Over a billion people travel by air all over the world every year, and there are many in-flight retailing opportunities for the airline industry. This paper proposes a novel integration fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP), fuzzy additive ratio assessment (FARAS), and multisegment goal programming (MSGP) methods to select the best supplier for in-flight duty-free product in airline industry. The advantage of this proposed method is that it allows decision makers (DMs) to set multisegment aspiration vague levels considering both the qualitative and quantitative criteria for supplier selection simultaneously. To the best of our knowledge, a simultaneous consideration of qualitative and quantitative criteria for supplier selection of in-flight duty-free product has never been applied under the airline retail industry context. This research will fill into the gaps of supplier selection in in-fight duty-free product for airline industry. The integrated model is illustrated by an example in an airline company in Taiwan.

Supplier management is critical for supply chain management (SCM). The aim of supplier selection is to find an order of preference among potential suppliers. However, the ranking results for supplier selection may not be important, particularly when the performances are conflicting or have minor differences. Different criteria may have different impacts on the ranking results, and different decision makers may place different priorities on multiple criteria. Relatively worse suppliers may still have to be used for many practical reasons. One alternative is supplier development, but it has been focused on categorizing individual suppliers for possible action plans. A new framework is proposed in this research to address supplier selection and supplier development at the same time in the publishing and printing industries. First, the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (fuzzy AHP) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) are sequentially performed to rank and select the best supplier(s) of a publishing company. In addition to ranking suppliers, a managerial analysis is proposed to assess the impact of important criteria on supplier selection in more detail. Finally, the results of the DEA are provided for direct supplier development without supplier categorization. This research shows that the proposed framework effectively addresses supplier development as well as supplier selection in the publishing and printing industries.

Supplier selection is a multi-criteria decision making problem which includes evaluation factors. In order to select the best suppliers, it is crucial to considering the both qualitative and quantitative factors simultaneously. The analytic hierarchy Process is a kind of Decision-making method with the combination of quantity and quality. Combining with fuzzy algorithm, this paper established a supplier evaluating system based on ERP database, discussing many issues in the systematic design and developing the implement step. The system make the evaluation process transparent by using data mining and fuzzy-AHP algorithm, and avoid the disturbing from excessively subjective factors. Thus it can guarantee the fairness of the assessment. Finally, the example and conclusion are given.

Given these problems, the Company is required Eternal racket must evaluate suppliers and choose which supplier should be selected with a view limits the capacity and various characteristics of suppliers. For that decision-making in the selection of suppliers is very important. Based on this problem researchers try to provide alternative solutions to the problem of decision-making by integrating the F-AHP is the combination of AHP technique to approach the concept of fuzzy logic. Although AHP is used in dealing with qualitative and quantitative criteria in MCDM but fuzzy AHP is considered better in describing vague decision of the AHP. and the supplier is a supplier selected priority A (P_A) with highest weight is 0.389.

A buying decision process is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problems faced by everyone in daily life. One example is the selection of smartphones brand in the market. Thus, the study is conducted to evaluate the most effective criteria for buying smartphones and to rank the people's preferences on smartphone based on its brand. Six criteria (price, operating system, memory, display, camera and battery) and three alternatives which are the smartphone brands (Oppo, Samsung and Apple) were chosen in the study. Two main processes were involved, which are 1) evaluate the smartphone criteria using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and 2) ranking the brand using Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE). Surveys and questionnaires were conducted and evaluated by decision makers who are the smartphone's users. The result showed storage memory is considered as prominent criteria in choosing a smartphone meanwhile the consumers firstly prefer Oppo, secondly Apple and thirdly Samsung. Future work in this study may use other alternatives to be ranked by considering other top models as well. Although the demand for the lithium-ion battery for electronic consumers and electric vehicles in Indonesia is high, there is no supplier coming from the local manufacturer. The proper selection of suppliers is required by some lithium-ion battery manufacturers (cells, modules, and packs), and Research and Development (R&D) center of the lithium-ion battery with the consideration not only in benefits and cost but also in opportunities and risks. It is important that experts assist the manufacturers and R&D to procure the lithium-ion (materials and cells), through transparent methods that seek a quantitative model to select the right supplier. The main objective of this study is to propose an analytical approach to select suppliers which incorporate Benefits, Opportunities, Costs and Risks (BOCR) concept that comply with the characteristics of the lithium-ion battery industries. A fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) model is developed by accommodating the vagueness and inaccuracies of expert elections. The result of this research is development of the model obtained from 2 questionnaires given to the expert. Questionnaire 1 was made for the determination of criteria and sub-criteria, while Questionnaire 2 aims to perform pairwise comparisons of existing criteria and sub-criteria. In the selection of the lithium-ion battery suppliers, there are 11 criteria and 40 sub-criteria which are considered. Those criteria are divided into 4 merits and known for their respective global priorities.

