The use of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to support process development of advanced microelectronic devices is often challenged by a large amount of samples submitted from wafer fabrication areas and specific-spot analysis. Improving the TEM sample preparation techniques for a fast turnaround time is critical in order to provide a timely support for customers and improve the utilization of TEM. For the specific-area sample preparation, a technique which can be easily prepared with the least amount of effort is preferred. For these reasons, we have developed several techniques which have greatly facilitated the TEM sample preparation.For specific-area analysis, the use of a copper grid with a small hole is found to be very useful. With this small-hole grid technique, TEM sample preparation can be proceeded by well-established conventional methods. The sample is first polished to the area of interest, which is then carefully positioned inside the hole. This polished side is placed against the grid by epoxy Fig. 1 is an optical image of a TEM cross-section after dimpling to light transmission.

Abstract Over the last few decades, finite element analysis has become an integral part of the overall tire design process. Engineers need to perform a number of different simulations to evaluate new designs and study the effect of proposed design changes. However, tires pose formidable simulation challenges due to the presence of highly nonlinear rubber compounds, embedded reinforcements, complex tread geometries, rolling contact, and large deformations. Accurate simulation requires careful consideration of these factors, resulting in the extensive turnaround time, often times prolonging the design cycle. Therefore, it is extremely critical to explore means to reduce the turnaround time while producing reliable results. Compute clusters have recently become a cost effective means to perform high performance computing (HPC). Distributed memory parallel solvers designed to take advantage of compute clusters have become increasingly popular. In this paper, we examine the use of HPC for various tire simulations and demonstrate how it can significantly reduce simulation turnaround time. Abaqus/Standard is used for routine tire simulations like footprint and steady state rolling. Abaqus/Explicit is used for transient rolling and hydroplaning simulations. The run times and scaling data corresponding to models of various sizes and complexity are presented.

Abstract Laser Assisted Device Alteration (LADA) or Soft Defect Localization (SDL) is commonly used to root cause device marginality due to functional or structural failures. At a high level, LADA involves setting the device under test (DUT) at its marginal state and using focused near infra-red laser beams to perturb sensitive circuitry [1]. Scanning the focused laser beam over the die can be a long and time-consuming process. In this paper, two LADA cases are presented, which involve a parametric measurement failure while running a dynamic ATE test. Using LADA technique, these two cases were root caused. These two cases also explain how a parametric measurement-based LADA can be setup on ATE, as well as a synchronization method independent of vectors in a pattern. Synchronization was necessitated in the 2nd case due to the asymmetric test program loop, as well as the long test program cycle time. There are many factors which impact LADA turnaround time and it can take anywhere between few seconds to one day. The two major factors are the size of the Area of Interest (AOI) and test program cycle time. Test program cycle time influences the laser “dwell time” for LADA. Dwell time, in simple terms, is the total time the laser is parked at each pixel. The laser can also be synchronized with the test program cycle, keeping the two always in phase. This is explained in Case 2, where LADA synchronization was implemented, and the analysis was successfully completed in time, even though the test cycle time was very long.

