With the gradual development of the superior performance of the ultrasonic water meter, the use of the water meter gradually occupies most of the market due to its unique advantages. Through the analysis of the influencing factors of the ultrasonic water meter, the Kalman filter is used to analyze the influencing factors, and the differences are obtained. In this paper, combined with the application scope of the Kalman filter, it is introduced. Combined with the method of data fusion, the influencing factors of the ultrasonic water meter are analyzed. They are the flow rate, temperature, speed of sound, time difference, etc. The appropriate sensor is selected through the sensor selection method, and the corresponding data is obtained by the method of the corresponding sensor. We combine the data fusion method and use Kalman’s method to filter the data. By comparing the data before and after the processing, it is found that the data before and after the filtering of different influencing factors are small. Among them, the flow speed factor has the greatest impact on the accuracy of the ultrasonic water meter; temperature and sound velocity have little effect on the performance of the ultrasonic water meter. When designing an ultrasonic water meter, it is mainly necessary to consider the impact of flow rate and time difference on the performance of the ultrasonic water meter.

Fast, reliable online estimation and model adaptation is the first step towards high-performance model-based nanopositioning control and monitoring systems. This paper considers the identification of parameters and the estimation of states of a nanopositioner with a variable payload based on the novel moving horizon optimized extended Kalman filter (MHEKF). The MHEKF is experimentally tested and verified with measured data from the capacitive displacement sensor. The payload, attached to the nanopositioner's sample platform, suddenly changes during the experiment triggering the transient motion of the vibration signal. The transient is observed through the load dependent parameters of a single-degree-of-freedom vibration model, such as spring, damping, and actuator gain constants. The platform, before and after the payload change, is driven by the excitation signal applied to the piezoelectric actuator. The information regarding displacement and velocity, together with the system parameters and a modeled force disturbance, is estimated through the algorithm involving the iterative sequential quadratic programming (SQP) optimization procedure defined on a moving horizon window. The MHEKF provided superior performance in comparison with the benchmark method, extended Kalman filter (EKF), in terms of faster convergence.

Flash floods are among the most common natural hazards in Egyptian and Arabian deserts. In this work, we utilized two Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellite images, before and after the flash flood, SRTM, and geolocated terrestrial photos captured by volunteers. This paper aims to three substantial objectives: (1) monitoring the flash flood impacts on Wadi El-Natrun region based on free satellite data and mapping the destroyed vegetation cover; (2) the integration of the free remote sensing data, geolocated terrestrial photos, and GIS techniques, along with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, to evaluate the impact of flash flood hazards on the study area; and (3) assistance of the decision-makers in planning the required protective works to avoid the probable flooding. Two scenarios have been applied to estimate the flash flood effect. The first scenario has relied on Sentinel-1/2 data fusion before and after the flash flood, while the second scenario has been implemented based on the integration of the Sentinel-2 images and hydrologic and hydraulic flood modeling with the help of ArcGIS software to simulate the flash flood route. The results demonstrated that although the first scenario is an efficient solution for continuous monitoring of the change in the water bodies, it is limited in the detection of the submerged vegetation area. On the other hand, the second scenario provided the flash flood route and hydrological parameters, which determine the hazard degree of the basins, thus helping the decision-maker to manage the flood risk. Moreover, the second scenario surpasses the first one by estimating the destroyed infrastructure. Consequently, the second scenario is appropriate to assess the flash flood impacts and mitigate its influence in the future.

