The incorporation of information-processing technology into analytical systems in the form of standard computing software has recently been advanced by the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI), both as expert systems and as neural networks.This paper considers the role of software in system operation, control and automation, and attempts to define intelligence. AI is characterized by its ability to deal with incomplete and imprecise information and to accumulate knowledge. Expert systems, building on standard computing techniques, depend heavily on the domain experts and knowledge engineers that have programmed them to represent the real world. Neural networks are intended to emulate the pattern-recognition and parallel processing capabilities of the human brain and are taught rather than programmed. The future may lie in a combination of the recognition ability of the neural network and the rationalization capability of the expert system.In the second part of the paper, examples are given of applications of AI in stand-alone systems for knowledge engineering and medical diagnosis and in embedded systems for failure detection, image analysis, user interfacing, natural language processing, robotics and machine learning, as related to clinical laboratories.It is concluded that AI constitutes a collective form of intellectual propery, and that there is a need for better documentation, evaluation and regulation of the systems already being used in clinical laboratories.

The objective of this undertaking is to apply neural systems to phishing email recognition and assess the adequacy of this methodology. We structure the list of capabilities, process the phishing dataset, and execute the Neural Network frameworks. we analyze its exhibition against that of other real Artificial Intelligence Techniques – DT , K-nearest , NB and SVM machine.. The equivalent dataset and list of capabilities are utilized in the correlation. From the factual examination, we infer that Neural Networks with a proper number of concealed units can accomplish acceptable precision notwithstanding when the preparation models are rare. Additionally, our element determination is compelling in catching the qualities of phishing messages, as most AI calculations can yield sensible outcomes with it.

Different Artificial Intelligence programs have become capable of challenging humans by providing Expert Systems, Neural Networks, Robotics, Natural Language Processing, Face Recognition and Speech Recognition. Artificial Intelligence brings a bright future for different technical inventions in various fields. On the example of the online game Akinator, the basic principles on which programs of this type are built are considered. Effective technics have been proposed by which artificial intelligence systems can build logical inferences that allow to identify an unknown subject from its description (predicate). To confirm the considered hypotheses, the terminological analysis of definition of the program "Akinator" offered by the author is carried out. Starting from the assumptions given by the author's definition, the article complements their definitions presented by other researchers and analyzes their constituent theses. Finally, some proposals are made for the next steps in improving the program. The Akinator program, at one time, became one of the most famous online games using artificial intelligence. And although this was not directly stated, it was clear to the experts in the field of artificial intelligence that the program uses the techniques of expert systems and is built on inference rules. At the moment, expert systems have lost their positions in comparison with the direction of neural networks in the field of artificial intelligence, however, in the case considered in the article, we are talking about techniques using both directions – hybrid systems. Games for filling semantics interact with the user, expanding their semantic base (knowledge base) and use certain strategies to achieve the best result. The playful form of such semantics filling programs is beneficial for researchers by involving a large number of players. The article examines the techniques used by the Akinator program, and also suggests possible modifications to it in the future. This study, first of all, focuses on how the knowledge base of the Akinator program is built, it consists of incomplete sets, which can be filled and adjusted as a result of further iterations of the program launches. It is important to note our assumption that the order of questions used by the program during the game plays a key role, because it determines its strategy. It was identified that the program is guided by the principles of nonmonotonic logic – the assumptions constructed by the program are not final and can be rejected by it during the game. The three main approaches to acquisite semantics proposed by Jakub Šimko and Mária Bieliková are considered, namely, expert work, crowdsourcing and machine learning. Paying attention to machine learning, the Akinator program using machine learning to build an effective strategy in the game presents a class of hybrid systems that combine the principles of two main areas in artificial intelligence programs – expert systems and neural networks.

It is quite well-established in recent investigations on information systems that formal ontologies area crucial problem to deal with, and in fact, received a lot of attention in several different communities, such as knowledge management, knowledge engineering, natural language processing, intelligent information integration, and so on (Fensel, 2000).Ontologies have been developed in artificial intelligence to facilitate knowledge sharing and reuse. The viewpoint we adopt here is taken from the general considerations on the use of philosophical issues in artificial intelligence: “the systematic, formal, axiomatic development of the logic of all forms and modes of being” (Cocchiarella,1991). Another commonly accepted definition is that an ontology is an explicit specification of a shared conceptualization that holds in a particular context.

