The dependability of power electronics systems, such as three-phase inverters, is critical in a variety of applications. Different types of failures that occur in an inverter circuit might affect system operation and raise the entire cost of the manufacturing process. As a result, detecting and identifying inverter problems for such devices is critical in industry. This study presents the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) for fault classification and identification in three-phase type, voltage source inverter (VSI) switches. TFR represents the signal analysis of STFT, which includes total harmonic distortion, instantaneous RMS current, RMS fundamental current, total non harmonic distortion, total waveform distortion and average current. The features of the faults are used with a rule-based classifier based on the signal parameters to categorise and detect the switch faults. The suggested method's performance is evaluated using 60 signals containing short and open circuit faults with varying characteristics for each switch in VSI. The classification results demonstrate the proposed technique is good to be implemented for VSI switches faults classification, with an accuracy classification rate of 98.3 percent.

Multiphase machines have gained attention in numerous fields of pplications such as Aircraft, ship propulsion, petrochemical and automobiles, where high reliability is required. The additional number of phases guarantees that the system continues to operate in faulty conditions compared to the traditional three-phase machine due to the high degree of freedom. Among faults able to affect multiphase system, break between a machine phase and the voltage source inverter (VSI) degrade the performance of the control. In this paper, a five-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is fed through a fault tolerant voltage source inverter with new structure to ensure drive continuity when open circuit occurs. The five phase PMSM is controlled with fuzzy logic regulator to minimize disturbance impact that can arise fault condition. Paper is accomplished with real time simulations using MATLAB-Simulink in order to validate the new topology and show the effectiveness of the proposed solution.

The model of a three-phase voltage source inverter is examined based on space vector theory. SVPWM offers an improved outcome with the inverter as compared to the conservative SPWM technique for the inverter. There is a 15.5% upsurge in the line voltage of the inverter. SVPWM better exploits the available DC-link power with the SVPWM inverter. It has been revealed that the SVPWM method utilizes DC bus voltage extra competently and produces a smaller amount of harmonic distortion and easier digital realization in a three-phase voltage-source inverter. For converter‘s gating signals generation, the space-vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) strategy lessens the switching losses by restricting the switching to two-thirds of the pulse duty cycle. A hypothetical study regarding the use of the SVPWM the three-level voltage inverter and simulation results are offered to prove the usefulness of the SVPWM in the involvement in the switching power losses lessening, output voltages with fewer harmonics. Nevertheless, despite all the above-cited benefits that SVPWM enjoys over SPWM, the SVPWM technique used in three-level inverters is more difficult on account of a large number of inverter switching states. The attained simulation outcomes were satisfactory. As prospects, future experimental works will authenticate the simulation results. A software simulation model is developed in Matlab/Simulink.

Paper deals with an implementation of three phase induction motor fed from PWM voltage source inverter with RLC filter connected at the output of inverter. The analysis has been carried for under modulation range. The effect of modified modulation index on the rotor current, stator current, developed electromagnetic torque, line voltage and rotor speed of three phase induction motor is studied with the help of MATLAB/SIMLINK. The impact of the proposed approach on the transient and steady state response of the motor is included in the paper work. Paper also compares the total harmonic distortion in various parameters of inverter for different modulation index. Simulation is done on a three phase induction motor fed by a PWM voltage source inverter with filter which is developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. There is appreciable improvement in THD of inverter line, phase voltage and current with increase in modulation index. The modified modulation method leads to the improvement in motor performance.

The focused signal obtained by the time-reversal or the cross-correlation techniques of ultrasonic guided waves in plates changes when the medium is subject to strain, which can be used to monitor the medium strain level. In this paper, the sensitivity to strain of cross-correlated signals is enhanced by a post-processing filtering procedure aiming to preserve only strain-sensitive spectrum components. Two different strategies were adopted, based on the phase of either the Fourier transform or the short-time Fourier transform. Both use prior knowledge of the system impulse response at some strain level. The technique was evaluated in an aluminum plate, effectively providing up to twice higher sensitivity to strain. The sensitivity increase depends on a phase threshold parameter used in the filtering process. Its performance was assessed based on the sensitivity gain, the loss of energy concentration capability, and the value of the foreknown strain. Signals synthesized with the time–frequency representation, through the short-time Fourier transform, provided a better tradeoff between sensitivity gain and loss of energy concentration.

In this paper, the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) concept is utilized in the controller of the grid-connected dual two-level voltage source inverter (DTL VSI). First, the topology of the VSG and the DTL VSI are presented. Then, the state-space equations of the DTL VSI and the grid-connected two-level voltage source inverter (TL VSI), regarding the presence of the phase-locked loop (PLL) and the VSG, are given. Next, the small-signal modeling of the DTL VSI and the TL VSI is realized. Eventually, the stability enhancement in the DTL VSI compared with the TL VSI is demonstrated. In the TL VSI, large values of virtual inertia could result in oscillations in the power system. However, the ability of the DTL VSI in damping oscillations is deduced. Furthermore, in the presence of nonlinear loads, the potentiality of the DTL VSI in reducing grid current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is evaluated. Finally, by using a proper reference current command signal, the abilities of the DTL VSI and the TL VSI in supplying nonlinear loads and providing virtual inertia are assessed simultaneously. The simulation results prove the advantages of the DTL VSI compared with the TL VSI in virtual inertia emulation and oscillation damping, which are realized by small-signal analysis.