Abstract Axial flow fans used in air-cooled condensers are typically analysed with smooth rounded hubs as they offer superior performance when compared to other hub configurations. However, such a hub configuration is impractical and may increase the manufacturing and installation costs of air-cooled condensers. As such, it is desirable to use a simpler, yet effective, hub configuration in order to reduce the installation cost. This paper assesses the impact that a simpler hub configuration may have on the performance of an axial flow fan. This is done through a comparison of three hub configurations: a cylindrical hub with a flat nose, a cylindrical hub with a hemispherical nose, and a disk hub, installed on the B2a-fan. Computational fluid dynamics modelling, utilising OpenFOAM, is used to simulate each hub configuration. It is found that the impact on performance due to hub configuration is dependent on the volumetric flow rate through the fan. A thin disk hub exhibits superior performance at low flow rates, resulting in a 8.4% improvement in total-to-static pressure rise and a 5.7% point improvement in total-to-static efficiency. As volumetric flow rate increases, the effectiveness of the disk hub configuration reduces while the hemispherical and flat nosed cylindrical hub configurations result in similar performance metrics at the design point flow rate. At above design point flow rate, the flat nosed cylindrical hub configuration shows an improvement in performance over the hemispherical nose cylindrical hub configuration, with a 9.5% increase in total-to-static pressure rise and a 5.1% point improvement in total-to-static efficiency.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam which has a function of faith, social and economic functions. Muslims who can pay zakat are required to give at least 2.5 per cent of their wealth. The problem of poverty prevalent in disadvantaged regions because of the difficulty of access to information and communication led to a gap that is so high in wealth and resources. The instrument of zakat provides a paradigm in the achievement of equitable wealth distribution and healthy circulation. Zakat potentially offers a better life and improves the quality of human being. There is a human quality improvement not only in economic terms but also in spiritual terms such as improving religiousity. This study aims to examine the role of zakat to alleviate humanitarian issues in disadvantaged regions such as Sijunjung, one of zakat beneficiaries and impoverished areas in Indonesia. The researcher attempted a Cibest method to capture the impact of zakat beneficiaries before and after becoming a member of Zakat Community Development (ZCD) Program in material and spiritual value. The overall analysis shows that zakat has a positive impact on disadvantaged regions development and enhance the quality of life of the community. There is an improvement in the average of mustahik household incomes after becoming a member of ZCD Program. Cibest model demonstrates that material, spiritual, and absolute poverty index decreased by 10, 5, and 6 per cent. Meanwhile, the welfare index is increased by 21 per cent. These findings have significant implications for developing the quality of life in disadvantaged regions in Sijunjung. Therefore, zakat is one of the instruments to change the status of disadvantaged areas to be equivalent to other areas.

Objectives: To evaluate urinary symptoms and quality of life in patient with BPH before and after TURP. To determine the impact of TURP on the urinary symptoms (IPSS) and peak urinary flow rate. Methods: This study is prospective study carried out between 2010 and 2011 in the department of Urology, National Institute of Kidney Diseases & Urology. Total 102 cases were selected purposively according to selection criteria. Each patient was observed and followed up at 8 weeks (1st visit), 16 weeks (2nd visit) 24 weeks (3rd visit) after transurethral resection of prostate (TURP). IPSS score, QOL score also recorded and uroflowmetry was done to see the peak urinary flow rate (Qmax) of urine and voiding time. USG was done to see post voidal residual urine volume and DRE also done in selected cases. Data was complied and statistical analysis were done using computer based software, Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), using paired ‘t’ test. A P value <0.05 was taken as significance. Results: Before TURP, IPSS range 17-25 and mean 21.61+2.43, after TURP, range 0-7 and mean 4.27+1.71). Hence a significant improvement of IPSS was found from 2 months to 6 months follow up after TURP. The change was tested using “paired student ‘t’ test”. Before TURP Qmax range 7-12.2 and mean was 9.96+1.69, which became range 18-25 and mean was 22.61+2.28 after TURP and therefore change of mean Qmax was 12.64+2.69. The change was tested using “paired student ‘t’ test”. The change was found significant (P<0.001). Abstract: This research aims to analyze the impact of Janti Flyover Construction toward the growth of layout at Janti Urban Area, including structured space, open space, and linkage. Method used for data collecting are observation, air photograph monitoring, and interview, whereas the analysis method is qualitative description, which is the superimposed method of two layers, that are the layout condition before and after flyover construction. The result shows that the impact of Janti Flyover construction can be seen on building mass (solid), the increasing number of open spaces, including the road network, parking place, and park, whereas the relation between spaces, visually and structurally, can be seen on the growth of buildings which have new shapes and styles, therefore the performance of the overall building does not have a proportional shape. Considering Janti Street at the collective relation, its role is getting stronger as the main frame road network.Keywords: Flyover construction, layout changing, Janti AreaAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pembangunan Jalan Layang Janti terhadap perkembangan tata ruang Kawasan Janti, meliputi ruang terbangun, ruang terbuka, serta hubungan antar ruang (“linkage”). Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, pengamatan foto udara, dan wawancara; sedangkan metode analisis melalui deskripsi secara kualitatif yang berupa “superimposed method” dari dua lapisan kondisi lahan, yakni kondisi tata ruang sebelum dan sesudah pembangunan jalan layang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh pembangunan Jalan Layang Janti terdapat pada massa bangunan (“solid”), pertambahan ruang terbuka yang berupa jaringan jalan, parkir, dan taman; sedangkan pada hubungan antar ruang ̶ secara visual dan struktural ̶ yakni tumbuhnya bangunan dengan bentuk dan gaya baru, sehingga bentuk tampilan bangunan secara keseluruhan tidak proporsional. The Financial Master Plan (2001- 2010) aims to enhance the capacity of banking industry so that higher effic iency and productivity can be reaped in the future. This study seeks to determine the impact of merger on the efficiency and productivity ofcommercial banks in Malaysia for the period 1995 until 2005. The study uses a non-parametric approach, nam ely DEA (data envelopment analysis?) to estimate the efficiency scores and to construct the Malmquist productivity index. To enable this estimation, three bank inputs and outputs are used. Amongst the findings are those banks exhibit higher efficiency score after the merger and thefo reign banks are more efficient than the local banks. Productivity of the banks is calculated in both periods, before and after the merger: The results show that, it is the local banks that have improved the most after the merger. The main source of productivity is technical change or innovation. The findings support the existing policy of having larger domestic banks in term of size.

