' is becoming a new personal agenda and slogan. No one have time for the other. Higher competition has brought in growing insecurity and fast paced life. Increased working hours and materialistic life style has spurred emotional disconnect, bringing to centre stage emotional trauma, despair and helplessness. Atrocities on women are increasing, women is being comodified, crime rate is growing and mental health of the society is under severe threat. The divorce and suicide rates are growing and the society is becoming internally hollow in the midst of material surplus. India is going from one extreme of social security under socialistic philosophy to the other extreme social insecurity under the capitalism oriented globalized environment.

This article examines different forms of Ukrainian migrant women’s social remittances, articulating some results of two ethnographic studies: one focused on the migration of Ukrainian women to Italy, and the other on the social impact of emigration in Ukraine. First, the paper illustrates the patterns of monetary remittance management, which will be defined as a specific form of social remittance, since they are practices shaped by systems of norms challenged by migration. In the second part, the article moves on to discuss other types of social remittances transferred by migrant women to their families left behind: the right of self-care and self-realisation; the recognition of alternative and more women-friendly life-course patterns; consumption styles and ideas on economic education. Therefore, I will explore the contents of social remittances, but also the gender and intergenerational conflicts that characterise these flows of cultural resources.