The challenge presented is an age when some decisions are made by humans, some are made by AI, and some are made by a combination of AI and humans. For the person refused housing, a phone service, or employment, the experience is the same, but the ability to understand what has happened and obtain a remedy may be very different if the discrimination is attributable to or contributed by an AI system. If we are to preserve the policy intentions of our discrimination, equal opportunity, and human rights laws, we need to understand how discrimination arises in AI systems; how design in AI systems can mitigate such discrimination; and whether our existing laws are adequate to address discrimination in AI. This chapter endeavours to provide this understanding. In doing so, it focuses on narrow but advanced forms of artificial intelligence, such as natural language processing, facial recognition, and cognitive neural networks.

Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) is widespread in many areas, including medicine. However, it is unclear what exactly AI encompasses. This paper aims to provide an improved understanding of medical AI and its constituent fields, and their interplay with knowledge representation (KR). Methods: We followed a Wittgensteinian approach (“meaning by usage”) applied to content metadata labels, using the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) thesaurus to classify the field. To understand and characterize medical AI and the role of KR, we analyzed: (1) the proportion of papers in MEDLINE related to KR and various AI fields; (2) the interplay among KR and AI fields and overlaps among the AI fields; (3) interconnectedness of fields; and (4) phrase frequency and collocation based on a corpus of abstracts. Results: Data from over eighty thousand papers showed a steep, six-fold surge in the last 30 years. This growth happened in an escalating and cascading way. A corpus of 246,308 total words containing 21,842 unique words showed several hundred occurrences of notions such as robotics, fuzzy logic, neural networks, machine learning and expert systems in the phrase frequency analysis. Collocation analysis shows that fuzzy logic seems to be the most often collocated notion. Neural networks and machine learning are also used in the conceptual neighborhood of KR. Robotics is more isolated. Conclusions: Authors note an escalation of published AI studies in medicine. Knowledge representation is one of the smaller areas, but also the most interconnected, and provides a common cognitive layer for other areas.

Articicial intelligence is a new science that deals with the representation, automatic acquisition, and use of knowledge. Artificial intelligence programs attempt to emulate human thought processes such as deduction, inference, language, and visual recognition. The goal of artificial intelligence is to make computers more useful for reasoning, planning, acting, and communicating with humans. Development of artificial intelligence applications involves the integration of advanced computer science, psychology, and sometimes robotics. Of the subfields that artificial intelligence can be broken into, the one of most immediate interest to forest management is expert systems. Expert systems involve encoding knowledge usually derived from an expert in a narrow subject area and using this knowledge to mimic his decision making. The knowledge is represented usually in the form of facts and rules, involving symbols such as English words. At the core of these systems is a mechanism that automatically searches for and pieces together the facts and rules necessary to solve a specific problem. Small expert systems can be developed on common microcomputers using existing low-cost commercial expert shells. Shells are general expert systems empty of knowledge. The user merely defines the solution structure and adds the desired knowledge. Larger systems usually require integration with existing forestry data bases and models. Their development requires either the relatively expensive expert system development tool kits or the use of one of the artificial intelligence development languages such as lisp or PROLOG. Large systems are expensive to develop, require a high degree of skill in knowledge engineering and computer science, and can require years of testing and modification before they become operational. Expert systems have a major role in all aspects of Canadian forestry. They can be used in conjunction with conventional process models to add currently lacking expert knowledge or as pure knowledge-based systems to solve problems never before tackled. They can preserve and accumulate forestry knowledge by encoding it. Expert systems allow us to package our forestry knowlege into a transportable and saleable product. They are a means to ensure consistent application of policies and operational procedures. There is a sense of urgency associated with the integration of artificial intelligence tools into Canadian forestry. Canada must awaken to the potential of this technology. Such systems are essential to improve industrial efficiency. A possible spin-off will be a resource knowledge business that can market our forestry knowledge worldwide. If we act decisively, we can easily compete with other countries such as Japan to fill this niche. A consortium of resource companies, provincial resource agencies, universities, and federal government laboratories is required to advance this goal.

Machine learning algorithms are used in language processing, automated driving, and for prediction. Though the theory of machine learning has existed since the 1950s, it was not until the advent of advanced computing that their potential has begun to be realized. Gifted education is a field where machine learning has yet to be utilized, even though one of the underlying problems of gifted education is classification, which is an area where learning algorithms have become exceptionally accurate. We provide a brief overview of machine learning with a focus on neural networks and supervised learning, followed by a demonstration using simulated data and neural networks for classification issues with a practical explanation of the mechanics of the neural network and associated R code. Implications for gifted education are then discussed. Finally, the limitations of supervised learning are discussed. Code used in this article can be found at https://osf.io/4pa3b/