The environmental pressure from various stakeholders, particularly in the selection of green suppliers in the industrial sector, is alarming. The companies are realizing the significance of incorporating green practices in their daily operations. This chapter proposes a framework on the criteria of GSCM practices using MCDM analysis to select green suppliers for an Indian electronics company. The authors have collected the data from a set of 10 available suppliers. The authors use fuzzy AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS approach to rank the suppliers based on the decision makers' preferences on the selection of green suppliers using GSCM practices. The three dominating criteria concluded by the results are the commitment of senior management towards GSCM; product design that incorporates three R's policy for component, materials, and energy; abidance with environmental laws and auditing programs. This chapter carries out a comparison between Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Fuzzy TOPSIS method to enhance the quality of decision making and validate the rankings.

In Turkey, since March 2020, the pandemic process caused changes in the bank selection of consumers as it affected all other activities. Prioritization of bank selection criteria is a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem with conflicting criteria. In this study, the Pythagorean fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (PFAHP) is used to prioritize the selection criteria, it is aimed to provide more freedom for decision-makers in expressing their opinions. Not only quantitative criteria such as interest rate, ATM, and number of branches, but also the environmental and social impacts of the pandemic, the nine main criteria have been determined. As a result of interviews with different sectors, it was found that the loan interest rate is the most important criterion. The results were compared with different classical and fuzzy AHP methods, and it was found that the PFAHP method produced reliable and informative results that better represented the uncertainty of the decision-making process.

In the past few decades, there has been lot of focus on the issue of sustainability. This has occurred due to the growing concerns related to climate change and the growing awareness about environmental concerns. Also, the competition at global level has led to the search for the most sustainable route in the industries. The current research work deals with the selection of green supplier in a Nickle coating industry based on certain weighted green attributes. For this purpose, a hybrid tool comprising of Fuzzy AHP (Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy) and VIKOR (VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje) is used. The Fuzzy AHP is used for assigning proper weights to the selected criteria for supplier evaluation, while VIKOR is used for final supplier selection based on the weighted criteria. The three criterions for green supplier selection are, Ecological packaging, Corporate socio-environmental responsibility and Staff Training. The outcome of the integrated model may serve as a steppingstone to other SMEs in different sectors for selecting the most suitable supplier for addressing the sustainability issue.

Decision problems are usually complex and involve evaluation of several conflicting criteria (parameters). Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is a promising field that considers the parallel influence of all criteria and aims at helping decision makers in expressing their preferences, over a set of predefined alternatives, on the basis of criteria (parameters) that are contradictory in nature. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a useful and widespread MCDM tool for solving such type of problems, as it allows the incorporation of conflicting objectives and decision makers preferences in the decision making. The AHP utilizes the concept of pair wise comparison to find the order of criteria (parameters) and alternatives. The comparison in a pairwise manner becomes quite tedious and complex for problems having eight alternatives or more, thereby, limiting the application of AHP. This paper presents a soft hierarchical process approach based on soft set decision making which eliminates the least promising candidate alternatives and selects the optimum(potential) ones that results in the significant reduction in the number of pairwise comparisons necessary for the selection of the best alternative using AHP, giving the approach a more realistic view. A supplier selection problem is used to illustrate the proposed approach.

The furniture industry is growing to a great extent in Bangladesh. Many market researchers believe that the industry has enormous potentiality. However, the expansion of this industry may face complexities within a few years. Due to the wrong selection of facilities, many organizations failed to earn profit as expected. It also needs a large investment. Selecting a suitable place for a new facility is going to be the biggest question of upcoming years. This study aimed to analyze Bangladesh’s furniture industry, address the facility location problem, and provide a constructive solution to the decision-makers. In this study, seven criteria were considered: availability of raw materials, transportations, skilled labor, proximity to customers, energy availability, economic zone facility, and environmental impact, and five ideal locations or alternatives: Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Gazipur, and Manikganj. Thirty-four experts took part in the survey to analyze the significant criteria for selecting a furniture industry’s facility location and alternatives or potential locations for the facility. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy AHP methods (FAHP), two MCDM techniques, were used to analyze the data set. A sensitivity analysis was done to determine the model’s robustness for any critical changes in the real world. The result showed that ‘energy availability is the most significant criterion to select a facility location for the furniture industry, where it got 35.1% criteria weight in AHP and 33.9% in FAHP. ‘Chattogram’ was selected as the most suitable place containing 33.74% normalized weight in AHP and 33.81% normalized weight in FAHP.
