In this paper, a high step-up DC-DC interleaved boost converter is proposed for renewable sources with low voltages such as photovoltaic module and fuel cell. The proposed converter uses interleaving method with an additional voltage doubler and tripler circuit. In the proposed converter, the inductor at all phases is operated to gain high voltage through voltage doubler and tripler circuit capacitors with suitable duty cycle. The proposed topology operates in six switching states in one period. The steady-state analysis and operating principle are examined comprehensively which shows numerous improvements over the traditional boost converter. These improvements are high-voltage gain and low-voltage stress across switches. The proposed DC-DC interleaved boost converter has a gain/conversion ratio four times that of the conventional interleaved boost converter and four times less-voltage stress across the main switches. Simulation has been done in Matlab Simulink on a 70% duty cycle, and results are compared with conventional interleaved boost converter. For an input voltage of 15 volts, the proposed converter is able to generate an output voltage of 200 volts at 70% duty cycle with a voltage stress of 50 volts across main switches, whereas traditional interleaved boost converter generates 200 volts from same input voltage at 92.5% duty cycle with voltage stress of 200 volts across switches. From simulation results, it is clear that the proposed converter has better performance as compared to conventional interleaved boost converter for same design parameters.

This study developed a novel, high-efficiency, high step-up DC–DC converter for photovoltaic (PV) systems. The converter can step-up the low output voltage of PV modules to the voltage level of the inverter and is used to feed into the grid. The converter can achieve a high step-up voltage through its architecture consisting of a three-winding coupled inductor common iron core on the low-voltage side and a half-wave voltage doubler circuit on the high-voltage side. The leakage inductance energy generated by the coupling inductor during the conversion process can be recovered by the capacitor on the low-voltage side to reduce the voltage surge on the power switch, which gives the power switch of the circuit a soft-switching effect. In addition, the half-wave voltage doubler circuit on the high-voltage side can recover the leakage inductance energy of the tertiary side and increase the output voltage. The advantages of the circuit are low loss, high efficiency, high conversion ratio, and low component voltage stress. Finally, a 500-W high step-up converter was experimentally tested to verify the feasibility and practicability of the proposed architecture. The results revealed that the highest efficiency of the circuit is 98%.

High step-up DC-DC converters are necessary in photovoltaic energy generation, due the low voltage of the panels source. This article propose the Doubler Output Coupled Inductor converter. This converter is based in boost converter and utilize switched capacitors and a coupled inductor to maximize the static voltage gain. The converter achieve a high voltage gain with low turns ratio in the coupled inductor and an acceptable duty cycle. Can highlight the converter utilize low number of components and have low voltage and current stresses in semiconductors. To validate and evaluate the operation of the converter a 200W prototype is simulated.

DC-DC converters are playing an important role in designing of Electric Vehicles, integration of solar cells and other DC applications. Contemporary high power applications use multilevel converters that have multi stage outputs for integrating low voltage sources. Conventional DC-DC converters use single source and have complex structure while using for Hybrid Energy Systems. This paper proposes a multi-input, multi-output DC-DC converter to produce constant output voltage at different input voltage conditions. This topology is best suitable for hybrid power systems where the output voltage is variable due to environmental conditions. It reduces the requirement of magnetic components in the circuit and also reduces the switching losses. The proposed topology has two parts namely multi-input boost converter and level-balancing circuit. Boost converter increases the input voltage and Level Balancing Circuit produce Multi output. Equal values of capacitors are used in Level Balancing Circuit to ensure the constant output voltage at all output stages. The operating modes of each part are given and the design parameters of each part are calculated. Performance of the proposed topology is verified using MATLAB/Simulink simulation which shows the correctness of the analytical approach. Hardware is also presented to evaluate the simulation results.

The paper presents a two-phase interleaved boost converter (IBC) providing higher step-up conversion ratio compared to the conventional IBC. The circuit consists of a crossly connected diode-capacitor cell which provides the extra boost up. The two identical capacitors of the cell are charged in parallel and discharged in series providing high voltage gain at considerably low duty ratio. Switching operations, ripple and average currents through inductors are analyzed in continuous conduction mode (CCM). Ripple in input current is also improved. The voltage stress across the semiconductor devices is less in the proposed converter. Also, boundary load condition is derived. Small-signal modeling is carried out and a control circuit is enabled in the voltage mode control framework. Power losses are analyzed and 96.53[Formula: see text] efficiency is achieved. Finally, the proposed converter is designed and implemented, and experimental results are provided.

In this article, design, analysis, and experimental testing of a dual interleaved boost converter with coupled inductor including demagnetizing winding are presented. Proposed topology uses the specific design of boost coils placed within the side parts of the EE core together with a demagnetizing coil located on the center part of the core. Paper describes principles of operational scenarios and characteristics. Through modification of turns ratio between boost coils and demagnetizing coil is possible to achieve high voltage gain. Consequently, the functional performance of this perspective topology is realized experimentally. For that purpose, the physical sample of converter is designed and tested in terms of efficiency considering the change of transferred power or the change of input voltage. Through modification of turns ratio between boost coils and demagnetizing coil is possible to achieve high voltage gain, therefore these dependencies are also evaluated considering also the change of the duty cycle. At the end of the paper basic operational properties are compared to standard boost topologies. It was discovered that even due to higher complexity of the proposed converter oppose to selected topologies, the operational performance is much better considering ripple of the electrical variables, efficiency, or the size of circuit components.

Abstract Interleaved boost converters (IBCs) are cascaded in parallel in most of the applications. This novel approach connects IBC in series cascade. The IBC has an optimal operating duty cycle of 0.5. Normally, photovoltaic source voltage is low because of space constraints. In order to boost the source voltage, a conventional boost converter is replaced with series-cascaded IBC in this paper. The single-stage IBC also boosts the voltage to twice the input voltage. In the proposed converter, output voltage is about four times the input voltage with the same 0.5 duty cycle. A mathematical model is developed and simulated for the proposed work in MATLAB/Simulink platform. The output of the proposed circuit is analysed through fast Fourier transform to know the harmonic content due to the switching. The system is tested for stability with signal-flow graph modelling. The proposed work is realised using hardware and tested to validate the model.

The step-up converters are widespread use in many applications, including powered vehicles, photovoltaic systems, continuous power supplies, and fuel cell systems. The reliability, quality, maintainability, and reduction in size are the important requirements in the energy conversion process. Interleaving method is one of advisable solution for heavy-performance applications, its harmonious in circuit design by paralleling two or more identical converters. This paper investigates the comparison performance of a two-phase interleaved boost converter with the traditional boost converter. The investigation of validation performance was introduced through steady-state analysis and operation. The operation modes and mathematical analysis are presented. The interleaved boost converter improves low-voltage stress across the switches, low-input current ripple also improving the efficiency compared with a traditional boost converter. To validate the performance in terms of input and output ripple and values, the two converters were tested using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results supported the mathematical analysis. The cancelation of ripple in input and output voltage is significantly detected. The ripple amplitude is reducing in IBC comparing with a traditional boost converter, and the ripple frequency is doubled. This tends to reduce output filter losses, and size.
