Epimedium muhuangense (Berberidaceae), a new species from Guizhou, China, is described and illustrated. This species is most closely similar to E. elachyphyllum in having simple leaves, petals shorter than inner sepals, flowers less than 10 mm in diameter and in having the same pollen morphology as well, but differs by having stout, short rhizomes, two opposite, glabrous leaves on flowering stems, and paniculate inflorescences. The chromosomes of E. muhuangense is counted as 2n = 12 and the karyotype is formulated as s 2n = 2x = 6m (2sat) + 6sm. Line illustrations, color photographs, and micrographs of chromosomes and of pollen grains of E. muhuangense are provided.

This study contributes to the morphological characterization of Ombrophytum villamariensis, a new species of Neotropical Balanophoraceae recently described for Colombia. The study revealed the presence of diagnostic characters in the pollen grain such as small size and a circular endoaperture. Unlike other species, only tricolporate pollen grains were observed.

Scrophularia dianatnejadii Ranjbar & Rahchamani, a new species from Tehran Province in northern Iran, is described and illustrated. It is closely related to S. amplexicaulis Benth. and shares with it some diagnostic morphological characters such as habit, plant indument, phyllotaxy, and corolla shape and color. Both species are placed in Scrophularia L. sect. Mimulopsis Boiss. Macro- and micromorphological characters of the two are examined and compared. Pollen morphology of these species is investigated using SEM. Detailed descriptions, illustrations, distribution maps, and conservation status of both species are provided.

Aspidistra revoluta (Asparagaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from limestone areas in southern Chongqing Municipality, China. The new species can be distinguished from the other Aspidistra species by its unique umbrella-like pistil with large revolute stigma lobes that bent downwards and touch the base of the perigone. A detailed morphological comparison among A. revoluta, A. nanchuanensis and A. carnosa is provided. The pollen grains of A. revoluta are subspherical and inaperturate, with verrucous exine. The chromosome number is 2n = 38, and the karyotype is formulated as 2n = 22m + 6sm + 10st. The average length of chromosome complement is 4.50 μm, and the karyotype asymmetry indexes A1 and A2 are respectively 0.37±0.03 and 0.49±0.01.

In May 2020, a new taxon of Euphorbia, Euphorbiaceae was collected from a dry hillside of Dongsheng District, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. The morphological characteristics of the specimens analyzed differ from those of the known Euphorbia species from this region; therefore, we suspected this may be a new species, and we set to analyze the ITS2 sequences of some Euphorbia species. The results show that the new taxon belongs to the sect. Esula of Euphorbia subg. Esula. It is similar to Euphorbia esula (description from Flora of China) but does not belong to the same species. Concomitantly, plant morphological data and pollen morphology results show significant differences between the new taxon, E. esula and E. caesia, a finding that supports the delimitation of this new taxon, which is named Euphorbia mongoliensis in accordance with its geographical distribution.

Impatiens megamalayana, a new species from Tamil Nadu, India is described and illustrated. This species is characterized by a ridged stem, ensiform and villous leaves, a wrinkled boat-shaped lower sepal with outwardly curved tip, ornamented seeds and strictly ovate pollen grains. This combination of characters makes determining the relationships of I. megamalayana difficult. The floral structure of I. megamalayana is closely allied to I. herbicola Hook.f. and I. inconspicua Benth. in Wall., the latter with three varieties, but it differs by several unique vegetative and floral features. Impatiens megamalayana is assessed as Critically Endangered in accordance with the IUCN guidelines. The habitat of the species is severely affected by landslides. As a result, effective strategies should be developed to protect I. megamalayana from exinction.

Ilex calcicola (Aquifoliaceae), a new species from western Guangxi, China, is described, illustrated, and compared to two morphologically similar species: I. mamillata and I. wuana. The scanning electron micrographs of pollen grains and stomata of this new species are also showed in the plate. I. calcicola is currently known only from the limestone hills in western Guangxi.

A new species of Asteraceae, Youngia jiulongshanensis, is described and illustrated from Mount Jiulong, south-western Zhejiang Province of East China. It most closely resembles Youngia heterophylla, but differs in having smaller oblong basal leaves (vs. basal leaves oblanceolate), lateral lobes of leaves 1–2 pairs (vs. 1‒8 pairs), 5‒7(8) florets in each capitula (vs. 11‒25 florets in each capitula), involucre 5‒6 mm long (vs. 6‒7.5 mm long), inner phyllaries 5 (vs. 8). Observations on pollen grains of Youngia jiulongshanensis and Y. heterophylla detect the pollen grains of the new species are significantly larger than those of Y. heterophylla. Sequences of ITS (Internal Transcribed Spacer) and cp DNA demonstrate Youngia heterophylla as the closest extant relative of the new species.

Four species of Borreria subsection Latifoliae (Rubiaceae) present intrafloral variations in the insertion/length of stamens in homostylous flowers. Borreria heteranthera is described and illustrated as new species from the state of Pará, Brazil. The emended descriptions of Borreria hispida, B. semiamplexicaule and B. xanthophylla, with details on stamens morphology and insertion, are provided. The inclusion of B. xanthophylla in the subsection Latifoliae is proposed. Staminal arrangement, pollen grains and seed morphology of the four species are compared. A comparative table with ecological, palynological, and morphological features of each species is provided. In addition, Borreria semiamplexicaule is mentioned as a new record for the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, and the lectotype of B. hispida is here designated.

Verbascum seydisehirense (Scrophulariaceae), endemic to the Konya region of Central Anatolia, is described as new species based on the plant’s morphological features. The new species is morphologically similar to Verbascum phrygium, but it differs from it for basal leaf shape, calyx size, corolla size, corolla indumentum and glands, and capsule shape and size. In this study, a detailed description, illustration, distribution map, conservation status and ecology of the new species are provided. Additionally, the study looks in detail at pollen grains and seed coat ornamentation of Verbascum seydisehirense and includes SEM micrographs.