Objective: The demand for Cellular based multimedia services is growing day by day, in order to fulfill such demand the present day cellular networks needs to be upgraded to support excessive capacity calls along with high data accessibility. Analysis of traffic and huge network size could become very challenging issue for the network operators for scheduling the available bandwidth between different users. In the proposed work a novel QoS Aware Multi Path scheduling algorithm for smooth CAC in wireless mobile networks. The performance of the proposed algorithm is assessed and compared with existing scheduling algorithms. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing CAC algorithms in terms of throughput and delay. The CAC algorithm with scheduling increases end-to-end throughput and decreases end-to-end delay. Methods: The key idea to implement the proposed research work is to adopt spatial reuse concept of wireless sensor networks to mobile cellular networks. Spatial reusability enhances channel reuse when the node pairs are far away and distant. When Src and node b are communicating with each other, the other nodes in the discovered path should be idle without utilizing the channel. Instead the other nodes are able to communicate parallelly the end-to-end throughput can be improved with acceptable delay. Incorporating link scheduling algorithms to this key concept further enhances the end-to-end throughput with in the turnaround time. So, in this research work we have applied spatial reuse concept along with link scheduling algorithm to enhance end-to-end throughput with in turnaround time. The proposed algorithm not only ensures that a connection gets the required bandwidth at each mobile node on its way by scheduling required slots to meet the QoS requirements. By considering the bandwidth requirement of the mobile connections, the CAC module at the BS not only considers the bandwidth requirement but also conforming the constrains of system dealy and jitter are met. Result: To verify the feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed work, with respect to scheduling the simulation results clearly shows the throughput improvement with Call Admission Control. The number of dropped calls is significantly less and successful calls are more with CAC. The percentage of dropped calls is reduced by 9 % and successful calls are improved by 91%. The simulation is also conducted on time constraint and ratio of dropped calls are shown. The total time taken to forward the packets and the ration of dropped calls is less when compared to non CAC. On a whole the CAC with scheduling algorithms out performs existing scheduling algorithms. Conclusion: In this research work we have proposed a novel QoS aware scheduling algorithm that provides QoS in Wireless Cellular Networks using Call Admission Control (CAC). The simulation results show that the end-to-end throughput has been increased by 91% when CAC is used. The proposed algorithm is also compared with existing link scheduling algorithms. The results reveal that CAC with scheduling algorithm can be used in Mobile Cellular Networks in order to reduce packet drop ratio. The algorithm is also used to send the packets within acceptable delay.

AbstractAlthough the most effective strategy for preventing or containing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreaks relies on early diagnosis, the paramount and unprecedented number of tests needed to fully achieve this target is overwhelming worldwide testing supply and capacity. Molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in nasopharyngeal swabs is still considered the reference diagnostic approach. Nonetheless, identification of SARS-CoV-2 proteins in upper respiratory tract specimens and/or saliva by means of rapid (antigen) immunoassays is emerging as a promising screening approach. These tests have some advantages compared to molecular analysis, such as point of care availability, no need of skilled personnel and dedicated instrumentation, lower costs and short turnaround time. However, these advantages are counterbalanced by lower diagnostic sensitivity compared to molecular testing, which would only enable to identifying patients with higher SARS-CoV-2 viral load. The evidence accumulated to-date has hence persuaded us to develop a tentative algorithm, which would magnify the potential benefits of rapid antigen testing in SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics.

Abstract Background The novel Coronavirus SARS CoV-2 (COVID-19) outbreak was complicated by the lack of diagnostic testing kits. In early March 2020, leadership at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak Michigan (Beaumont) identified the need to develop high capacity testing modalities with appropriate sensitivity and specificity and rapid turnaround time. We describe the molecular diagnostic testing experience since initial rollout on March 16, 2020 at Beaumont, and results of repeat testing during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in MI. Methods Beaumont is an 1100 bed hospital in Southeast MI. In March, testing was initially performed with the EUA Luminex NxTAG CoV Extended Panel until March 28, 2020 when testing was converted to the EUA Cepheid Xpert Xpress SARS-CoV-2 for quicker turnaround times. Each assay was validated with a combination of patient samples and contrived specimens. Results During the initial week of testing there was > 20 % specimen positivity. As the prevalence grew the positivity rate reached 68% by the end of March (Figure 1). Many state and hospital initiatives were implemented during the outbreak, including social distancing and screening of asymptomatic patients to increase case-finding and prevent transmission. We also adopted a process for clinical review of symptomatic patients who initially tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 by a group of infectious disease physicians (Figure 2). This process was expanded to include other trained clinicians who were redeployed from other departments in the hospital. Repeat testing was performed to allow consideration of discontinuation of isolation precautions. During the surge of community cases from March 16 to April 30, 2020, we identified patients with negative PCR tests who subsequently had repeat testing based on clinical evaluation, with 7.1% (39/551) returning positive for SARS- CoV2. Of the patients who expired due to COVID-19 during this period, 4.3% (9/206) initially tested negative before ultimately testing positive. Our hospital testing experience indicate that repeat testing may be warranted for those patients with clinical features suggestive of COVID-19.