This study reports a pre-experimental research on the impact of metacognitive instruction on EFL learners’ metacognitive awareness and their listening performance. To obtain the goal of the study, a group of 30 Iranian intermediate EFL learners, including 14 males and 16 females, were selected randomly. Their ages range from 20 to 24. The participants took part in 16 weeks’ intervention program based on metacognitive pedagogical sequence consisted of five stages. The metacognitive awareness listening questionnaire (MALQ), and a listening test were also used to find changes in metacognitive awareness and listening performance before and after the treatment. The results of comparing pre and posttests scores revealed that metacognitive instruction raised the learners’ metacognitive awareness and helped them improve their listening comprehension ability.

OBJECTIVEIn 2017, Michigan passed new legislation designed to reduce opioid abuse. This study evaluated the impact of these new restrictive laws on preoperative narcotic use, short-term outcomes, and readmission rates after spinal surgery.METHODSPatient data from 1 year before and 1 year after initiation of the new opioid laws (beginning July 1, 2018) were queried from the Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative database. Before and after implementation of the major elements of the new laws, 12,325 and 11,988 patients, respectively, were treated.RESULTSPatients before and after passage of the opioid laws had generally similar demographic and surgical characteristics. Notably, after passage of the opioid laws, the number of patients taking daily narcotics preoperatively decreased from 3783 (48.7%) to 2698 (39.7%; p < 0.0001). Three months postoperatively, there were no differences in minimum clinically important difference (56.0% vs 58.0%, p = 0.1068), numeric rating scale (NRS) score of back pain (3.5 vs 3.4, p = 0.1156), NRS score of leg pain (2.7 vs 2.7, p = 0.3595), satisfaction (84.4% vs 84.7%, p = 0.6852), or 90-day readmission rate (5.8% vs 6.2%, p = 0.3202) between groups. Although there was no difference in readmission rates, pain as a reason for readmission was marginally more common (0.86% vs 1.22%, p = 0.0323).CONCLUSIONSThere was a meaningful decrease in preoperative narcotic use, but notably there was no apparent negative impact on postoperative recovery, patient satisfaction, or short-term outcomes after spinal surgery despite more restrictive opioid prescribing. Although the readmission rate did not significantly increase, pain as a reason for readmission was marginally more frequently observed.
